due to unacceptable behaviour..... did I hear this right oh dear, oh dear shame if they won't have us back next year due to this, as it was a great venue Posted by GELDY
thing is it seems to be happening alot at spts, what i see and heard was not good.they know who they are!bit of respect for the sky team wouldnt go a miss, they do their best to find these great venues and some individuals do that!
To be honest, I've been in casino's when Sky Poker has been there. It seems as if a lot of Skypoker players do not get out much and their social skills are very much lacking.
Its like when you go out at christmas and the people who only go out at christmas come out, get drunk and make complete morons of themselves because they think its what you do when you're out.
An average night in a casino is not a lot of people getting drunk and shouting or thinking they're "railing" all night. Its embarrasing to watch. But yeah my view is a few who go to SPT's have a real issue in how to behave in a public, social event. Get some social skills training,

I was there Saturday & Sunday and 99.99% of peoples behaviour was impeccable. Only saw one player where the demon drink had taken over and she was a nightmare
Can i say in pro of the venue, i was there late well after all/most sky players had gone on Sunday night. Every single member of staff and fellow players treated me extremely well.
I would certainly not hesitate to go back on any given weekend weather there was an SPT on or not. I would hope i would get a similar treatment
I know of the bans mentioned, i think in the cases drink was involved and i imagine they regret certain actions.

Around 95% of the times I have been to a casino or card room on a weekend night (Fri to Sunday) I have seen at least one person escorted to the door. SPTs represent less than 5% of my combined weekend live casino experiences and at SPTs I have also seen local non Sky players asked to retire earlier than they had planned.
People get drunk, drunk people can be a pain in the backside, establishments dislike very drunk people to remain on their premises. This is not new or news.
From my SPT visits 99.9% of people have been impeccably behaved and I find your post to be both misleading and unrepresentative of my and many others' SPT experiences.
The only way forward is to ban these people from future SPT events, seeing as we all represent Sky Poker on these weekends. The last thing you want is to have the event overshadowed by a couple of morons who cant control themselves. I think banning these people will send the correct message to the poker population.

Im hoping this is a joke. People drink too much and people make mistakes. To come with an over the top reaction like a perma ban makes no social or business sense at all. If need be have a yellow card red card system which is easy to implement.
I'd rather be around fun people having fun, even if the odd one crosses the line once in a while, than a room full of miserable people with headphones and Ipads who won't say 3 words all night.

This is where social awareness is meant to comes into play, hence my comment about the people who only come out at christmas going over the top and using the "I was only having fun" excuse.
It's always fun at poker event's be they sky events or others promoters. But being acting like a 10 year old down the play barn is not fun. I do genuinely think some SPT players only get out when going to a SPT. Have fun, enjoy yourself, but respect all others who have also come along for a good night.
Feeling like you've stumbled accross a council estate BBQ with people who cannot handle their drink IS NOT FUN! An if your idea of someone enjoying themselves is seeing them get blind drunk and make an idiot of themselves then you really need to change your friends and get out more.
I do agree though MOST Sky players have a fantastic fun time, have a great laugh, meet some new friends and DO NOT make idiots of themselves.
You can always go to a club after the tourament to let of steam, that's me and my mates do.

This 110%.
Those who received bans know who they are and didn't really need gossip on Sky's community pages, that is my opinion to the purpose of this thread and it wasn't a thread that needed posting.

Thats a bit stereotypical and assumptious isn,t it ?
I know off a lot of ppl who live or have grown up on council estates who would find that remark pretty offensive

with all due respect that was nothing to do with it
i've no interest in the gossip - hence i didn't name names or incidents. I was truly worried about the impact this might have on future SPT events.
I now know that my worries were very naive and I have nothing to worry about, for which i am very pleased.
i also find out that this type of incident seems to be very frequent in the UK, based on TommyD's post, and not at all exclusive to SkyPoker or binge drinking kids. This makes me very sad. And it is clear that others are also unhappy with this type of thing happening, which cheers me up a little.
So I have learnt a lot from this thread. There is plenty of gossip in the chat boxes on this, it's not as if I've exposed an ugly secret.

I've respected your play and forum posts for a long time.
I'm certain that most regulars, know there was no malice, just concern when you posted the thread!
Big congratulations on cashing at the SPT!
I hope next July I'll be congratulating you in cashing at the WSOP. Cos, if there is a Viva Las Vegas I'm sure you'll take it down!
Well my point made rather badly I will agree is...
There is a time and a place for everything. At a SPT it is possible to come away thousand and thousands of pounds better off than when you arrived. Just because someone doesn't get blind drunk and make plonker of themselves does not make them boring.
The guy sitting at the table with headphones on being quiet during a poker game may well be the loudest drunkest craziest guy you'll ever meet when he is in Ibiza with mates. A little courtesy and consideration for those around you and an understanding of the enviroment you're in is all that is needed.
Why should the main talking point of an SPT be someone getting banned?

It is not frequent, unless I just don't notice it....Bare in mind I'm in one or other of the various casinos around Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Walsall most weekends and some weekdays.
SPT's have an atmosphere unlike any other poker tournaments I have ever played. This is largely due to the community aspect of the site and friendships / rivalries that have been formed over a number of events and years. This is what makes the SPT's unique and why so many people come back time and time again. Yes it's unfortunate that a couple of people got over exuberant this time and took things too far and have been rightfully banned from the venue as I understand it. But let's not let one blip detract from what makes the SPT's such great fun events for the majority of us.
Yes OHIMGOOD, I agree that the guy with his headphones on has every right to sit quietly in his own little world, likewise you have the right to take the poker tournament seriously and remove yourself from any of the high spirits and I certainly wouldn't try to stop either of you doing your own thing. But please don't try to sanitise what for most of us are great fun events with a bunch of great people. There are loads of boring poker tournaments you can go and play every day of the week, I would certainly not like the SPT's to become another one of them.

For the avoidance of doubt, Sky Poker events & players generally remain very welcome at DTD, & we will be back there in October.
