HI RICH

hi Rich--just thought I would mention that I told the technical team over ten days ago that the pages on the site were taking half a MB to load--It took the whole floppin site to crash before they took any notice--whats that all about?

update--the pages seem to be loading ok again now--don't know what was going on but the pages were taking over half a MB to download--weird!--seems better now---but the tables are still a pain in the flappery doo dahs!!---At least I might be able to do a blog now.

Each page was half a MB?!! That's a heck of a lot! The norm is about 10k

I nose m8---it has been taking close to half a MB to load a page for ten days now!--no-one floppin noticed--I thought it was something to do with the new stuff that's coming---I could'nt even do a blog because the pages kept saying that the server at sky poker is taking too long to respond---10 floppin days!----obviously, if it takes half a MB to load a page, something is drastically wrong--innit!!--surely someone should be monitoring the site, and making sure it runs smoothly.

       wodda floppin palava!

What are you using to measure the amount of data transferred?

  • edited December 2009
the counter on my dongle program--it monitors data transfer and adds it all up

Sounds odd, can't say I noticed the issue.
It wouldn't have anything to do with 'History' or 'Cache'. Clearing the cache would result in more data transfer initially, but even with all the static objects on a regular Sky page you'd get nowhere near half a MB - a few more K at most.
The only time I'd expect those levels of data transfer are when loading a table!

me too mate--the history and cache--I was joking--but it just started doing again--half a MB to load this page--very strange--as soon as a lot of people are logged in it all goes floppin mental!!

just tried it again--just over half a MB to load the fluppin page---stupid carry on---I bet ya all the tournament tables will be rubbish again tonight

happening again this morning--  sky rich -- tell the floppin technical team, its exactly this kind of issue that will eventually crash the site you know!

Does this manifest itself in slow loading webpages? I have to say I don't see any problems myself. Perhaps your PC is struggling with something in the page and retrying a lot (?)

Not sure what your level of experience is ... but ... what about doing a data capture with a traffic analysis tool such as Ethereal, so you can get an idea what the traffic is? If you then saved the capture you could forward to technical.

Unless there is indeed a general issue that they're already aware of I can't see them getting too far without something like that, as it's just too wierd!

dunno whats going on mate--sometimes its fine, sometimes takes ages, and sometimes says the server at sky poker is taking too long to respond--only started a few weeks ago, after an upgrade, I think it's something on the site coz i never have problems anywhere else, and also I've noticed that when its bad, then the tables are very slow too---it's at its worse just after the open starts, so it must be something to do with usage, surely?
