Huge show this Thursday night on Sky Poker TV.

Joining myself and Jen Mason will be...

    CHRIS MOORMAN

What's so special about Chris Moorman? Oh not a lot really, only that he's the most accomplished online poker player of all-time!

He's the first player to achieve the $10 million milestone in lifetime online tournament winnings.

And he's also a pretty nifty live player, having been listed in the Global Poker Index Top 10.

Just take a look at this...

    • #1 Online Player in the World

    • $11.6 Million Online

      Cashes

    • Record Setting 23 PocketFives

      Triple Crowns

    • $4 Million in Live

      Cashes

    • Ranked #1 Online

      Player Worldwide

      20 times

    • 2014 WPT LAPC Champion

    • 4 WSOP Final Tables

    • 21 WSOP Cashes

    • 1 EPT Final Table

    • Ranked in the Top 100 Live Players in the World on GPI

    • Winner of British Poker Awards “Best Online Player” – 2013, 2012, 2011, 2010

Apart from that though, he hasn't done much else in poker.

So the topic of discussion is very simple indeed. It's...

CHRIS MOORMAN IN THE HOT SEAT!

Send all your questions and comments to the show either on here, on Twitter #skypokertv, or via email skyopen@bskyb.com and I'll put them straight to the man himself.

Chris is here to plug his new poker book- Moorman's Book of Poker.

    And guess what? You can...

Win a signed copy of Chris' book!

Yes, we'll do a draw at the end of the night to pick out some winners from everyone who had a message read out on the show.

Poker-wise we'll be following the Sky Sports Bounty Hunter amongst other things, so make sure you get into that one.

Should be a great show! See you Thursday night at 7 on Channel 861 or streamed from this website and on the app!

What does Chris think about 3rd party software on poker sites?
Also "cartels" being set up by regs to control lobbies?

    More news on tomorrow's show...

We'll do a whole section during the show with a Q and A for Chris. So the more questions you send in the better.

We don't often have the world's number one online player on the show, so it would be criminal not to pick his brains!

Also- we're thinking of following one player in a tournament tomorrow night and having Chris give a masterclass giving his thoughts on that player's performance and giving them tips on how they can imporve.

If you'd like that player to be YOU then let us know on this thread.

Finally- we're going to go to the Clinic with Chris!!!

Go through your hand histories from the past 4 weeks for anything of note that happened on a TV icon table i.e. any 8pm main event, any 8.30pm mini event or any Mastercash table.

Send the hand number in, along with what tournament or cash table it took place on, and make sure you write something along with it asking Chris a question regarding the hand.

e.g. what do you think of my bet sizing here?

Is this the way you'd play this hand in this spot, on the bubble?

    etc etc.

We'll read it out and show the hand- you'll get the numero uno giving you free advice AND you'll go in the hat for a signed copy of his book.

If you're following someone in the Bounty Hunter, you're gonna have to explain to Mr Moorman beforehand that this tournament doesn't play out 'normally'!

Looks like it could be a cracking show.

    Evening all.

Question for Chris. Being an online pro and also playing a fair bit live, you must spend hours upon hours sat at the virtual and real poker felt. How much time do you set aside for your personal health like going to the gym for example. I often see pros neglecting their health for extra time on the grind and I can't see that being good for them long term, mentally or physically.

p.s I'd like to throw my name in the hat for being the 'followed' player in the main.

not a bad cv on moormans record but dont come close to  rich orford taking down the £2.20 deepstack :)
  • edited October 2014
I would like to ask Chris if he would consider investing some of his poker earnings in any of the following:

Monkey Poker the TV show (got to be better than Shark Cage which doesnt even have real sharks)
Monkey Poker the Movie (see the Sunday show thread for a synopsis)
also work in progress... Monkey Poker the Musical

I will offer an Executive Production credit and a % of royalties.

    Also,

What advice would he give a low stakes +ROI recreational player in terms of how best to increase profits, should they

Prioritise on volume, e.g. Multi-Tabling more, or trying to move up stake levels at the same volume they are comfortable with?

Also as I am a rare entrant in the ME this Thursday courtesy of my lucky dip crystal maze entry and one of said recreational +ROI players I would really appreciate some hand analysis.
re-edit seems I am in after all - looking forward to it!

Given that it is a B/H I would suggest following more than one player as having only one may be a short feature if their AA is snap called and busted by 95o.

Look forward to the show,Richard ,Jen and Chris.
    FAO Chris:
I won a signed copy of your book last week, look forward to the read!
Does it come with any guarantees, will I be a better player after reading your book?
Watch this space,I may even stretch my resources to enter tonights ME!

How long should I wait before opening up my range to isolate weaker players? Midstages only?

What adjustments should I make playing a turbo and/or rebuy tournament?

    Thanks
  • edited October 2014
    Very, very impressive CV!

Of all on the list, which are you most proud of and why?

For Jen and Chris, sorry Rich, how did you find it when you told your family/friends you were going pro, was it after you had won big?

How many hours on average do you both play a week/days off?

    Thanks, Derek.

    Hi all,

What are the main thought processes you go through involved in a hand, both live and online.

    Cheers

vvvwp Sky on bagging such a sick guest for 861, I'll deffo be tuning in this Thursday night for it.

I'm sure loads of people will want to, but I'll put my name into the hat too please for Chris to follow my play in the main event.

I'll post some questions for Chris and maybe a couple of hand IDs tomorrow.

Rare post by me.. Don't big up many players but Chris is my poker hero so I have to put my name in the hat for getting followed in Main.. Also have a great show Rich and Jen.. I have 2 questions not asked by anyone so far.. Q1- When u go all in you leave 1 chip which u get some stick for in chat when playing on Stars. Do you do this for any specific reason? (started doing it myself now for no apparent reason!) and Q2. How did it feel to win WPT in Los Angeles when some had doubted your live game compared to online prowess and how did you celebrate?. Cheers DD.

What a show this will be. Looking forward too it. So much so i will be depositing too play the main and mini which i normally wouldnt be able too.

    Question for chris.

Being a very low stakes player and love too play when i can on sky,  trting too learn as much as i can through the forum and the live show, mainly in mtt's i do ok but dont win too often, a few final tables never in a main tbough :( id like too know where im going wrong,

What hands should i be playing in the cut off and button on a 6max mtt facing raises from  out of position players,

And what hands should i be playing out of position against the button and cut off?

I feel i play some hands that im unsure of and should be putting in the bin pre and get in trouble sometimes when i hit these hands. Hands like small pocket pairs or KJs A10s etc.

As im playing the main tonight purely for the reason too have some of my hands analysed by youreslf hopefully starting stages anyway.. hopefully with your input a final table :) although id say the player above has a fantastic chance of that.

Mabye ill be the next chris m to go big in online poker :)

this would be awesome on so many levels. so much so that i will refrain from requesting it for myself.

I agree it would be awesome to watch divsdreams - although some shows are dedicated to the "winners journey" so you do get to see how the better players take them down.

I also think it would be great for someone like Lambert or one of the other regular helpful contributors to the forum get the reward too.

Finally the likes of the rec player like me could learn a lot too.

Seeing as the format of Chris's book is all about hand analysis the more on the show the better and given the vagaries of B/H's maybe having a field of players to watch is the way to go? Natural selection will dictate it is unlikely there will be too many left in the latter stages.

    Nice 1 Borin.

Now that wasn't intended as a rub-down on Lambert, the 2nd line was more to say he is deserving as a contributor to the forum not meant to imply he isn't good. I think he would accept his speciality is cash though.

and Slips main/mini leader board doesn't lie.

Going to miss this, as Thursday night is Pub Quiz Night.

So, my question for Chris is...

If he could pick three poker players to join him in his Ultimate Poker Playing Pub Quiz Team, who would he select, and what specialist knowledge would they bring to the team.

    Have a great show guys.

I don't think they'll be quite as mighty once they've finished playing Liverpool in the next round! ;-)

Some really good questions on here guys, thanks for that.

Let's have some more from anyone reading this. It's doesn't take a couple of minutes and you'll be in the hat at the end of the night for two winners out of say 40 people to win a signed book.

I like the odds for a freebie.

    Hi Chris
congratulations on reaching the pinnacle of your career.  sharing a studio with Rich Orford at skypoker!

seriously though i need some help with flush draws on the flop. sure if one has the nfd or a pair it's comparatively easy to gii.

But what if the hand is weaker. so maybe 98dd on a Ks4d2d flop. What are your key thoughts on playing this? How best to extract value without simply calling down and hoping to hit?

Some quick non poker (ish) questions for Chris.

    1) What football team do you support?

    2) Do you play the lottery?

    3) If you weren't a poker pro, what would you be?

    4) What is the longest break you have ever had and not played poker (on line or live), and what did you do instead?

    5) If poker was banned in the future, would you still try to play illegally?

I read that Chris learned alot from the Harrington books on tournament poker.

    I too found them invaluable.

As trends and thinking change over time, what would Chris say were the fundamentals that hold true from Harrington and what are the key new ideas that you have to adapt with to succeed now?

I've got a Sky Poker themed question for Chris.

Earlier this month you were eliminated from a High Roller event by Neil Strike, who plays on SkyPoker as Joesman1.

Do you recall if Neil was a worthy opponent or did he just get lucky?

    Hey Chris,
You're just a few months younger than me and my dream for a while was to become a pro before I hit 30! Looks like I'm not going to make it but you clearly did! Massive respect to you!
Now that you're number 1 do you ever consider retiring? I think I would!
    Good luck with the book!

    just a few q's

    what can I ask....

When did u start playing poker, how long after your first deposit did it take you too turn pro or where you financially sound before hand?

playing at the levels you do? how do u deal with lots of runbad or large bad beats? do u tilt? and how do u deal with this?

how may tables do u play at a time online and how do u focus on making the correct decisions the majority of the time? if you do play lots of tables do u take notes on most players u come across, I find im comfortable with 2 tables stretching too a 3rd on occasion but I struggle too keep up after this? but you see online grinders playing 15 too 25+ tables....how can u keep track of the players with all the other games happening.

hello to all hope the show goes well,

if you read my diary you'll know my MTTs are very poor, so i would like to register myself as a possible person to get followed in MTTs and see where my mistakes are happening.

    some questions for chris

    Q. which do you like better cash or tournament?

    Q. how long do you spend online each day and how much time is put aside for house work?

    Q. do you play anything else online ie chess?
  • edited October 2014

    Great guest

As I've played a great deal more online games than live, my questions for Chris are;-

"Would you change your bet sizing whether online or live?"

"Do you bluff less playing live?"

"What do you think are the biggest differences between online and live tournies?"

Also, can you put me in the frame for the player being followed through the tourney?

    Many thanks
    Graeme aka SuperSnedd
