The Sunday Night Live Show on Sky Poker TV with Rich and Ryan ***message thread***

edited March 2015 in Poker Chat
Three shows in one week! Hope you're not sick of the sight of me. Wait, don't answer that... Sky Poker TV LIVE Sunday 15th March 2015 7pm-midnight
Channel 861 or streamed from skypoker.com  With Richard Orford and Ryan Spittles- pictured here looking like they're on an awkward first date...

We'll be live at seven and we'll be all over the main event- The £20K Super Roller and the £10K Viva Las Vegas semi-final.
If you'd like anything read out on the show, stick it on here. And this time three people who write messages into the show will win Viva Las Vegas £3.2K Quarter Final seats, so make sure you're in with a shot of winning that.
Here's something I'd really be interested to hear about...

How much of your life is taken up by poker?

Tell us about a typical week and how much poker is involved. Do you spend two hours a day playing it, and squeeze in watching tons of YouTube poker videos in between? Do you go to bed reading books and forums? Or do you pick up poker once a week for a one-night stand only? Be honest, is poker and yourself a casual fling or a full-on obsessive relationship?

Looking forward to your answers and sharing them with the rest of the class on the show tomorrow from 7.

My now ex-girlfriend used to complain about how she felt that my online poker playing was leading to her feeling neglected, she re-iterated this in her leaving note when she left 2 weeks ago. She might have had a point as I only realised she was gone this morning!

Poker started out as casual fling, then it developed into a full on relationship, trying to find all about it, its intricacies and nuances. But as time went by, things settled into groove and I occasionly make the effort. mirrors my relationship with Wifey.

Poker and I have been steadily courting on and off for a round 2 years, built up with many one night stands,

After going out with friends and lets say in a little worse for ware state from one to many strongbows I would find myself suddenly sitting in my local Gentin at the cash tables playing £1 - £1 until silly o'clock in the morning!

Every morning whilst taking the long lonely cab ride home, honestly feeling like a dirty stop out out I would wonder how and I why I was so easily seduced into bed with poker. Strangely I would often come home in profit... (proper newb)

I was then treated to a trip to Sin City for my 30th Birthday, it was here I got a real taster of what poker looks like, regrettably I did not play much there as I was a little scared being so newbie!.

My return see no poker and basically it all went flat from there (that was 2 years ago), until I turn on the TV and see this Charming Fellow (tikay) and Orford... presenting on 681.

I quickly realised that this was far better than any other site I had played on previously and wanted to get involved.

Since then my BR is down lol, and my time is non stop taken up by watching the show, playing MTT's and cash, and non stop posting on the forum!

However  finally won my first ever MTT this week £3.30 buy in and £83 return :D

    Happy Mothers Day

    Nice replies so far.

We're live in 2 and a half hours' time. Remember, three people on here will be comped into Tuesday's Viva Las Vegas Quarter-Final- so well worth writing something in on the OP subject.

Great Show So Far Guys (the original)

    Poker is like an affair.

It started as a sneaky bit of fun on the side. Then is got a bit more serious and started making more demands on me so it went from a one night per week bit on the side to a couple of nights and the odd "dirty" weekend.

Eventually, it asked me to choose between it and life. Naturally, I want both but poker says I have to choose & as if to give me a nudge in the direction of poker has told me that if I don't choose poker then my dalliance with poker would be made public.

I feel dirty but have to choose. If I choose poker would it still be the same fun as when it was a bit naughty?

    Advice Please!

It is nine o'clock on a Saturday night and I should be at an old friend's party. There are likely to be nice people there, artistic, talented; and the hostess is a wizard cook. It was seven for seven thirty, dress smart but "not too smart"...

I am not at the party however. Nor is my dress remotely smart, consisting as it does of a fisherman's sweater, more holes than wool, and a pair of frayed tracksuit pants smelling faintly of urine. This is my usual garb – my uniform, if you will – when I play sky poker.

I used to spend 2 hours everyday analysing my play from the previous day so that I could be a better player. Eventually I recovered from this addiction, now I don't waste valuable poker playing time analysing

Hi guys, looking forward to the show, i used to play just a 1 or 2 hour session once every 3/4 weeks, mainly due to another hobby and not wanting to lose any money, but an injury to my arm meant i can no longer play the sport i was playing so since january ive but alot more time and effort into poker (my second hobby) and now i oplay most days for varied amounts of time sometimes just a hour sometimes 6/7 depends on my plans for the day and whats sports are on telly, but still just recreationally and mainly for fun. however with ever increasing profits i have to admit it is a nice little bit of money to have around if ever i needed it

    Hi Richard / Ryan,
After starting to play poker last October, I now play every day. Including a turbo sit n go every dinnertime whilst at work. It has taken me a while to get to grips with poker, but yesterday I managed to win my first satellite. I came first in a freeroll for a Vegas Qtr seat. Unfortunately, I squandered this opportunity whilst watching Ant and Dec. They really have a lot to answer for. My wife and daughter are still taking the mickey out of me for punching the air and shouting 'You're History', as a saw off another villain.

Now back to being a fish.

    Looking forward to the show!
My first introduction to poker was about one or two evenings a week at a local pub/club.(2009)
Then once I got a bit of experience,I started online poker with Sky(2010)
Having beginners luck,I won a main event Bounty Hunter(Monday).£1600.
    I was hooked.Then invested  im"Systems 1 and 2 by Doyle Brunson".
Played once or twice a week on sky as I was still playing in the pub/club league.
Now I play for about 4/6 hours every day.(It is like a full time job,but does not pay as well. Fortunately I am retired,so it is recreational.)

    evening all great show.

my life use to be revolving around real time strategy games on PC but now they've stopped being made and i decided to move onto poker, now my life is almost entirely based on poker or pokemon card collections, i am of course made to do college work but apart from that i'll be spending masses of hours playing poker and about 4 hours of deuces cracked videos
    great show craig.

The question of the relative being ill personaly I would stay and play on if they survive it then you will see them again any way if not I suppose you will see them at there funeral Im shure every1 will under stand if not take the main event down and buy a new family!
On a note on playing live what does Ryan believe on perception of people I have this thing stuck in my head about the older generation that they only play premium hands what do you think or am I just giving the oldies to much respect

Hello Rich and Ryan totalled up how many hours a week I play scary about 35 I have a very understanding wife, only low stakes cash and tournies unless I bink a sattelite. Have got enough on the site that I have spun up so that my hobby is free and I love it Cheers Chris aka Doylebrun.
PS it was a bit of a dilemma when my grandad died should I take the laptop or the Ipad I was respecful I didn't shout loud when I won. THAT WAS A JOKE BY THE WAY.

Good evening Mr Orford and Mr Spittles.
Moral dilema, i would say it pretty rude of them to be ill at 2.20 in the afternoon.
