Some of you may remember me from a diary I had on here a number of years back entilted 'Ramblings of a young man'. That diary died when I moved to Gibraltar and I found myself with less time to play poker.
The title also feels a little out of date as I no longer feel like the young man who started playing 7 years back!
I've started playing a little more online recently, but this post is more to highlight my live endeavours.
I'm planning on going to the WSOP in 2018 (fingers crossed), and on route i'll be playing a few other live events to build up confidence on the live scene.
I've just started my own blog on www.ramblingsofg.com which will follow my route to the WSOP. The reason i've stuck it on a separate site rather than directly on here is because the tournaments aren't directly associated with Sky and I don't like the idea that Sky could close the thread on a whim (not that they necessarily would).
Sky was where I first started playing poker so I'd appreciate any feedback/support along the way. I'll be updating this thread everytime I upload a new post. Can't imagine it'll be that often.
In Response to Re: Ramblings of G : indeed - basically retired from online play - just fool around every now and then. You doing well? Still remember watching you not win the jackpot. Posted by GELDY
ahhhhh. i had almost forgotten about that
yeah im not too shabby. Just looking forward to panama now. hoping for some run good
1. careful even with taxis - not always the safest means of transport in dodgy places 2. good rule of thumb to avoid live tells - forget the sunglasses but the delay on folding bad hands is good advice. You don't need to do it every hand (which requires a certain an*l disposition that online players aren't known for) but make sure you do it on at least as many hands you fold as those you call/raise. Oh, forget the music if you want to pick up live tells. Save that for when you have a talkative PITA at the table that is proving a distraction. 3. card protector definitely, and something you have a story about is best. Even a foreign coin can have a conversation about it. You may be sharing the table with your fellow players for many hours so good to get off to a sociable start.

Don't have many options other than a taxi or walking - not sure what else i can do. Hot air balloon?
The delay is definitely good advice in not giving away tells. Think the card protector will help me with that. In terms of what I can use as a card protector - im a little bereft of ideas. Yes i'd like something personal but it looks like I have nothing that even remotely fits the bill.
googled batman figurines came up with a few dunno this might do ya on amazon. 7 cms tall theres loads out there tho. gl in panama. will put link in not sure if links are allowed tho https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01CUDJ15E?psc=1 Posted by UrABawBag2
Cheers for this. Will have a browse for sure. Lots of choices out there - just about finding the right one!
One of my mates has suggested something involving pizza because of my first blog. Think it could be a good idea. Might get something personally made on one of those 3D printing sites....
Decent reads Gazza. Some players will only place their protector on their cards when they want to continue in the hand (pre) you can normally spot people getting ready to fold when they leave the protector to the side. Something to consider maybe.

Cheers mate. Yeah i did think that. I was thinking i could look at my cards when I first get dealt (rather than waiting my turn), place protector on card regardless if im going to play hand or not.
Never look at your hand before your turn. Put your protector on your cards when you get them. Wait until your turn then act accordingly. Anything else risks giving away information.
Thought I knew your alias from somewhere.....I remember where from now Just in case you haven't seen it yet....NH Sir #owned https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Etz4V3qIbM Good luck with this and your Panama trip. Posted by MAXALLY

In Response to Re: Ramblings of G : It was a Roller from last year (or even the year before) I dont sat into it often, but enjoy playing it when I do.....until I get owned that is Posted by MAXALLY
Lol. Bluffing with showdown value has to be my favourite move! I do love the image I have. Even Ryan has me pegged!
Hope to pull a few of those moves out successfully in Panama

LOL yeah I could go down that route.

One of the most interesting hands I've played in a while which sparks a debate about the ethics and integrity of Poker...

Been reading up today. Looks like I don't need a Visa with a British Passport, but possibly need a certificate of a Yellow Fever Vaccination?
Anyone been and know what I need to sort out?
Running out of time....
