Monthly medal on sunday morning and then an afternoon of football on the sofa!! Posted by maximus66
First time entry for the Edit: Oops meant Orfordable D/stack today Might be up for some PLO8 later Unfortunately much of the w/e will be spent on the motorway and in hospital visiting my wife Posted by Phantom66
Hope your wife is soon back at home. How far is the journey, where to & from?
Saw you on a few of my DYM Tables last night, you had a few shocking beats, but I think you did OK in the end. There are some breathtaking calls in those DYM's, but you just have to take the rough with the smooth, & we are never far ahead - or behind - in PLO8.
I ran terribly in my first 3 @ £5.50, lost all three, lol, but I just plugged away all evening & eventually my luck turned & I got nicely out of it. I play the £5.50's & the £11's, but the £11's don't run very often, think I only played 3 all night, but my run-good was in them, so that helped me make a profit on the day. Only about £20, but I got 4 hours relaxing fun for that, & racked up a few Reward Points.
We do over-complicate poker sometimes, but if I could just nick £20 or £30 a day, I'd be a very happy man, & that'd nearly pay for a Vegas trip next year. I want to do Vegas 2014 more than anything else in poker. We shall see.

Thanks Tikay - My wife is recovering well - long slow process but hoping very much to have her home this week. It will be 4 weeks this Tuesday since she went in. The journey is Preston - Leeds and back. Bad weather and rush hours can make that not so pleasant.
Only joined you on one PLO8 £5 DYM last night and yes it was a bit of a bad beat fest. Managed to pick some good shoving hands to rebuild stack though and held on though ftw - think you cashed too.
I was in a PLO MTT at the same time - which wasn't a good idea - reading texture of flops takes time and mixing the 2 formats caused a bit of brain ache but luckily no false moves.
£20 a day = Vegas is a nice way of looking at it GL
I'm just playing for relaxation atm, maybe set myself a challenge to treat my wife to a nice holiday when home life is more settled.
Still thinking about whether to play the lottery tonight
Really don't like the price hike and I just let my monthly direct debit finish
The problem is that same no's have been used since the 1st ever draw
Mathematically that shouldn't matter - but I picked the no's with with my wife and have meaning. If they come up we'd know! Psychologically we are heavily invested in continuing to play.
Anyone else having this dilemma today?
I am leaning towards just playing the Saturday draw so that overall it is not costing me any more to play

This is the problem with knowing your numbers! I play it frequently but only do lucky dips. It's a mind thing. If my numbers came up when I didn't enter........ at least with LDs I don't know the numbers (and the odds don't change!)
The only person I ever met who could be classed as famous was Ian Lavender (Private Pike from Dad's Army). Many years ago, when I was working in a bank, he came in to cash a cheque. True to Private Pike's form he put the wrong date on it. Thankfully, I managed to stop myself making the obvious "stupid boy" comment.
F1 travels to Korea of all placed this weekend, where Mr Vettel bids to seal his World Championship - I hope. I've had a weird bet in this, being..... Will there be a Safety Car - YES/NO I've gone for...... YES Posted by Tikay10
Interesting! There is a typhoon in the area which could hit the circuit. Forecast models currently suggest a 40% chance of precipitation and 55 mph winds which would almost certainly bring out the safety car, however that forecast is changing on an hour-by-hour basis.
I'd say that's a good bet though! Price?
Also, Vettel can't seal the title this weekend, regardless of what happens.
Before anyone asks, I'm not a weatherman, but I am one of the biggest F1 fans on the planet :-)

I just noticed the lottery post earlier. About 12 years ago my uncle split up with his wife after 30 odd years of marriage. The split came about after my ex aunt asked him if they could have a holiday abroad that year . He were a long distance lorry driver and used to do a regular run through Europe to Greece and back which took about 3 weeks to do. Having a typical east end of London mindset he ranted "what the ****** hell do I want to go abroad for I see enough of them while I am 3 weeks away from home" etc. She left him and after while met up with someone else. About 3 or 4 years after the split my ex aunt and her new partner hit eight and half million on a rollover !!!! My aunt gave my 2 cousins £1,000,000 each .The male cousin still went to work but after 3 weeks came home on a Friday and said to his wife "I have rapped the job in I can not stand the millionaire this and that I get at work". She said to him "well a million quid is not going to last forever is it " !!!!!!!!!!!!! My ex aunt then gave all the close family £30,000 each and I am sorry to say they do not speak anymore because they reckon £30,000 were not enough !!!! It just makes me wonder sometimes.
I was in the cinema a few years ago, sitting in my seat, waiting for the movie to start, when I saw someone I recognised coming towards me. It was Steve Davis and his manager. He was in Aberdeen for a tournament that week. I was a massive fan of his.
Of course, he made his way into my row, and I had to get up to let him past. But instead of doing so graciously I stuck out my hand to introduce myself, and said: "Hi Steve, how you doing?" like we were old mates. He shuffled his popcorn and drink around to accommodate my handshake, then went to sit down. I spent the duration of the movie shaking my head at how I was probably going to become one of those embarrassing fan stories he told to his friends over a beer.
After the movie I went to the toilet, and Steve was standing there at the urinal. Of course, I kept saying to myself: don't be an idiot; just leave him alone. But instead of quitting while there was a chance he wouldn't remember me, I stood behind him and said: "Good movie, wasn't it, Steve?" He smiled into the mirror the way you do when you want the moment to end as soon as possible, and it was then that I suddenly realised that this was the moment he told his friends about.
Suffice to say I found a cubicle and waited until he had gone.

I just saw this on another forum, which made me smile. How do you get rid of an unwanted Guest? Hero invited them to 1pm Lunch, & they are still there at 6.30pm. Some wag suggested "start talking about concrete & trains"...... What would YOU do? Posted by Tikay10
Not Orford by any chance? :P Yeah I think he'd leave if you started talking about trains!

He's not the world's worst poker player actully, Brian. A nit, of course, but that's fine by me.
I got to know him reasonably well, as I know the Hearn family through business & stuff. I've got a cracking Steve Davis / Barry Hearn story, but it'll need to wait a while before I can tell that one......

Morning all.

Cracking weekend that, enjoy.

I would still like the chance to find out whether I can manage to improve my life with several million in the bank.
The sort of winners that really wind me up are the "this wont change my life at all" please - why enter?
Entered the Sat draw (didn't win) and have ditched the Wed one.

I'ver had a mixed day with my punting, but I'm out of time, call time for the Show is 6pm, so I'll Update tomorrow.
Another fun weekend thread, thanks everyone, great stuff, cheers me up a treat to hear all these stories.
Will try & do this every week, if time permits, cheers the place up.
OK, I've gotta go to work now, the weekend just ended for me!
Have a great Sunday evening.
Oooh, BOOM!
Do wake up tikay.
