-you don't have to be a Virgin SPT'r to join -

If you are a fellow SPT Virgin like me or not than post in here.....no need to be lonely at an SPT. It can be quite daunting going to an SPT for the 1st time espcially if your going on your Jack Jones, so post in here if you want to be part of this SPT Nottingham group. I myself will be going down Friday early evening and meeting up with some Sky regs at DTD or possibly at a pub but in true Sky style - the more the merrier.

Come down join in, don't be shy and don't be a stranger.

NOBODY IS LEFT BEHIND AT AN SPT !

Not a bad place to stay, price is good - but no breakfast :(
Thinking about it - probs no point bringing laptop - going to be spending all weekend at DTD so....

Don't think I am that confident in booking 3 nights though, even 2 nights was being slightly optimistic)

    congrats   good luck

u be fine live poker is great    not all about winning its the banter at the tables and having a gd laugh aslong as u enjoy it thats the main thing
  • edited June 2013
Don't bother with the online stuff. Everyone at SPT's are so relaxed an SPT is like a pee up with old friends you haven't seen for ages. Plus DTD have side events going on all the time + they sometimes let us do SnG's, so just enjoy the live game and spend time with the regs, don't hide away playing online like you can every other day.

    Hi R

I'll be putting you in my fantasy league team, WITHOUT DOUBT!!!!

    Hi rancid

Good luck mate in Nottingham - I stayed in Birmingham - first time I stayed over for an spt and it was superb, if anything I drank far to much and it was like your first holiday away from the parents as a teenager.

The atmosphere and the the whole community are amazing and friendly and it makes it much more personal when you play the players online after as you can actually recognise them from having a drink with them on an spt - excellent people and meeting the sky presenters was an absolute pleasure - still trying to qualify for Notts, but will be going regardless and buy in direct if needed, alongside the side events makes it an amazing weekend.

Good luck mate - see you at the bar!!!!

Hi Rancid, congrats on your seat from a fellow SPT virgin...binked my seat the other week. Never been to DTD either. Does anyone know if there is anything on on the Friday night, haven't decided whether to come down on the Fri or the Sat yet?

What if one qualifies for both criteria? Do they get a special prize?

Yes I did it, my first SPT so please be gentle. Can’t wait to meet all you lovely people from the forum who I have had the pleasure to exchange pleasantries with over the last two years. Time to get out from behind the PC and play some live pokerz , slightly appre h ensive !   If you see my lonely figure walking through the casino , just say yo ! Looking forward to a good weekend   Marc --------

    Not intentional....<3

Also it's not designed to encourage women or men to meet strangers from the internet in bars for drinks !

NOBODY IS LEFT BEHIND AT AN SPT !

Just a question for the masses.
If your not part of one of the teams and it's your first SPT how are you welcomed into the mass community appeal that is Sky poker.
Is it like speed dating where everyone is walking around looking at name badges trying to identify who is who.

    Intrigued.....

In answer to your question, I and a few others know what you look like so I'd probably just come over and say hello, I'm X, this is Y and Z or w/e.

OR chances are you'll recognise someone yourself, like you'll know what Tommy looks like or w.e, then u can just say hello and job's a good 'un.
  • edited June 2013
    Yeahhhh.  SPT Virgin here.

As I am going by myself, it'd be nice to be included in any sort of drinking venture on the Friday/Saturday so I can meet people and make the most of my trek up north.

I haven't booked accomodation yet so i'll have to look into that.

And I also didnt know you had to be a member of DTD to play!  Will have to get on that too!

    Looking forward to it.

Not so much worried about myself, but justing putting arms out to people who maybe are coming on their own and don't know anyone and feel slightly apprehesive with meeting new people etc..

Then they can join this group of like minded souls and all meet up together if people so wish.
Rarther than just turning up and feeling like a melon on your own at the bar waiting for someone to come up to you and say hello or maybe they feel a bit awkward walking up to strangers in a bar.

I am sure everyone at the SPT will be very nice and welcoming but with so many people knowing each other already it may be case of newcomers feeling a bit isolated. - hence the group.

Plus I was planning on avoiding you to be honest Paul......but now you know what I look like I guess I got no chance :)

Anywayz a couple of pints with your name on at the bar when I see ya....

It's not big but it may get bigger......I'll pm group details of any planned meets for Friday at DTD or elsewhere
The idea being if your going Friday then we can meet up with some other Sky regs on the Friday evening
If your coming on the Saturday, then it will be around mid morning on the Saturday we can meet at DTD

Then we will meet everyone else and have a right old jolly up!

If anyone wants adding to the group then post here...and I'll add you....
