with only 1 real shock im shocked there was only 18 units splitting this. am also glad we didn't have only the 1 banker today. I'm sure on other days there will be a perfect banker Posted by MICKYBLUE
Yes. We'd only need an outsider or two in ( that we had) to scoop it. Benefits of a rollover. :=)
Perhaps you didn't take the stake off of the winnings in your calculation Posted by StayOrGo
Quite correct. It must have been all the excitement. I have never been so interested in horse racing since Foinavon won the National, over 50 year ago!
1625 units going into leg 4 and you have 1.5 of them Posted by Phantom66
Actually Phantom, just to correct you here for the future.
After leg 3 we were in all perms. We had 12 combos left in perm one, 36 combos left in perm two and 14 combos left in perm three. So at 50p per combo we had in fact 62 lots of 50p combos left, so we had 32 units of the 1,625 that were left at that stage.

Proves we can do it guys. Very well done to all involved. Alot of hard work went into this but has proved worthwhile Posted by zadoc
Indeed there was and your contribution is massive R!
It's quite a bit of work putting those spreadsheets together, and you doing it is a massive help to me, and allows me more time to focus on other aspects.
I rarely drink now days, but I have just put some beers in the freezer to "quick cool".
When I set this Jackpot Syndicate up, I didn't really know how the selection process was going to work, and how best to get others involved with it.
However I am really pleased with how things have taken shape following the trials. We seem to have learnt together as we went along, and the way so many people are inputting in different ways is just awesome.
It wasn't a massive win today, but a win it was, and it was a total team effort. So thanks guys for all the enthusiasm and support. Even those that are not sure about horses and don't want to make picks have been supportive with their words of encouragement, or helping in other ways.
I really hope this is a stepping stone to further success.
I feel we have a solid strategy although I still maintain that it will only balance out over mid/long term, but great to get a win so soon. I am sure we will get many near misses, but hopefully another win won't be too far away.
Anyhow. I am going to enjoy a few cool beers tonight, and toast you all for your input and support and how everyone has come together as a team.
Poker can very often be an "individual" thing, so it is nice for me to join together and be on the same side as my peers and poker friends.
Massive Congrats all involved. Have watched this thread from day 1 but not got involved as I am utterly bamboozled by horse racing. This thread is like a breath of fresh air on the forum at the moment, wish you all the best with your future attempts.
Fantastic result Graham and the team. I have no idea about the process but I do recognise all the work that is going into it along with the expertise. I'm just happy to be part of the syndicate. Here's to more success.

I think Vaigret deserves a shout out for raising a red flag on Dahik. I agreed but I wouldn't have the confidence to do so without him speaking up first.
Overall some great picks by many and a brilliant adaptation of strategy.

Thanks Phantom. My banker was terrible, but the strategy was OK. I always said I am more of a probability and statistics guy than a horse racing expert. :=)
Between us all we got there, which was good to see. :=)
