and quickly nerves kicked in and panic set in and threw
the chance of going further by shoveing with 2nd pair ...sigh, soon as I done it I thought how silly was that.
is it a case of just more experince to stopping the silly mistakes when deep or is there any thing the players who regulary go deep did to 'learn' not to make them ? (books ,videos ect) or is it just back to experince...
but Im not going to lie I dont enter tornys above my bank roll but if I go deep nerves a definatly a proplem :-)
I should be on here bragging about coming 6th in a fairly major torny but feel i could have done better!(but I bet every one does)
small update..... plugging away kind of just enjoying learning still really , had a few cashes got into a habit of getting a little bank roll going and tilting it of pretty quick if I have a chance of a nice long session with no distractions and I go out early of a torny quickly Joined TPT I hope to gain out of that ! some how made the final table of the mini roller https://www.skypoker.com/secure/poker/sky_lobby?action=go_tnmt_lobby&game_id=10655603&guid=65511d5f-1236-4fc9-ad30-6fadaa906679 and quickly nerves kicked in and panic set in and threw the chance of going further by shoveing with 2nd pair ...sigh, soon as I done it I thought how silly was that. is it a case of just more experince to stopping the silly mistakes when deep or is there any thing the players who regulary go deep did to 'learn' not to make them ? Any FT is a good result. You must of played well to get there in the 1st place, so very well done. If that one hand was good, and he was on a draw that missed, who knows how far you could of gone. I know it kind of sucks to get that far without winning, but please focus on the positives. Forget that hand and just admire your new swelled Bank Roll today
As for advice....I am not sure. Each to there own but reading/watching videos might help or just watching a few final tables looking at some plays.
You could also post hands and ask for advice. I hardly ever go down this route TBH as reading hand histories make my eyes bleed. You always also get 'experts' telling you 6 different ways you should of played the hand/s. When you only get 10 seconds to make these decisions....sometimes you have to just go with 'your feeling'.
Best of luck anyway and I hope your success grows and grows.
Alan
PS. TPT are a good friendly team too. You will get better advice than mine of some of the players in that line up (apart from pokertrev who is useless)
Back to watching and reading as much as I can during the week incase I make it there again and not make the same 'mistake' perhaps I should concentrate more on the first hour of the show I have to admit i didnt normally
take as much notice as I should as I thought I wouldnt make that many F/T !
Thank you Tikay and mrs duck! Ive got 10 mins so had to post about my night....
It started in the 'up your game' freroll which i managed to cash £10 in ,so thought
right lets have another go at the mini (even though it is a little above my bank roll
management promises I made to myself :-) )
plodding away when I was dealt 99 ...
reraised all in ...
so thought call in a moment of madness... up against AA
9 fell on the river ...! felt bad really so said sorry then next hand the same feller shuved and I called again with a low pair against a10 a 10 fell and i typed NH but then i hit my set!and I think it came across wrong and
was called rude in the chat box ..I had no intention of being rude and was mortified and said so but I think the feller (posh92)had gone but It was a genuine mistake I hope he can read this and accept it was a mistake and my apology...
kept up my game really got my head down and concentrated..before i knew it I had a big stack
But I was determined not to let this one go
Then the next big stack joined my table....
before you know it his betting into me and it really was my night and flopped a full house against his high flush
boom all in shuv called and I had a big lead !
then nerves really kicked in and I tightend right up ,got some good wishes of Maxally and fellow TPT's which was really appreciated but kept up my game and found myself on the F/T again but far from a big stack about 5th
any way the cards fell good and Boom I took it down
This really means a lot to me as one it allows me to keep playing a game I really Enjoy and never thought I could take a big Torny down and I can genuinely treat myself to something!
Really nice to see this morning that you won the Mini last night.....I am generally pleased for you. This will give you loads of confidence going forward now. As you have said, treat yourself to something and carry on enjoying playing the game. One small piece of advice I need to give you though is stick to good BRM still. Build on your success slowly and watch out for miss variance and miss run bad.
You were very annoying Well played Posted by Jac35

Lets just say not every one thinks so (I don't claim to be , just a enthusiastic learner!). But thank you for your kind words !
Right , all this reading about Vegas has got me to take the plunge and arranged a trip out to play live.
I've posted this here so it gives a little bit of my background to any one who would like to give advice ! I saw the great reply's to fi33er s post in the poker clinic so I've got to ask for some too as I'm trying to take on the reply's to his post .
It's a 50£ freeze out 18000 chips (if I Reg early) 15000 if not 30 min blinds ,I know this is a bit big for my first live torny but it is a big deal for me to get out and I'm just hoping for a good night out and enjoyment but hopefully do well:-).
My worries are
1.its self deal (I've been practicing)
2.live poker etiquette (I've read and watched a lot)
3 I'm quite aggressive early on online but my plan is to sit back and get a feel for it first am I going to get behind quick with 30 min levels ?
4. counting stacks ,I know how important this is and for some reason I've got it in my head it will be difficult live?
5.I am still very much learning so know I make mistakes its easy behind the lap top but in front of folks arrrrg !
6 if I mention I'm new to live won't they target me even more so my plan is to stay quiet? Is that wrong ?
I know it sounds like I'm talking my self out of it but I'm determined to give it a go and enjoy it
any advice grateful the reply's to fi33er s post are Copyed in to my little notes !

Sorry I May have worded it wrong I'm going to a casino here to play for the first time !
Hi Andi. Congrats on some great results in the last year, especially that mini roller win in March!
It's likely that one of the regulars at that casino volunteer to deal throughout - so I wouldn't worry too much about having to pick up the deck yourself!
It's up to you if you tell people that it's the first time you've played live. I'd go with honesty, as the regulars may be able to tell anyway! There's also a bit of an advantage if everyone automatically doesn't give you the respect you've already earned on Sky!
Here's my top 3 tips for your first time playing live;
Get there early for the bonus chips (cut off is generally 10 mins before start, so aim for 20). Being there early will also give you chance to get a beer/cup of tea in, and get a feel for the atmosphere.
Say what you want to do, especially when calling, betting or raising. This prevents any mistakes on your part (string bets or wrong chips) and makes it a bit easier for the poor guy who's volunteered to deal.
Enjoy it! Just like online, there will be people who won't speak a word, and people there simply to enjoy it.

Just treat it as a night out!
Would also be really good to hear how it goes, and hear anything you think would be useful for people in a similar situation.
