Just been playing about with a calculator I've found, it's all new to me this and the numbers are way bigger than I'm used to dealing with. May need some help with this over the next couple of days.

LAY £429.84 at odds of 1.92 for a guaranteed profit of £36.84.

This is assuming you have already BACKED £393 at odds of 2.1.

Can it be that simple? :/

Would like to keep £100-150ish on the initial bet @ 11/10 if that's possible.

Should've done the initial bet with betfair rather than sky then I could see the green/red numbers changing in front of me.

I'm too drunk / incensed currently but I was gonna work it out for you tomorrow. I was quite interested in how bigger bets can almost buy leverage to trade.

Where profit is concerned remember the 5% deduction.
  • edited April 2014

I've sussed it now I think, managed to play about with 'play bets' to get £40 green on every player.

Just a question, does the green it show take into account betfairs fees/commission?*

Yeh cheers ff55hh, loads of time to sort it like. Appreciate your help with all this kinda stuff. Lets hope some more seeds fall these next couple of days!
  • edited April 2014
The profit shown is exclusive of commission.

If it shows a quid you get 95p.

If you regularly bet at high stakes the 5% rate will reduce.

    any thoughts?

Normally I'd be sure to have an opinion on this kind of thing.

Since signing up to Netflix a couple of months ago all the time the TV is on and sport isn't (like right now) has been spent binge watching breaking bad and Dexter.

Fallen well behind with all the soap stuff. Looks wide open, classic Enders!

    McManus 10-7 Higgins.

Just when I thought my life couldn't get any worse.....

God the standard this year has been awful.

Watching a frame here and the crowd are laughing at the players, that's how bad it is.

    How can Ronnie fail !!!!!!!

hmmmmmmm. Morning after the night before! I was on life tilt last night, my laptop refused to turn on, it was just dead. Only had it 5 months. So mentally I'd forked out £350-400 for a new one already. I wanted Ronnie to pay for it for me. Got someone to have a look at it today and apparently it's just a problem with the battery, power isn't going through it. So only going to cost £25 to fix. Stuck with £400 on Ronnie now lol. At least he doesn't play again for a few days, got some time to work out what to do. Still like the bet, and would be comfortable with around £100ish on. 400 is abit steep now that the tilt has disappeared though, any ideas? Joe Perry next up....Is it best of 25 next too? hmmm

Wish i had £400 on Ronnie.  Can't see anything other than an easy win.

    Loving this thread.

Gone with Robbie Williams + 5.5 handicap v Neil Robertson.     5/6

    I've broken Ronnie :(

Signed up to the betting emporium this morning.

    http://www.bettingemporium.com/

Fella suggests Mcmanus will beat Docherty. 8/11 too short for me to go big on again.....

Think a playoff chasing Brighton will P all over an all but relegated Yeovil at home tonight, so added that to make a 1.27/1 double.

    A certainty + a Certainty normally = a loss, but gamboooooooool anyway

Ronnie is going to win 8-0 this afternoon, and twitter says Super Kev could return for Dehli this morning too.

Today is going to be a good day !

    Ffs, haha :)

I think McManus is a fair price beat doherty, they were 10/11 each when they were initially priced up....wish I'd got on back then!

Finally Perry makes a couple of mistakes.

He's been flawless up to that stage.

    Put £200 on ronnie at 2/1 .

Rush of blood . Come on Ronnie
  • edited April 2014
Looking at my options here on the exchanges, seems I don't have many.

I'm heavily on the ale tonight, so the chances of me being awake @ 10 in the morning are slim to none.

Gonna cost me £200ish to get out now.

Is there any value in putting some money on Perry for the match as opposed to laying Ronnie for the tournament?

Then hope Ronnie sorts his head out, smashes Murphy/Fu early next round and take it back?

I aint taking a £200 loss so if there's no other options it's going to run.

Perry 5/4 to win the match fwiw.

This is a situation I've found mself in many a time, albeit with lower liabilities.

O'sullivan needs to win 6-3 or better tomorrow which is tough.

If he were to lose then his half of the draw would be blown wide open.

Likely benefactors are Fu(25/1) and Murphy (19/1)

History would suggest that Murphy is more consistent over long formats plus there is always greater liquidity at lower prices for obvious reasons.

If you layed O'sullivan for £60 @ 3.10 you would reduce your potential gain by £126.

£40 on Murphy would be -£40 Osullivan, +£760 murphy

    this should end up as:

    +£230 - O'sullivan
    +£420 - Murphy
    -£380 - field (£20 banked)

If O'sullivan wins his price will reset (more or less)
If he loses you have a strong trading position on Murphy to limit the damage

You could do the same on the bottom half of the draw instead but looking forward its a tough call on who out of Selby/Trump/Robertson.

Seems like forms gone out of the window here so it would be remiss of me to try and predict who will come through that bottom section.
Probably none of them if I got involved!!

This market may be  a crystal ball

    Re: betting emporium.

I got an e-mail about that around the same time that black belt closed.

I'm extremely sceptical about this kind of thing.

If I was raking it in from betting I'd just bet on stuff personally rather than charging other people to do it.

On 4th April they say, "Day two subscribers at Aintree were treated to a +141.75 pt winning day."

If you backed all winners that day at Aintree to level stakes its only 39.5pts profit.
If you backed every winner, in every race at all 3 meetings that day its 104.35pts profit
I literally can't imagine what they tipped????
    Tricast????
0.00033381pt super heinz (yes i worked it out)???????????????????????

Theres testimony on the website from people like Nick Wealthall who he obviously knows.

Just for disclosure I have absolutely no affiliation to Betting Emporium whatsoever. However it is run by Jow Beevers and Neil Channing (you may have heard of them, if not google them) They DO NOT charge for all of their service, in fact at the moment most of their content is free, all you have to do is sign up to access the free stuff, there is no charge for signing up. They give info on a wide range of events and if anything it could add a lot of valuable reasearch to you own thoughts even if you don't follow their advice. It is true that they have started to charge for some services like the Cheltenham Festival and Aintree however anyone that did sign up (I did) got amazing value for the content and were in profit at the end of it. You mention level stakes, I'm not sure why as there recommends are not to level stakes, Neil will recommend based on points eg 12 points each way. You as the customer decide what those points mean to you. For me it was £1 a point for others it could be £5 a point. That's why they achieved the results they did. Which by the way if you sign up you can read all of the write ups and recommends for all services even the paid ones. All of the bets were single each ways or wins. Just so happens amounts others Neil had the winner of both the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Grand National.

You may be aware that Neil also owned Black Belt Poker which is why you probably got the email. Anyway thought I would put a bit of clarity to your post as it seems you are a bit sceptical of the service they provide. Your choice but i certainly would recommend at least signing up to read all the reviews and content, you certainly are not forced to pay anything at all and lots of people probably don't agree with what they write, but many of us are a lot richer because of them.

Joe also started a thread on another forum. Both he and Neil (Badbeat is his forum name) will happily respond to any question you may want to fire at them.

I've provided the link but the mods may or may not take it down as it's for another forum.

I don't think you have a terrible situation with your bet. If it was me I would let it ride. Ronnie is without doubt the best player in the tournament and everyone is allowed an off session or two. If it goes pear shaped I'd just put it down as a learning experience, but I would take Ronnie against the field (and I have at 2.75). It would not surprise me to see him wim the next session hands down. Your money though dohhhhhhhh, but laying it back now for a loss is (for me) a negative ev move.

Oh ronnie, wtf were u doing with that red!? That could be the killer blow.

Nice post by omm above. Agree about betting emporium, only recently discovered it myself. They give some great tips, & detailed reasoning behind all the tips, & nearly all of it is free!

good luck to the people who got 2/1 for ronnie outright in running hes 4/6 now

Can I say that I have nothing against betting emporium in particular.

I think its impossible to back winners over time and when they post things saying they got 11 horses placed in 21 races at Aintree I genuinely do doubt that.

If you're that good you'd be retired within a week.

I'll take you up on 1 point though.

    "12pts each way"

My point stake is £4 and I would have to punt £96 to follow that particular tip you mention. This is extremely  risky and doesn't encourage responsible gambling. Granted its good if it comes in.

I will also apologise for ranting and being facetious and hopefully they bring you some more winners over the weekend.

edit*** i'll check out the link you posted now

That was a little bit awesome!

    Thanks for your advice fish/omm.

In the end, as I had no real idea what I was doing I just left it.

I wasn't even sure how to go about laying a bet, betfair shows the price, then a number underneath. The £ numbers were often way too small for what I'd need to bet (or lay).

I should just give up and stick to punting. Can't beat the 'all or nothing' scenario for entertainment, and that was pretty exciting for only round 2!

Very confident of making the final now, if he was going to lose before meeting Selby/Robertson it would've been today.

Worth waking up for even if the room was spinning throughout :)
