In Response to Re: UKPC - Points Race : I dont get what their is to explain. Paying rake and earning points is not a good thing. If someone earns say 5k in a month and pays 3k in rake and gets 20% rakeback he comes outs with £2600. If someone earns say 5k in a month and pays 2k in rake and gets 10% rakeback he comes out with £3200. *above is just a rough example to illustrate my point I am not saying you will get 20% rakeback if you pay 3k in rake etc When I used to enjoy poker I used to earn 40000 points a month but I never once tried to earn them. You've just said it yourself there. You made around 40k points a month but never tried to earn them and I'm pretty sure the same applies here. Alvez could stop playing for the rest of the month and still be in the leaderboard but he hasn't. He isnt going to stop playing because 10% rake means he gets more back than 20%, this is why I don't see your point.
AJS, I don't quite know what you're talking about since getting a higher rakeback % REDUCES rake - effectively, the more rakeback you get, the less you pay in rake.
Yes, no rake is better than high rake and high rakeback, that is true - however, since no sites have zero rake, it's in the players' interest to try to reach the highest rakeback bracket possible to EFFECTIVELY lower the rake. Sorry to emphasise the word effectively, it's just I think that is the key point that you're missing.
So, in the case of Alvez, he has already reached that bracket for Sky Poker and is now playing either out of enjoyment or he thinks he's simply +ev in those games (with his 32% rb) - whichever it is, perhaps both, I don't think anyone is in a position to speak badly of these people (and their achievements), or not praise them.

You put it far more eloquently than I did.
My comment was genuine, & well-intended. I've met Alvez, who won (amongst a lot else) a package to Punta Cana, so we spent a week or so out there & I got to know him quite well, & enjoyed a meal with him one evening.
He's a smashing lad, never speaks ill of anyone, bright, intelligent & articulate. It would be impertinent of me to ask, but I very much got the impression that he loves poker & makes a good deal of money from it. He's not daft by any means, so as far as he is concerned, I'm guessing he knows what he is doing when he gets involved in these points races.
I really don't have any intention of feeling bad for wishing him well.

You mention this in most posts you do.
Everything is negative from you.
I'm curious. If you have this much dislike for the game and the people who play it,why do you play?
You play him Hu and see if your profitable lol. Posted by mrleemr1
Im up on him lifetime over a massive sample (10 games) ... true story.
Seriously though those totals are incredible. I qill earn around 10 - 12k points total for this month and I feel like I have been playing way too much.
Incredible dedication the winners will truly deserve it!

Hi,
Apologies, I never saw this question until this morning.
The T & C's are quite clear on this;
"No cash alternative is available for any part of the Sky Poker UKPC Main Event seat. Winners must not sell or transfer their Sky Poker UKPC Main Event seat to any third party"
Anyway, I'll pass it to the Prio Manager for consideration & comment, & if I hear further, I'll let you know, or maybe they will contact you direct.
