    Where is Punta Cana?

Dominican Replublic, far right on this image....(CLICK TO ENLARGE)

Note that there are numerous airports in the Dominician Republic, you must use "Punta Cana International Airport" if you want the Airport Transfers. This airport is within half an hour of the resort, the next nearest international airport is 4 hours away, & an airport transfer will NOT be available.

The IATA airport code is "PUJ".

     http://www.punta-cana-airport.com/

As far as I am aware, there are direct flights from Gatwick to Punta Cana on both BA & Thomson.

It is the responsibility of the PLAYER to book the flights.

What's the weather like there in November?

How many packages are GUARANTEED? Seven. (7)

    Each package is worth £3,500.

There will be ONE Grand Final for these 7 seats, on Sunday October 19th.

There MAY be more than 7 qualifiers, it depends on demand, obviously.

If there are seven qualifiers, the "balance" of prize money will go to 8th 9th & 10th as follows....

    8th = 50%

    9th - 30%

    10th - 20%

The same logic applies no matter how many packages are on offer in that Final. The "next three" will always share the balance 50% 30% 20%.

    First question...

It says they will credit your account with £800 for the flights. The package is for two though and from what I see the flights are in the region of £600 each.

What are the $1500 of hotel credits used for as it says meals/beverages are already included. Might be better to reduce the hotel credits so that the flights are covered and people don't have to pay an excess themselves.

    How to qualify?

    The Satellite Tree is HERE

    Qualifiers start from £1.80.

There is also a DAILY FREEROLL for those who have earned 20 Poker Points in the preceding 24 hours. This Freeroll has NINE guaranteed seats each day into the Daily Quarter Final, which has a £37 Entry Fee for those who buy-in.

    All satellites & feeders carry a guarantee, & are mostly 1 in 5, with a few @ 1 in 10.

There is a dedicated Tab in the Tourney Section, between "REGULAR" & "BOUNTY HUNTER" called, remarkably, "PUNTA CANA",& this contains all the array of Satellites.

    I have read that

"5,000 extra chips available for a $20 Deposit on Yapoker.com"

I have also heard that anything over $10k will be paid into an account on the "winning network" which you need an account for.

Has anyone from skypoker performed any due diligence on yapoker.com/the winning network or is this down to the players?

Lambert from what I can remember those $1500 hotel credits are used mainly for things such as spa. They have a huge spa facility where you can get massage etc.
  • edited September 2014

I've got to go & tend my allotment now, but I'll try & reply to all questions in the morning, or get someone from Head Office to do so.

I had a look on the official website for to the event http://www.puntacanapokerclassic.com/tournament/structurestates 4-Day Event
Players start with 15,000 in tournament chips. 5,000 extra chips available for a $20 Deposit on Yapoker.com

I have never heard of this poker site before and i would imagine its going to be impossible for anyone from the uk to deposit on there.  So does that mean that all sky players will be 5000 chips less off than the people who can deposit on that site?

Ah, so $1500 worth of happy endings. I see, I see.

Looks like a great promo, and a cracking trip for the lucky 7. Shame I can't participate but good luck to those that do.

Also would be concerned that any winnings over $10k would have to go on the winning network would like reassurance that money will be safe.  As the winning network is the 1 that allows united states players to play when us players are technically only allowed to play in new jersey and nevada under certain skins.  The winning network allows all us players to play and could be shut down by the us athorities at any time.

    • 7 nights in Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Punta Cana for 2 people (4-11th November)
    • All inclusive meals and beverage
    • £800 travel expenses including cost of flights (credited to your Sky Poker account)
    • 1,500 dollars worth of hotel resort credits
    • Players gift bag
    • Welcome party
    • Airport transfers (Exclusions apply. Please see FAQs)
    • Check in: Tuesday, November 4th
    • Check out: Tuesday, November 11th

That "Hotel Resort Credits" does need a bit of clarification, which I have now received.

Effectively, you win a package which includes the Hotel room, food & drink as part of the package.

The "Hotel Package" includes, within it, $1,500 of "Resort Credits", which are for various "Dominican Experience" trips & activities, such as day trips to adventure locations, golf, spa, massage, & the like.  These tot up to a maximum of $1,500. There is NO CREDIT OR CASH ALTERNATIVE available for these. You either use them, or not, it's up to you.

Think of it like a Room Mini-bar which is free to the room occupant - its up to him or her if they use that Minibar. Obv, you don't get that particular freebie, I'm just using an analogy.

Hope that makes it a little more clear.

Now the matter of the "add-on" via another poker site, & winnings above a certain threshold being paid via another poker site.

Personally, I've not had any more briefing than the Promo Page, so I've asked the Office to clarify that.

I'd be pretty sure that there will be a work-around for those 2 matters which is acceptable to Sky Poker & its Clients, but I need clarification & confirmation from the Office first, of course. For sure, I would be a little surprised if Sky Poker have agreed to that.

I'm quite sure there is a logical & sensible answer, I just don't have that detail to hand I'm afraid.

I would perfectly understand why it would cause clarification to be required though, I 100% agree with you on that.

I'd say that unless you are totally comfy with the facts as you interpret them, wait until the morning before deciding whether to qualify, or not, as the case may be.

I expect the Office will reply to me by tomorrow morning, & I'll post accordingly on this thread in the morning, or someone from the Office will.

    Have a good evening.

If you can't get a night off with some decent notice, good luck getting a week off with even less notice.

    Morning Gelders.

I'm not privy to their plans, but no, I think it very unlikely they will add an additional Final, all things considered.

    Hi Guys,

Some clarification of those questions you raised.

Just to be absolutely clear Sky Poker is offering the holiday package including buy-in but is not involved in running the tournament in any way. You’ll therefore need to separately enter into and comply with the event’s terms and policies when you enter. So, if you are not entirely happy with the tournament or package, please don’t try to qualify. We have asked about the issues you’ve raised though and can confirm that the $20 “Add-On” is automatically part of the package you win, it is already paid for, so no worries there.

As to any winnings in excess of $10,000, they’ve agreed that the venue will wire these to you direct. Up to $10,000 of course, will be paid in cash by the venue.

Hope that clarifies everything, but if you have any further questions, fire away.

Can we have some clarification on the flights, I'd assume Sky has looked into the prices themselves, but as the package is for two and prices seem to be in the region of £600 each... the £800 isn't going to cover it.

$1500 of hotel credits is great but must be tough going to spend that in a week, especially if you stay in the event for the majority of the trip. Some of it might be better used making sure the flight costs are covered.

I hear what you say Paul, but I don't imagine they will change those numbers, its just the way the thing is put together.

    hi paul,

i've done a trip or two like this over the years & from  my experience the make-up of the package won't be very flexible,

most would rather the $1500 in cash for sure but it tends to just be the resorts way of squeezing max ev from you.

Generally they bump up the prices off everything by 20%, and the $1500 will no doubt be quite easy to spend through.

Might be worth having both options for single room and double room available for players.  I had a look at the packages on there website http://www.puntacanapokerclassic.com/the-package/.  I would only require a single room and from them packages it works out over $500 cheaper doing it that way at only $3300.  So maybe there could be an option for that then the remaining $ could be added onto the travel expenses.  Also it shows on that site the double room package is only $3830 for 6 nights where as the package is supposed to be worth £3500 for 7 nights?
  • edited September 2014
£3500=$5668.49 - the $3830 which is advertised on the official site = $1838.49 cheaper buying the package directly on the site.  Only difference to the package on the official site is 1 more night added on sky.

The air fare allowance is not included if you purchase the package "direct".

Yes, it might have been a better option, but they won't be changing it now, for sure, or not that I would imagine. I don't foresee anyway that the constituents of the existing package offered by Sky Poker will change.

    Sorry!
