But was other wise engaged.
Smart hurdler who made a winning start to his chasing career in 19f Chepstow maiden last month. Definitely more to come and looks the one to beat here.
Bumper winner. Promising 2nd of 16 in novice hurdle (4/9) when making hurdles bow at Roscommon (20f, good to soft) 68 days ago. Stable in good form. Has best chance on form.
Useful hurdler, impressive winner of valuable handicap at Leopardstown in January. 6 lengths 13th of 18 to Vautour in Supreme Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham last time. Exciting chasing prospect.
Bumper winner who was successful twice over timber. Showed plenty of improvement when making a winning chase debut at Catterick in December but not seen since.
Point winner who landed a bumper at Plumpton and successful on 2 of 4 starts over hurdles. Type to do better over fences.
Hasn't really progressed since being a fortunate winner at Fakenham a year ago, though has at least run some respectable races in defeat. Well backed but folded tamely at Aintree on return last month.
Caught the eye in all 3 qualifying runs in maiden company at up to 20f, and improved form without winning switched to handicapping. Runner-up at Worcester (20f) last month. Should be more to come.
Group 1 winner in France a year ago and carried top weight when runner-up in the Ladbroke at Ascot the following month. Not disgraced in Champion/Aintree Hurdle last 2 starts and looks a chasing type.
Promising start in the frame in a couple of bumpers (trained by Stuart Crawford on debut) and no surprise to see her figure on hurdles bow.
15¼ lengths 6th of 8 to God's Own in Ryanair Novices' Chase (5/4) at Punchestown (16f, good to soft), going off too hard. Off 6 months. Back up in trip. Yard in good form. Has good chance on form.
Tracked leaders, raced keenly, mistake 2nd, led narrowly 5th until headed briefly after next, going best with narrow advantage into straight, left clear from 2 out and in command, stayed on well, comfortably (op 4/5)
Mid-division, ridden after 4 out, weakened after next, pulled up before 2 out (op 7/1)
Winning pointer in Ireland and useful form over hurdles, winning 3 times before fourth of 18 in Albert Bartlett at the Festival. Promises to be at least as good over fences so needs considering.
Colour Squadron - (Cheltenham, 14:25) 2.55/1 (Betfair) 2nd
Solid efforts when twice placed all 3 outings in valuable handicaps at up to 21f at Cheltenham last season. Did too much too soon when second at Newton Abbot on return. Major player on these terms.
Point winner. Made a winning start in Huntingdon bumper and quickly developed into a very useful novice hurdler afterwards. Smart chasing prospect who was only just denied at Carlisle on return.
Unbeaten in bumpers and made successful transition to hurdles when scoring at Perth (2½m) on return. Much improved when following up in Grade 2 at Chepstow and sets a clear standard on that.
Raced just 4 times and overriding feeling is that we have nowhere near seen the best of him, flying too high in the Neptune at the Festival when last seen. Opening mark may underestimate him.
Landed 2 bumpers here last season and made successful start to hurdling career in Worcester novice last month. Definitely more to come.
Smart handicap hurdler at his peak (2012 Martin Pipe winner) who chased home Present View at this year's Festival. Shaped as if as good as ever when fifth at Market Rasen in September.
His form took off once switched to handicap chases last term, posting a smart effort (despite mistakes) here in April and should be spot on for this having scored over hurdles at Ludlow (2m) recently.
Half-sister to fairly useful hurdler up to 2½m Golden Gael. Won a maiden point on debut and landed 8-runner bumpers at Bangor/Huntingdon (listed event) at the turn of the year. Respected on return.
Smart bumper performer who should be very hard to beat on hurdling bow.
Latest win in hurdle at Fairyhouse in April. Smart winner at 24f over hurdles. 2nd of 7 in novice chase at Cork (20f, good to soft, 7/4) on debut over fences 28 days ago. Should progress.
Very hard to knock his strike rate, and better than ever under a fine ride in a first-time hood when landing the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham. Beat Hurricane Fly in Grade 1 here in May. One to beat.
Made all, not fluent 4th, 3 lengths clear when jumped slightly left 6th, jumped slightly left again 4 out, still travelling well from next and always in command, easily (op 1/6)
