Software Issues

edited May 2017 in Poker Chat
Is anyone else having problems with tables lagging when using the download client?

it seems to be pretty constant now.

I've tried playing the browser and although it doesn't lag it take an age for the tables to load. By the time it opens the other person has already been playing for 2 minutes.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop the lagging?

I'm playing on a desktop using a wired connection

I have had it all week and last night I couldn't get downlod to work at all after 9pm, then even on browser it was awful, I eventually gave up (prob. saved a few quid ;-))

I posted last night in feedback area.

Yes, I've found it to be lagging quite a lot this week, makes it quite exciting having the delay for the river card and then seeing the chips heading your way as it catches up with itself. Although the reverse seems even more painful.

    Same again today.

Not sure if this is something at my end or SKYs end.

Anybody have any ideas on what would cause this?

    Its driving me mad!!

I play thru Chrome on the browser and I'm having same problem. If I'm playing 2 tables and play one of the All-in sats..... just not worth having the table up to watch coz it affects the other 2 so much.

Spoils the fun of the All-in sat........SIGH

I don't know how the Big Multi table players cope.... it would do my head in.

I play on chrome and everytime I enter a tourny that has already started I get lag.
I enter the table and it says 'sitting out' and more often than not I have 1 anti missing from my stack.

Even worse when you see your auto-folded cards are good cards you would have played or won the hand with. :(

I play through chrome and it's not too bad when i have 2 tables open. But, if a 3rd opens all the tables freeze making it impossible to play. It's very frustrating.

Having the same issue maybenever don't normally play more than two tables but with it been f.o.s.p night thought i would give it a go, had trouble straight away freezing and for some reason i had trouble trying to control my mouse as soon as i manage to click one table off everything is fine, very strange. Think in the future i will stick to 2 tables at any one time.

I tried playing through the download and it was worse. It kept freezing with only 2 tables open. Looks like 2 tables at a time for me also.

    Hi All,

I haven't ignored this thread I have been looking at the issues that have been reported with our tech team. There seem to be two contrasting flows here but both reporting the same issue of lag on both the Download Client and when playing on Chrome. To help with a diagnosis are you able to answer the following questions?

When did you first notice the issue?
Does the issue occur everytime you play or can you have some sessions where there are none?
Does the issue happen straight away or does it introduce itself midway through a game/ session?

Your help on this would be much appreciated.

    I play on DC
All fine up to 5 tables and then immediately it begins to lag. This started about 2 weeks ago
Find a player and My tables have not worked for about the same time
After 2/3 hours of playing I will always get disconnected. Bit frustrating when it was when I got heads up the other night (yeah final table brags)

I don't mean to be rude but is there really much point in us telling you these things?

    Having problems again today.

Playing on Firefox on browser. Laptop wireless connection.
Table loads, get to play one or two hands then it freezes mid round. For example, the £5.50 £150 guaranteed BH running now, I was mid hand, I RR and kept clicking bet button but it just freezes .... then after 5 mins table suddenly shows me as away.
Then the table goes blue as though re-loading (for about 5 mins), then it runs as normal again.

This has happened approx 4 times in last 24 hours. Not moaning, hoping this info helps for trouble shooting.

Yes there is a point as it helps me put more meat on the bones when speaking to the tech team. I am the first to acknowledge that there are issues and the first to bang the drum to the people who matter within SB&G. Unfortunately for many months I have been fighting a battle that I am not winning but I do now have a light at the end of the tunnel.

The issue i'm having started happening a few weeks ago. Everything is fine with just two tables open. Once a third table opens then all tables freeze making it impossible to play any of the tables. If i close out of one table then immediately the other two tables become playable again. I hope this info helps.

    Hi Sam

I first noticed the issue at the start of this month. Never had a problem previous to this.

Its happened on every session i have played this month, not always straight away. Sometimes it will start lagging after a few games.

    Thanks

Hello my lovely, it's been a long time.  How have you been?

I don't frequent social media anymore so completely off the radar with goings on for many many months. Was at a casino abroad recently and bumped into an old 'next door' member (MattyMoon...Mathew Lawrence I believe).

As previous people have said, in my experience, the issue is not always prevalent at the start of a session. Sometimes it won't happen at all (just finished a session playing up to 10 tables and was fine).
However, seems to occur for me when the client (I play on download) has been running for a while. When the freezing/lagging occurs, I tend to have close the client completely, disconnect and reconnect to the internet and restart the client. This sometimes solves it but not always, and can be very detrimental when playing quite a few tables!

Hope this helps you diagnose the problem.

I've been experiencing the exact same thing as YouMad (although I tend to only play a maximum of 6 tables at any time).

I'm pretty new to the site and have only been playing on Sky since the start of the month but it has been like this from the word go for me (I use the downloaded client with windows 10). Has this table lagging problem always been an issue or is it a more recent development? If it's a new thing I can at least have a greater sense of hope that a fix may be in the pipeline!

+1 this is what is happening to me also on chrome for about two weeks . But i also seem to have trouble controlling my mouse when i have three tables open which is a bit strange and everything is ok  again when back down to two except a bit lag here and there . Gl sam hope you get it sorted.

I tried playing in internet explorer and could play 4 tables at a time with no problems. When I play in chrome I can only play 2 tables. Once 3rd table opens then all tables freeze.

I had nothing better to do this evening and it's been a while since I did anything useful on Sky Poker so I have done a quick investigation into this and discovered the following:

Using a fairly old PC running a CPU from 2009 (AMD Athlon II X3 435) the following Sky Poker clients utilise the CPU% shown depending on the number of tables opened.

    Client 1 Table 2 Tables 3 Tables 4 Tables 5 Tables
    Firefox 29 33 31 34 36
    IE 64 bit 15 25 29 37 55
    Chrome 21 40 52 96 96
    Download Client 15 18 26 28 30

This shows that Chome basically dies after 3 tables and is by far the worst browser to use.  Firefox or the Download Client appear to be the best.

For Sky_Sam's benefit here are CPU / memory / IO graphs showing me opening each window in turn for each of the clients.

You can clearly see Chrome going nuts every 15 seconds or so.
