may i add something? keep track of the pot. you must keep a running total of the pot size in your head. then you can calculate the bet sizing in relation to the pot. you need to know what others are doing. afterall, you do not have screen friendly info when playing live. as another tip, count the pot and calculate bet sizing even when you have mucked your cards. you can learn so so much on others' play but also it will guide you on your own bet sizing. Yes, of course, I'd encourage as many as possible to contribute to the tips.
It's VERY important that the more experienced poker players help the newbies in their early days, imo. They are the future of poker.
Be good to see some tips from the Serious Crew, too.Not that's Rob's not serious, obv.

Offer to buy the table a drink when you get your first.
Suitable table topics for opening conversations.
Fave sandwich, band, film, tv show, restauaurant, holiday, piece of fruit, takeaway, curlywurly vs snickers, why kickball is not a sport, cats vs dogs, hobbies, why planes are good and trains awful, what we did at christmas/new years, tyson the worlds largest turkey, comedians, favourite joke, interesting facts, breakfast.
#1 try to get some chatter going on your table - it'll make you feel more comfortable.
#2 when you're in a hand, do the opposite of #1. Don't talk to anyone. some players are expert at getting tells during hands, and since you're a new live player, you're likely to give off quite a bit of valuable information, meaning you should try to be quiet.

Hey Tikay, Just a quick one, in my tables it says the final is now the friday 26th? Jut wanted to double check im def in on the Sat 27th as have booked hotel lol. Thanks Claire Posted by claire008
Hi Claire,
I've no idea why it says that, but I would not worry about it - the T & C's are quite clear;
To have the chance of winning a Sky Poker UK Poker Championships Main Event seat you can qualify either via satellites or by direct buy-in at the event venue, Dusk Till Dawn. Successful players will be entered into Day 1C, which commences on Saturday 27th February 2015 at 12.00pm."
I also specifically agreed with Rob Yong @ DTD that the default day for Sky Poker qualifiers would be Saturday 27th February, as this saves them taking Friday off work.
Any Sky Poker qualifiers that would prefer to play the Thursday or Friday, that's fine, just let SPT Rich or myself know, & we'll sort it.
Thanks Tikay thats lovely, Just worried me with it stating the friday on "My Tables". Haha aw thanks guys! Appreciate the tips Posted by claire008
No worries.
The tip by Percival about talking during a hand is very important.
Experienced players will try to chat, or ask you questions, during a hand. "Will you show if I pass?" "two pair then?" or similar nonsense. They are just trying to pick up a clue from you.
DO NOT REPLY
DO NOT LOOK AT THERM OR GIVE THEM EYE CONTACT
Just stare at your cards, & sit quietly. It's not rude, it's perfectly acceptable.
As a general rule, when you complete a hand without going to showdown, DO NOT show it to the table. They can glean a lot about what & how you play by what hands you show. Let them try to guess.
3 of the gents who won satellites to Punta Cana were in last night's Final, with CxE1 & StayOrGo both winning their Nottingham seat, & radiofed28 narrowly missing out as Mr Bubble.
Another Punta Cana package winner, I8PALACE, is also qualified.
Lolufold led the field home last night, he's super hot right now, having scooped over £13,000 just 2 Sundays ago in the UKOPS main.
So close! Went from the £11 satellite, to the £25, to the £225, to being the bubble boy. Fun night, and I'm not giving up! Well done to everyone who won a seat last night.

Ha, I know, I was railing it.
Brutal game sometimes, but plenty of time to qualify yet, & I'm confident we will see you in Nottingham.
Please give my best regards to the Geography Teacher.
So, 10 went through last night, & the Lobby now shows these 23 all set to be at DTD in February, well done to them.

Technically, only 9 players went through last night as the above player already had his seat booked. Not a critism nowadays as I understand why players do this 'sats for cash' thing plus also understand players would like a second/third bullet for these events. Like you say, they are 10 more weekly finals to go, so hopefully some newbies will qualify as it is an event for all.

After a slightly disappointing 45 runners last week, 56 took their seats for last night's final, so it made 11 seats & £220 for 12th (the Guarantee was 10 seats).
The final result, taken from GaryQQQ's thread, was....

Some of those had a seat already, so not all 11 will be added to the Nottingham Lobby.
Ossieboy collected £220 for 12th, which softened the blow a little, whilst Dustolucko was out of lucko.
Was really pleased to see it eased comfortably over the Guarantee, despite the target event being nearly 3 months away.
The £1 million Guarantee on the target event is really ambitious, but it's been a reasonable start.
There were only 37 registered mid-morning yesterday, but it eventually made 51 runners, so covered the 10 seat Guarantee, with £220 to 11th.
Of the 10 qualifiers, it looks like 2 had seats already, so the Nottingham Lobby increases from 32 to 40. There are around 10 more weekly Finals to go, so considering the event is nearly 3 months away, we seem to be doing OK.

Oops, updated Lobby, with Mr Ambo added.

Meanwhile, the week has whizzed by, & as it's Sunday, tonight sees another Final, with 10 x £1,100 Seats Guaranteed, with 1 in 5 getting a seat.
At the moment, tonight's UKPC Final has just 36 entrants, so it's very possible we will see a touch of overlay this evening.
Plenty of Satellites today, & don't forget, today's Semi-Final is earlier than the rest of the week - it is at 7.15pm tonight.
The three dozen who have already booked their seat for tonight's Final at 9.15pm are.....
Might in fact only be 35, as this chap might forget he has qualified;
Last night's Final eventually attracted a slightly disappointing number of entrants - 45 - so there was a one seat overlay.
To be fair, the UKPC is still nearly 3 months away, & we have 10 more weekly Finals still to come.
So, 10 went through last night, & the Lobby now shows these 23 all set to be at DTD in February, well done to them.

The weekly UKPC Final is at 9.15pm this evening.
10 x £1,100 UKPC seats Guaranteed to Nottingham in February, & needing 50 to cover tonight, it only has 37 registered at present.
Satellites & feeders will be running throughout today.
These are the 37 safely registered so far......

And so here is the Nottingham Lobby as of now;
Tonight there is another UKPC weekly final with 10 x £1,100 seats GUARANTEED.
The Overlay Alert is in place - it needs 50 runners to cover, & as of 0830 this morning, just 38 are registered.
As ever, today there will be satellites, feeders, All-Ins, bla bla.
These are the 38 in tonight's final already;
