Am I missing something here? Is this not a promotion aimed at priority players? I doubt many 'lower' stakes players would get any where near the 10K + points required*
*unless players could use their stock pile of old poker points?

There are a number of players who play nl20 (reasonably small stakes?) who make priority monthly

Exactly.
Also quite a few who play reasonably small staked DYMs.
I really wanted to give everyone in Priority a shot at winning a valuable prize, with an interesting twist.
There's a huge range of players in Priority, and I think this promotion gives everyone a fair shot.

Probably worded poorly on my part. By lower stakes players, I meant I wanted to do something that doesn't just appeal to people playing 100nl+.
As you know, the stock pile of old points have already been cashed in, in the form of the old monthly payments, and the new weekly payments, so we couldn't really take them into consideration.

Fair enough, I hope it does attract/reward more players.
As for the red bit....errrrr, no they havent. I have nearly 50K poker points 'stock piled' from the early days before the reward system was in place.
Maybe not your area, but there is a thread about this, which hasnt had any official feed back on yet.....
You're correct, it's not really my area, but there's something I'm unsure on, which I'd appreciate a chance to test.
I'm going to add my thoughts here, as I think the OP on the other thread potentially isn't talking about points before the rewards system.
As far as I'm aware, Poker points are not currently removed from accounts, once earned, and haven't been for a while. So, I'd presume that the points total in your account will increase by however many points you earn, in the next week, for example. This would mean every point you've earned in the last couple of years would be added on top of that total.
At the same time, I wasn't aware that there was a time before a points based rewards system, where points were still allocated to accounts. In fact, I wasn't old enough to gamble when Sky Poker was launched, despite my weak hairline suggesting otherwise.
Were we offering anything in exchange for points before the introduction of a rewards scheme?

Cheers for the reply. I will have to be careful how I answer though, as I admit I do not know all the facts surrounding these points, and the lynch mob might come down on me like a ton of bricks.
I think nowadays I always make the min required (50pts) to gain something back from the new rewards system. Please note, I am not knocking the reward system but players who gain less points than this will have a 'bank' of points that build up. I understand that there are some freerolls which some could be used for though.
So in my case, points would never be added to my 'bank' as the current reward system would allocate any earned (now weekly) points into something else like a token or rake back in form of a cash payment.
The grey area here is of course the old points accumulated over the years prior to this current system. I honestly can not remember how these points were used up previously so do not know what or if they were exchanged for anything back in the old days, when you were in shorts dreaming of the Las Vegas lights
Again, thank you for taking the time out to debate this subject. The answer is ofc to change them all into cash out of Orfords recent poker winnings.

No problem! I was thinking the exact same thing.
I can understand your line of thought, but I don't think that's the case.
I think that if a player earns 50 points in a week, these points will stay in the players account, regardless of the fact that the player has been rewarded for earning those 50 points.
I'm almost 100% certain that during the old rewards scheme (especially towards the end), if a player earned 100 points, and qualified for a £1 bonus at the end of the month (1p/point), these points would not be deducted from the players account.
On our end, the points are used to indicate a player's level of play. We don't exchange the points for cash, or cash the points out, we just use the amount of points earned in a week to determine the amount the customer is rewarded.
This is what has made me think that you've already been rewarded for the built up points in your account, However, I may be wrong. I've taken note of the points currently in your account, and will review next week. I'll do the same with a couple of different accounts to back it up, either way.

there were two different points systems. the c4p sytem (which has become the weekly points reward) was one points system for participation, whereas the other one gave points for results. the points for this particular scheme used to be used to enter a tournament run once a month/quarter(?) but fell into disuse.
we have built up a reserve of these points but no longer have any mtt to use them in.
Like I said, it is a grey area and a subject that has been aired many times over the years on here, but never really been resolved, as such.
The points 'bank' I, and several others have, are a by product of years gone by. I do remember it being a very touchy subject previously and a few regs even left the site over it.
It will be good if you looked into it though/debated it with others on the Sky poker team and let your findings be known. Cheers.
It had been brought up many a time and nothing will be done about it because i think if i recall it will cost sky to much if they enabled them to be used for something other than freerolls. Years ago i was hoping for a store where you could spend them like other sites that shall not be named.
i have 721,271 banked points so imagine what others have old players Ajs, glitterbabe, james, sam etc etc etc even alvez recently, it would be great to use them on something worthwhile but idon't think many expect anything to be done and rightly so i think.
Didn't want it to turn into a 'I have more points than you' thread but take your view on board Ben. Not sure why you think nothing would be done though...as I am sure you may have participated in the Vegas f/roll put on a couple of years ago using a few of these 'dead' points up.
That is basically all I am asking for.....use them up to clear them or turn around and say they are dead points which we will all have to accept and move on.
I wasn't trying to make it i have a more points than you thread you mentioned the amount of points you had first i was using it as an example to illustrate just how many other players would actually have more than myself and it would still create problems. Im not expecting anything to happen for that exact reason as mentioned apologies for having an opinion aswell.
No i did not participate in those freerolls because of the amount of points they took to enter i thought sky was planning something like a shop then and was trying to flush out everyones stocked points. Anyway i'll go stockpile somemore points and keep of the thread.

I think most of us have, but you always get one or 2 stragglers who can't let go of the past.

Thats pretty impressive I only have a measly half a million or so.
I bumped into Dan at g casino in sheffield about a week ago. We were remenissing when Sky Poker was at its peak and your name got a mention. Unfortunatly cash games have been declining rapidly every year. Is it same with the sit and gos?
As far as I can see Tommy is the game will be set up as a timed tournament with 1500 chips for each player. Blinds will be 5/10 and it will run for two hours. Rake shouldn't be an issue.

Exactly.
It was going to be run on a cash game table, but it caused way too many problems. So yes, the Big Cash Game will be played as a timed tournament, with fixed blinds. At the end of it, you'll receive £1 for every chip you have left.
Is this for players who are already prio in december,or to make prio in december? Also you say its a 2 hour game with no breaks - what if we get hungru during the game? will there be complimentary snacks provided? Posted by alex1229
Both the prize draw and the freeroll are open to anyone earning the required points!
I'd advise preparing a plate of nachos with cheese, grilled to melt the cheese and keep the nachos crisp. Maybe a bit of salsa.
Not sure about this promotion. Who exactly is it going to incentivise?
No-one with a family who plays moderate to low stakes will make priority over Christmas, no matter what the incentive. I think this promo will just be giving 9 grand to professionals who would've played anyway.
It would've been better to sweeten a few pots in January.
