Quick fire q's you say?  Yes I say!

See, one of the greatest things about Sky Poker for me has always been it's sense of community and in a bid to keep that great community connected I thought it would be nice to do a 'Getting to know you' for the show...

Ten quick fire questions, cut and paste or answer as listed: newbies, regs, mods, let's all get to know each other that little bit better...

*Now this could be anything from mistaking 4's for A's to losing a prop bet at the Sky Poker Tour and having to wear a Mankini in the casino - anything goes!*

Show wise we've got live master cash action from 7 followed by the poker clinic at 8 where we'll be looking at requested hands from our main event, the 12K Sky Sports Bounty Hunter.  At 9 it's Top of the Pots before we return to Master Cash at 10 and the highlights of our main event from 11.

    6.  What has been your best result or finest moment? For me, my biggest result was probably winning a 6000 runner mtt. However my proudest moment would be a 128 runner, Winner takes all HU comp. Before playing every one said i had no chance. I showed them :)

    Can i also request this hand for the poker clinic please. 

    Its from the UKOPs bh on the 28th. £22 one. Think it started at 9pm if that helps. 

    Anyways basically I recently moved table and this is on the stone bubble, as standard i widened my opening range. Anyways i feel in hindsight if i call turn i have to call river. But i think its very close. Im not 100% sure on the best line here and would like some feedback.

    3. Occupation: Document Controller (not nearly as important as it sounds!)
    4. When did you start playing poker? In the nineties, when Late Night Poker was on Channel 4.
    5. Do you prefer tournaments or cash games? Tournaments
    6. What has been your best result or finest moment? Finest moment has been meeting a lot of the friendly faces at the two SPTs I have attended this year. Hopefully there will be many more.  
    7. What are your poker strengths? I can lay down big hands when I think I may be beaten.
    8. What are your poker weaknesses? Aggression in the wrong places, at the wrong time.
    9. What one thing will the community not know about you? I’m a short story writer, with many publications in print and online.
    10. And finally... Your embarrassing moment.... Telling a particularly attractive female dealer that she smelled good, which sounded like a compliment when I said it in my head, but was probably a little more sinister by the time it came out of my mouth!

    6.  What has been your best result or finest moment? I've won the Monday main and the Thursday Main.  I also cashed in my first live event at SPT Nottingham.  Also came 1st in the mini and 2nd in the main on the same night just missing out on the 10k jackpot.

    9.  What one thing will the community not know about you? My parents are best friends with James Cordens parents.
    10. And finally... Your embarrassing moment.... - Playing live at SPT Notts (side event) when blinds were 50/100 I put in a single 500 chip thinking it was a raise over a limper, not knowing that it meant a call.  When I got raised from the blinds to 600 I got really confused and thought it was 600 more so decided to shove with my pocket 10s with about 3500 behind.  Snapped by JJ and out of the tournament.  I couldnt get out of that table quick enough.  I looked like a right muppet!

    4  I started playing at college in about 1991
    5  Tournaments.  My cash ability is slightly worse then Teacakes limbo dancing ability
    6  Money wise it would be taking down the main event twice last year, however, the most satisfying was winning the Monday night DTD.  The best value at £5.50 for 3 tournies and, in my opinion, the best quality tournament on SKY.
    7  Aggression.  I try to play position and put players to the test if I can smell any weakness
    8  Aggression.  I can get slightly carried away sometimes and spew chips left, right and center
    9  I captained my college vollyball team to the national finals
    10  I once managed to lock myself out of a flat I was living in stark naked.  I was sober at the time too!

    9.  What one thing will the community not know about you? I'm a big Man City fan, and have travelled as far as San Francisco and Hong Kong to see them play
    10. And finally... Your embarrassing moment.... In life? Let's not go there. In poker? Not had many, but once in quite a big live tournament, I thought a guy who had just joined the table had taken up the immediate rebuy option. He hadn't, so he had half the stack I thought he had. So when I made a move against him with the mighty J9 of hearts and he went all in pre, it then dawned on me that I'd have to call given the odds and how much I'd put in etc. Somehow I got there, despite the flop being QQ4 and no hearts (running JJ), to bust his Kings. I don't think I played a hand for the next 10 orbits, his glare was putting me off!

    Actually scratch that most embarrassing moment I posted.

    In SPT Notts Main Event - Getting caught with a 10 high bluff for 1/3 of my chip stack to someones Ace high.  That was kinda embarrassing.

    Hand for the show :)

    Hand is from Mastercash 4.

    The plan was I'm happy to continue calling down on most turns and rivers as I think the action pre and on the flop is way more likely to be underpairs 22-88, than overpairs TT+... then I hit the dream card which I probably didn't need lol, so I'm now ahead of everything except quads

    Do we continue with our original plan and call turn, then raise the river (or bet if he checks)?

    OR

    Do we hope the Zeebo's theory holds true, and raise the turn as it's our only hope of getting stacks in?

    1.  Name: Paul Lambert
    2.  Location: Oxfordshire
    3.  Occupation: Poker Player (lol)
    4.  When did you start playing poker? Started playing poker with my mates when I was about 14 after seeing Late Night Poker on channel 4.
    5.  Do you prefer tournaments or cash games? For pure fun/excitement, definitely tournaments. For the moniez, cash.
    6.  What has been your best result or finest moment? Finest moment has to be getting picked by Tikay to be part of Team Sky Poker obv
    7.  What are your poker strengths? Discipline, good bankroll management, and like to think I'm pretty decent at hand reading/putting people on a range
    8.  What are your poker weaknesses? Tilt but I've worked to improve this lots, and levelling myself into making light call downs or shoving against people I know well when actually they just always have it
    9.  What one thing will the community not know about you?  I am a massive Arnold Schwarzenegger fan and have probably seen Commando 100+ times (sometimes 2-3 times in 1 day when I was a kid)
    10. And finally... Your embarrassing moment.... Some may know if they've been around long enough to remember the first time I told this story, but when I was about 16/17 I was on ITV's 'Teenagers From Hell' lol. A mate of mine was having a house party and ITV had given them a video camera to record it so they could discuss how teenagers interact socially etc. Our segment was definitely the tamest part of the show though.

    6.  What has been your best result or finest moment? erm not much to report there I'm afraid lol grinding my br from £2 to over £1k since the start of the year is it about it
    7.  What are your poker strengths? I'm just ok, do enjoy the odd 3 barrel bluff.
    8.  What are your poker weaknesses? Tilting off my stack to stations who have made awful calls but clearly hit every piece of the board
    9.  What one thing will the community not know about you? erm...I'm right handed but left footed lol or I have two kids

    Not sure if embarrassing is the right word but the potential was certainly there. Playing against the late snooker player Alex Higgins in a charity game in a local golf club I pulled him up several times on the rules of the game which he didn't appreciate coming from an 18/19 year old. It got a bit tense at times with him throwing a few verbals my way and not backing down from them even after the people running it agreed with me. Anyway few hands later when it was my turn to deal again the guy beside me gives me a nudge to get me to look down. Under my chair was the King of spades and it had definitely been missing for at least one complete orbit "Pick that up quickly and for gods sake don't let alex see" was what he whispered to me. Pretty sure there would have been a full scale meltdown if he'd known this had happened. For the record I hadn't been cheating or anything but he would have jumped on this as he was having a bad night on the tables as it was.

    6.  What has been your best result or finest moment?  GUKPT Goliath, Aug 2013.  Lost a monster pot aipf and was left with one BB and one ante.  5pm on Day 1.  Ground the living daylights out of that one blind and not only made day two, but cashed.  Don't mess with a Bromley, Poker Gods!

    7.  What are your poker strengths?  Heads-up play.

    8.  What are your poker weaknesses?  Never getting to said heads-up play, other than HU Sit-N-Go's!

    9.  What one thing will the community not know about you?  Given the way my life lives out on social media, I am not sure there is anything that the community doesn't know about me?!

    10. And finally... Your embarrassing moment....  SPT Nottingham, circa 2011. Three-way pot with 'A.N. Other' and Sky's very own 'Julian Thew'.  Flop a set in position. Bet all the streets before the river brings the flush I was worried about.  Face a huge bet on the river.  Make the hero call and turn the cards over, looking for who had got that very flush.  Hadn't realised the board had paired and I'd housed up.  Julian Thew laughs insanely and then TWEETS my embarrasing incident (tagging me in) to the whole poker world.  "Nicest Guy in Poker" ... pfft?!

    2.  Location: St Albans *more pubs per head than anywhere in Europe ;-)*

    3.  Occupation:  Radio DJ, Part time Poker Presenter, Unpaid dog walker

    4.  When did you start playing poker?  Around 7 years ago at the tail end of a New Years Eve party with friends, I'd grown up playing cards with my family, Pontoon, 3 card brag, that kind of thing.  Poker was new to me though some would argue I play like it still is...

    5.  Do you prefer tournaments or cash games?  I've been playing a lot of cash lately but do enjoy a good tournie

    6.  What has been your best result or finest moment?  *Spoiler alert* but bluffing Hartigan off a pot in the Presenters game, genuinely my finest moment pretty much ever...

    7.  What are your poker strengths?  I'd like to think I do the right thing in the right spots - most of the time!?

    8.  What are your poker weaknesses?  Lack of confidence

    9.  What one thing will the community not know about you? Errr.... My middle name is Jane!?  How about my mum's maiden name was Plato - like the Greek philosopher, except growing up on a council estate in Dagenham she just got called Potato. 

    10. And finally... Your embarrassing moment.... Oh so many!  The deepest shade of crimson probably came from mucking my BB in a live game when all I had to do was check, I was chatting nonsense and wasn't concentrating and tikay looked horrified.  I let him down.  I let us all down :-( xx
