No problem at all today, 4 tables and all fine. So why the complete lockout on Sunday. Posted by MrJoeBlogs
Yeh I just managed to play from 18:56 - 20:32, didn't get booted just had a lil lag, but I was playing 8 tables. So whatever there doing is working, just hope its like this not matter when we play.

Have you tried turning the table avatars off?
Someone else suggested it & it did seem to help with lag for me.

Didn't really seem to make a difference for me. Its been fine all week til now, just tried to open client and get to website, now I cant again. Also people having problems with Party and Will Hill. I have given there Critical Specialist Team nearly 2 weeks and they still not got this solved for everybody, patience is running super thin.

I reckon I must have missed easily like £3k+ worth of tournies on here since this started.
That's talking about enabling an outbound rule IF your local firewall is blocking that traffic - which is unlikely because you'd never be able to use the application if so (rather than just 'sometimes').
Port-forwarding is something different - configured on the front-line router to allow inbound traffic to a specific port to be redirected to a host within the network. Not something that's needed for any Sky Poker services, or at all in most domestic setups.

Just for clarity -
Is your problem that at times you cannot do either of these
1) Use the download client (it fails to connect to Sky Poker) 2) Use a web browser to access any Sky B&G sites (Poker, Bet, Vegas etc)
My girlfriend has already tried the port forwarding line fwiw with no success.
Nosey, the issue is at about 7:30pm each night Sky just stops allowing EE customers to login (or kicks you off if you're already logged in), you can't open the client at all or access any part of the website at all (Poker, Bet, Vegas, the forum, nothing), then at around 10pm it lets you have access to all the above as normal.
Same times every night.
The suspicion is that EE are blocking P2P style sites like utorrent (presumably because it's bandwidth intensive) and someone ran some sort of diagnostic (I'm not techy at all) and said that during peak times Sky seem to switch to a P2P protocol, which is probably why it's flagging up with EE and getting blocked.

They may well do that but I can't see it being related to this issue. I saw that P2P comment a while back. I don't think the download client ever uses any P2P protocol (why would it), and your browser certainly doesn't so you'd still be able to browse the SB&G sites.
But it does (on the face of it) look like EE are blocking the Sky IPs for 'some reason'.
Do the EE accounts have a management 'portal' where you can enable/disable parental guidance type stuff? Wondering if there's a rule that kicks in blocking 'gambling' sites at those times? Just throwing something out there - It's probably already been discussed and excluded if it was something so obvious!

I have no idea about the Sky using P2P protocol thing or why they'd do it tbh, I'm useless with this stuff, but there is a link in the OP of thread to the thread where this issue is being discussed on EE's forum and it was someone there that brought up the P2P idea.
I'm grinding MTTs these days so Sky is just one of many sites I play on, and I'm able to play on Stars, 888, Party Poker and iPoker all during the times Sky won't work, so it's definitely not a block across all gambling sites.

Its looking like this isn't just a Sky specific problem, that guy over at EE was saying he couldn't connect to Party when this s***t happens, so last night I thought I would try and I couldn't get on Party either. Then a guy over there couldn't get on Will Hill to cash in a bet, which ended up costing him £4k . Think this is some Evil master plan of Pokerstars to grab that last 3% of market share and get us all mass tabling Spin n Go's lol.

If its worth your while mate I would defo suggest getting a sim of these guys https://mobi-data.co.uk/uk/en/ if you have no other means of getting online, unfortunately I had to take out the 1GB 30 day rolling plan, because that 100MB was gone in no time and I only played like 4 tables of Sky for just over an hour.
In Response to Re: People having trouble connecting to Sky Poker/Sky Bet : Same for me, I only seem to have had this problem on Sunday so far. Posted by MrJoeBlogs
This week so far only day I had a problem was Weds and had to use my dongle.
Really thought we had seen an end to this, when I unbelievably managed to play yesterday, but couldn't get on today, just got on now. Posted by HaveaA1Day

After people saying it seemed to be fine this week I gave it a spin on Friday and played all night without any issues. I'd took the night off last night but came today thinking I'd be fine, could play Roller etc.... nope, back to how it used to be.
I sent them an email on Monday I think and got this:
Thank you for your email.
As per the records on the system it has been escalated to CFT referral team on 05/02/15,just been notified that they are still working on the fault and it might take another 5 days to get a response from the relevant team.
I haven't been on really this week, so dont know whether they have fixed it, all I have done is click on the client to see if it would open, and so far it as been doing so.
When you guys can't get onto any of the SB&G sites - is DNS name resolution working? I assume you're using EE name servers? Try using Google's instead (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 primary/secondary). In the properties of your network connection / TCPIP settings. Enter those manually in the DNS settings instead of just accepting the settings given to you via DHCP from your router. Command Prompt | ipconfig /all will show you what DNS server settings are currently in use.
Incase EE are blocking SB&G via DNS.
Probably not but worth a shot if you're still having problems. I prefer using Google's because ISPs can do some blocking via their own DNS.

Yeh already tried this in the beginning when this problem was just the annoying lag, but when we started getting the blackouts I stopped using it thinking that might make a difference it didn't so didn't see any point in trying it again.
I've had no issues last 2 nights (clearly kiss of death there), what about others? Posted by RossMc
Oh yeh they was right back again today.......wonder what day it is?! , got problems with my bank at moment, thats the only thing that stopped me from cancelling my contract, so gonna give them until Sunday and when they fail us once again, i'll be on the phone to them.

Ah, ok. Twas just a thought. Failed name resolution (what DNS does) wouldn't cause 'lag' - it would stop you accessing the site at all, like you get sometimes. Probably easier to just change ISP if no solution is found soon. Can you get out of EE easily?

Good luck!
I usually use (relatively) small ISPs. I was using 'BE' who were superb, but they were aquired by Sky last year. Must admit I was concerned my 100% reliable connection would become less reliable after a large ISP took over, but to be fair it's continued to be superb since Sky took over. Sky even implemented some of the 'BE' features such as allowing you to control your own line profile, which is handy (or was, it's N/A on fibre). I've just switched to Sky Fibre Unlimited - as it happens gone live today! - so hopefully things continue to be good.

Yeh I was with Sky before EE, and they was easily the best ISP I had ever used, and they virtually give BB away when you go thro a cashback site, got an amazing deal right now, but £100 of it is a M&S e-gift card, which isn't that great compared to my last deal I had with them that was nearly all cash. But should keep me in socks til the end of time .
Pretty p*ssed with EE, just got off phone they said there is nothing they can do about this problem, dont know what the hell they have supposedly been investigating then. So there gonna let me leave my contract early, but they are making me pay a £14 termination fee that they wouldn't budge on.

Brilliant.
Since 2009 I've never had a problem playing on Sky Poker (except when it's down for maint haha) via various ISPs including Nildram, BE and Sky. So GL getting sorted.
