I think I went mostly with fee see no last time but I wasn't consistent on it. At least there are no hughjanus/ hoofhearted / waynekerr etc in there. There was a race horse called hoofhearted and a player on either Poker NIght Live or early sky poker tv days. I am sure there have been a few others but I cannot remember any specifc ones. Tikay? Who did you have to think carefully about on TV commentary? Posted by Phantom66
There is always THE Classic 'MikeHunt' from the film 'PORKY'S'
In Response to Re: HUFA II - REGISTRATION OPEN - Prizes confirmed and Neil Channing is on board : Lol misty, in my local social club many moons ago, one night the lads tricked a rather large, elderly barmaid ( although very popular) into answering the club payphone which was located outside the ladies and gents. She's come out the ladies, no one else in the lobby, the call was made by a lad outside in the car park., she answers the phone. It was a Saturday, fairly noisy, so she increases the volume 5times with has anyone seen MikeHunt. In the following thirty seconds there was more beer on the floor than was knecked. She was completely oblivious as to why the whole lounge bar was in fits. Posted by chilling
In Response to Re: HUFA II - Community Heads Up Comp - Last week of Registration which closes Friday 28th October : I think a bye is my best chance of geting through round 1 Posted by Sir-Gary
I have extended registration to the end of the month as I will probably not be able to make the draw until midweek.
There will be a small preliminary round to get down to 64.
I will try and arrange the draw so that both the preliminary and round 1 draw is completed.
That way winners of preliminary ties know who they play next and everyone will be able to start playing at the same time as most players will have a bye into round 1.
^^^^ You are all in, I am just waiting to see if Chilling's techincal issues are resolved and he has a change of heart before allocating numbers in the draw.
Having stood in recently in the North v. South RYDER CUP which was great fun, I'm sure this will be just as good..... and being born in Preston myself, I want to support you too. (Apparently we lived in Fulwood.....moved to Sheffield when i was 18months old, but grandparents lived at Lostock Hall)
FA Cup style.....if your PNE....I'll be 'The OWLS'
I was born daaan saaafff but I consider myself a naturalised northerner now. Lived in Lostock Hall for about 6 years, in Penwortham now. I do support the mighty PNE.

WOW.....not many people know Lostock Hall at all (there's a horse of the same name in training currently and has managed to win twice now over hurdles...i think) My Grandparents had a shop which I believed was initially converted into a bank, then a Dr's surgery. 440 Leyland Road just down the road from the Newsagents, SPAR and chippy...used to be the main road to Blackpool and so busy when I was a kid....but been by-passed years ago now.

Looks like it's back to a house now (checked on googlemaps streetview).
When we lived there (early-mid nibeties) there was a Natwest bank on the other side of the road (opposite Tardy Gate pub) but that closed a long time ago.
There is a newish doctors surgery further up the road towards preston, I remember it being built, so maybe they moved out into there
Mrs P and I lived on Albrighton Road, our first house together, had our first child there, so plenty of happy memories for me too.

They sadly died in the '70's.....and the house was sold and I'm pretty sure became either a bank or Dr's Surgery, but it was on same side as SPAR...heading into Preston/Blackpool. It will have changed so much I'm sure...... I remember going over the main road(as it was then) and going to the children's park about 400yards away......probably a Housing Estate now !!!
Great that you know it though......not very many people do
It's the house to the right with the white door, two doors down from the computer shop.
There is a childrens rec behind the car park behind the SPAR where the annual carnival finishes. It souds like the park you used to go is somewhere else though?

Thanks for the link to Google Maps, I'd never thought to look there. It can't have been no.440...... My Grandparents shop is now the Medical Centre down the road. (I thought it was a Doctor's) .....It had changed to that when I visited it 20years ago, last time I was in Preston
Having taken a walk on google maps.....we used to cross the road, down Marina Grove and the park we played on was the open grassland on Lourdes Avenue, though we did play on the rec. too.....Great memories
