Well thats me lost 4 buy ins today brilliant. like tht break helped. im not under any illussions i didnt play well in this session, but constantly getting coolered doesnt help.
AK - Aggro post flop but it's pretty tough to hit that flop so you win a lot I'd imagine and get value from AQ/AJ that probz calls too.
J10o - I would open for 4x here as your hand isn't amazing and especially not great when you hit just top pair, flop bet fine, after being called I probably c/f to that strong pot bet as I don't see what he does it with that you beat.
77 - I fold to first raise as he only has 96p left with no guarentee £4 stack gets involved. After Fana 3bets then limp guy 4bets ! I'm snap foling as Fana could be shoving next.
AA - Fine.
AQ - Cooler ul.
34 - Snap fold preflop, as played I probz fold to overbet on river that looks like wanting paying.
AK - Sick, nout more you can do once the moneys in.
JJ - Tight but I fold preflop, after first all in guy who calls should have something pretty good or at least racing with you and coupled with what 1st all in has can't think you're a big fave, on a side note that ginags guy was having a fun time lol.
KQ - Raise UTG fine I personaly fold to 3bet, yes they can have anything as ginags shown but in general no one raises at this level so when they RE RAISE they ususally have something better than KQ. Flop you gotta call.
These are all my opinions though so maybe I'm too tight and I should be flatting 5x out OOP w/34
Last night i woke up randomly at 5am i decided that i wanted more sleep but to help tire me out id play an hours cash. I loaded the lobby and looked at the first 3 avalible tables. 2x NL4 and the other being NL10 none seemed like great value tbh, and i though ill see if theres one more NL10 that looks better. There was and i decided to watch for 5 mins knowing i was taking a pretty big risk. It looked like NL4 on a bad day so i sat down. Now for what its worth ive played alot of mtts and hu recently rather than cash my br started at £129.50 (give or take a few pennies). However ive been working on things off the table related to my tilt as well in private this time. Aswell as one key aspect of my game, hand reading and thought process with relation to that.
So ill post up some hands.
Hand 1. I just couldnt put this guy on a range that beat me unless he was going nuts with a flush. By way he'd played before i ruled that out. Therefore was able to make a good call.

Hand 2 - biggest pot i was involved in. I know my opponent to be extremely LAG in posision, however i didnt quite have the ammunition to fire a 4bet here thinking id only get called by better. This obviously gives me a problem post flop, OOP and not sure where i am. However once he checked back flop i decided i was ahead. Turn was a danger card but one i was comfortable with, and by the river i just couldnt see many 8's or 6's in his range so decided i was good, which i was. Although i know i cant raise or bet as i only get called by better, so i felt the c/c allowed me to a) see cards, but also get value from bluffs and a 9 or a 7 type hand.

Hand 3 - again this time i opted for the 3b however once my cbet as called i shut down. Really not happy with my check on the river but again was trying to allow my opponent to bluff as seen in hand 2.

hand 5 - my only losing hand. Now when it came down to this i was actually shutting down after my cbet i only really beat A8 in honesty. However once i seen the stack size i felt i couldnt fold for that into that pot. However flatting the turrn also felt pretty bad so i just got it in and made a note.

Feeling really good about playing atm although still not getting enough hours in. Something which i need to address. However as im learning more im defo enjoying poker more.
4. I personlly just fold to the donkbet, a player with that stacksize is never folding any pair, also you only minraise him so are essentially just folding out bluffs but also giving super duper odds if he has proper draw but on that board that's tough, I'd think the hand he has is the only only you get value from here. After minraise is called why are you betting turn, 8 is a blank and if he calls you're most likely dead also if you're gonna bet just stick him in. Oh and Sean has just checked, yet another reason minraise is risky as he could have any sort of pair too, it is 3-way.
5. I bet call turn, if he can just flat a raise pre w/AK with that stack he will do same with other small Ax's imo.
A little update. Im really finding it difficult to find motovation to play. Over the last while ive tried Mtts but the variance still i dislike. HU S&Gs but id play so many then get bored. and dyms aswell as a shot at NL10 cash. I just cant find the spirit to play.
So ive decided to play a mixture of things. Im hoping this will help. ATM im played 2x dyms (£5.50) and when i get bored of that ill switch to a couple of HU games or cash. Im im really struggling ill pick a tourny and have a crack.
At the moment my br stands at: £134.60 But ive registered for 2 dyms and thats what i have back so looking ok. ill keep updated with how im all going.
While typing this i was crippled in first dym, standardinho set over set.
Anyways ill update as i can again as tbh i feel ive neglected this thread a little and it really did help me play.

Grinding cash tables trying to beat nl4/8 over the last couple of months has had much the same effect on me. Not that I don't think I can do it, but the enjoyment just isn't there.
I've coped quite well with the 5 BI downswings at nl4, but at nl8 a 5 BI downswing has become 'real money' in my head and I'm struggling a bit with that, so I'm withdrawing £100 and dropping back down for a while at least. If I'm playing well enough I'll rebuild from there and maybe have another shot in the new year.
I'm playing for fun, not to try and make a steady income so at the moment I feel I'll probably continue playing some micro cash, but to the point of paying for my mtt entries on nights I don't have time for a mtt rather than trying to move up through the levels. I think there's prossibly more soft money to do this at nl4 than there is playing DYM's, and the option of sitting in or standing out at will suits my lifestyle better.
For now, as long as I win enough that my fun continues to be effectively free I think that will do for me.
You seem eager in cash to get stacks in because maybe your thinking all players stack light. If you have them noted as stack light then no problem.
In the JJ hand you 3 bet a min raise (3 bet bigger), which is fine but when they come back at you they always have it. Don’t know why your playing NL8, take the easy money at NL4, only 10-15 bi’s away from NL8 – what’s the hurry Don ?

3 betting there has to be with the intention of getting it in with their stack size. They will hve AK/AQ/KQ/TT/99 often enough.
Do we never 3 bet fold ) Even with JJ with oppo on 50 BB given action - I guess not - In game I probably do the same, but I have noticed at NL8/NL10, a min raise then a 4 bet shove = KK/AA a lot of the time. Posted by rancid

Hi Don,
Would a little Omaha not make a nice change for a while?
In Response to Re: taking on NL4 (and beyond) diary : Hi Don, Would a little Omaha not make a nice change for a while? Posted by ZedsDeadBa
yeah maybe if i was any good at it lol. Tbh im on the verge of just giving up poker. I cant motovate myself and wen ur consistantly losing its even harder.
Stop playing NL8, play NL4 Tighten up, don't play K10s, 109s with your roll at NL8. Maximum your return by maximising your percentages pre/post flop Ax suited, high end str draws etc... sets - big pairs Marginal hands are ok when you have the roll and losing a bi means nothing, playing NL8 with your roll like this is just suicide. Your skill is NOT /> than the VARIANCE that can kill your BR You can play perfect and still lose Load up 4-6 tables of NL4 and play tight- simples It may be boring, but come on Don - it's ez for you Posted by rancid
KTs on button for a min raise easy call. 9Ts v a big stack i have great implied odds expessially with my reads.
Anyways i no longer have will to play, and if i do ill defo not play cash. Sick of grinding for 2 hours fora profitable session to be 20p and others i just get outdrawn alot of the time. People wholl call off 100BB on a flush draw and get there and btw again based on reads, which where correct.
Im sorry if this sounds defeatest but i rekon those guys in area 51 have a point.

wasting ur breath m8, Don dont listen to good advice, or even bad advice for that matter........
Look through your HH and see what hands are losing you the most money.
Then stop playing them marginal’s unless you see flops cheaply and hit massive. If you don’t hit massive, then c/c – pot control until you do hit massive.
Playing these marginal spots aggressive is either going to be BR goes up quickly or down quickly.
910s - bad call pre and on flop obvz, you get super lucky on turn no skill there at all bet for value thank god but then why the hell do you fold on the river, the 2 is a brick right ?
KJo - you're 62% on flop so obvz canny win it every time, just run it more times.
On the suject of will to play I'll have to admit I've recently been aflicted with the same thing, it just got to a point where I was about to play a cash session and just couldn't be bothered you know the constant pressure of having to concentrate and stay on top game as big hands can happen at any stage.
Instead now I'm just sticking to the MTT's that I find a lot more enjoyable and also considerably more easy, but of course I remain strictly within BR and know that some stage I'll just get the itch again to play but for now it's kinda chill out time.
Good luck finding the buzz again mate but if you don't feel it don't play, it will return eventually
Im my search to find myself i decided i was going to be a little crazy. 50BB on NL30. Now before anyone has a go i done this as im trying to bring my stronger live mentality to my online game. I feel like a brain dead ape at Low stakes cash and tbh, i felt i needed, A) a challenge, and a little bit of thinking.
So off we went and it looks like i coped ok until i decided to make a huge bluff at the wrong time. Now ive been asked to put it in the clinic so i will.

One losing hand worth more than a fiver, and its a pretty spectacular one. HOW NOT TO SHOW YOU CAN BLUFF!!!!!!!
i left with £0 mate. I bluffed off £50 2 mins before i was due to finnsih. Although my mind is much stronger, and well i can now say, i bluffed off £50 that £2 i could have bought that bottle of milk with is useless lol.
Also the 9T hand from NL8 the 2 pairs the board, therefore meaning im beat by any 2, K, Flush or QJ, JJ QQ and AA again.
LOL oh yeah missed that, still fold pre prevents it all. Posted by Dudeskin8
haha yeap. making a move at wrong time = -EV
tbh i feel alot better for that session, as weird as it sounds since it was a losing session. but it allowed me to actually do what my mind was telling me to do without having to think, im gona get 5 callers here. Things like "what does he have?", "how do i get paid?" "what am i repping?" all came through my head. And tbh up until the last hand all of those where comming good. I just forgot about the little, Whats he flatting a 4bet with pre OOP with part. And went repping his hand. Without one killer mistake by forgetting that i probably dont do that badly. Problem is i forgot one question before i shoved and i paid the price.
But i think i know my mistakes i made and i will disect them later but other than that im happy with how the session went as a whole.
Played mastercash on NL10 last night. Tbh i was hoping to get some good comments from Redmond on my pplay unfortunetly i only got one hand on which was pretty standard. I finnished a tenner down overall from 2 tables but was happy with how i played. Im not going to post hands, ive picked out a few hands where i can pick up on my own mistakes.
However i will show one.

Anyways i decided today to give shorting NL30 a second go. Tbh i felt it brought some positives last time and it went well. A few basic errors but profit is profit.
A10 - pre fine, not sure about flop raise it's pretty small I'd make it bigger if you're doing it for value as you surely should be, rest fine.
76s - Flatting UTG raise in SB ain't good imo especially short stacking as surely you're looking to get big hands a play them strong not just hope to get lucky with SC's. As played I'd want to check raise that flop as it has to be the best you could've hoped for, c/cing down again seems very hope I get lucky and even when you hit on river you check giving him easy check behind when horror card hits that he'll never value bet TP with.
AK - good pre, I bet flop after 3betting pre about £7-8.
AJ - nh, good to see you found the bet button on river this time .

Well thats me lost 4 buy ins today brilliant. like tht break helped. im not under any illussions i didnt play well in this session, but constantly getting coolered doesnt help.
88 - Fine
A8s - Again look fine.
44 - Fine, love how you bet 23p on turn lol
Good luck.
Whats happened?
I miss it
EDIT _ just noticed a new Don on the NL4 - "The Don44"
Early Early doors
Closing Balance: £145.20
Feeling really good about playing atm although still not getting enough hours in. Something which i need to address. However as im learning more im defo enjoying poker more.
2. Again ok probz only 88 beats you.
3. Looks fine, defo bet river with 2nd nuts.
Closing Br: £129.29
Can’t see much wrong tbh
You seem eager in cash to get stacks in because maybe your thinking all players stack light. If you have them noted as stack light then no problem.
In the JJ hand you 3 bet a min raise (3 bet bigger), which is fine but when they come back at you they always have it. Don’t know why your playing NL8, take the easy money at NL4, only 10-15 bi’s away from NL8 – what’s the hurry Don ?
Pokers a never ending game @Carlotheoranageman
J9s I probz check turn hope for cheap river, not sure about b/c he surely has something there.
closing br: 117.91
Would a little Omaha not make a nice change for a while?
Anyways i no longer have will to play, and if i do ill defo not play cash. Sick of grinding for 2 hours fora profitable session to be 20p and others i just get outdrawn alot of the time. People wholl call off 100BB on a flush draw and get there and btw again based on reads, which where correct.
Im sorry if this sounds defeatest but i rekon those guys in area 51 have a point.
Don
Look through your HH and see what hands are losing you the most money.
Then stop playing them marginal’s unless you see flops cheaply and hit massive. If you don’t hit massive, then c/c – pot control until you do hit massive.
Playing these marginal spots aggressive is either going to be BR goes up quickly or down quickly.
So off we went and it looks like i coped ok until i decided to make a huge bluff at the wrong time. Now ive been asked to put it in the clinic so i will.
Also the 9T hand from NL8 the 2 pairs the board, therefore meaning im beat by any 2, K, Flush or QJ, JJ QQ and AA again.

Not a bad little session though, grats : )
