There is a potential "two perm" option in case the "banker" gets beat too.

Would we need to be sole winners to make a profit?

    No, not at all.

    Sole winners for a 50p line = £5K.

Say 10 units win, unlikely unless nearly all favs win, then that's £500.

But I would say that unless every favourite won, that's the least we'd win if we got it. With towards £5K being more likely.

I'd say a 1 in 8 chance of winning, but average win = /> 8 times stake as good chance of being sole winner if we got it.

    Cheers,

    G

I think the troops are resting at the moment judging by the lack of response so far! It could be a case of pushing your luck to soon or striking while the iron is hot ..... take your pick!
I would always back you if you fancy it but perhaps wait to see what the form guys say after they have had chance to look at the card. There is also the possibility of a change of going during the meeting with some heavy downpours forecast which could impact on our selections after the bet has been placed.
You are the best judje of whether or not it represents value so that should be your decision.

Just WOW - that's all I can say lol

Snuffer kindly pointed me in the direction of this thread as I rarely pop into this section of chat as I have zero knowledge of horses so I'd be useless in selection help.  My personal fav is to bet on a grey horse lol - I'm sure that's very scientific.....

Happy to go along with whatever you decide Mr StayorGo.

    Good luck all x

Yeh, not sure where the guys are.

Thanks for the weather heads up. I checked bbc.co.uk/weather for Chester and it looks like just some showers which should have minimal impact, but good to keep an eye in case it changes. TY

Cheers Vaigret, it was largely down to you that we didn't just go with the banker in the 5th leg, so you should take a lot of the credit for this, well done mate!

I will be wading thru the chester card 1st thing as there are 2 EPRs and a pick7 so if you are going for it I will chip in if I have anything to add.

OK. I'm getting an early night tonight. (As I stayed up all last night)

Roger if people want to go for it, then if you could try and get the prepped card to me by 10am tomorrow, that would be great.

We can then make a late decision again.

    Cheers,

    IM game of course
no work tomorrow so can do non runners etc with ease.
  • edited May 2017
My first look for tomorrow comes up with

1.50 Rene Mathis won last time and handicapper has kept him on same mark. Drawn 5 so not too bad

2.25 Mirage Dancer won once and Stoute won this with Kris Kin. On his win the second third and fourth have franked form Sorry I know this puts doubt on the banker again

3.00 Rosabelle not be out of first two three times at this C/D and drawn 1

3.35 Western Hymn hopefully he can get over his quirks

4.05 Cheerfilly Drawn 1 and trainer has won two out of last three runnings

4.40 Duke of Firenze 6th in abbaye last year , winner Marsha won well at Newmarket and trainer had winner today and knows how to handle sprinters

5.05 St Marys 10-1 ok not in jackpot but I have a feeling for this and Baldings produce good apprentices
  • edited May 2017
OK, it looks like a possible go.

Roger if you could please do the spreadsheet when you get a chance (anytime before 10am tomorrow will be great).

I will then get spreadsheet out to removers for 11am.

We can pick 3 naps each again.

It's not a definite, but a "likely", I would suggest.

    Cheers,

    G

this looks tougher than todays card im struggling to fancy anything in the last. i would really like a banker here to allow more selections in the few open races. but i like the look of mirage dancer. cliffs of mohar won well but was in ireland which is not my strong point at all. anybody know anything about race? (in syndicate or not?).

evergate withdrew from todays last for the 3pm and a ok draw so connections there must fancy there chance. that with roseabelle will be a good race.

15 35 i can see a bigger priced horse winning.

we really need lots of voices on this 1 im thinking.

great minds think alike with Mirage Dancer and you are right 3.35 is one tough race

I've been having a look at the Friday Chester card, and I agree with MICKYB and VAIGRET that it is a lot more difficult than Thursday's card. I'm definitely struggling to see a banker with confidence.
CLIFFS OF MOHER is this year's hyped Superstar Ballydoyle Derby horse according to my Dad, who told me to watch out for it a month ago. I follow all Aidan O'Brien's horses, but I always like to see them run first in their 3-y-o career. His horses are in fantastic form, and it may well win, it's obviously got more speed than VENICE BEACH & Co. from Thursday, due to it being his only entry in the 2.25 race today, so it must be pretty good, but I think Michael Stoute's MIRAGE DANCER must be another horse with a huge amount of potential too, 'coz he often targets this race with his best 3-y-o, and I certainly wouldn't leave it out of any perm.
    Obviously I'm not in the syndicate, but I would be taking a cautious view and sitting on my 'STACK' and waiting for a better spot.... (:D}

Tough to make the case for a single banker strategy.

I would be interested to see what plan B looks like but there are some pretty open races over the longer distances.

edit:Cliffs of Moher has been backed well into odds on territory so statistically you have your banker. Not as easy to oppose as Dahik was yesterday but there are 2 other genuine contenders in Bay of Poets and Mirage Dancer.

I wont be around later so GL if you are going for it.
  • edited May 2017
im interested in a plan b as well. cliffs of moher is only the real banker, the rest of fav might win but there are lots of others with plus next to them

found my fancy in the last and just noticed vaigret has backed it aswell :) duke of firenze.

quite a few non runners already aswell which ill post on correct thread once its here

    Final thoughts...

Weather could have a say, rain is expected the forecast said "light showers" but the weather radar suggests could be more.

(Zoom in and "play" to see if anything is landing on Chester)

Definitely worth keeping an eye on - Cant see it change to soft but could take the sting out of it.

On the hard to pick 435, I have napped Judicial but I do see alot of danger.

Duke of Firenze as already mentioned, Canny Kool who has course form and the draw to suit it with a strong front run.

Reflektor was withdrawn yesterday and runs today and maybe those showers will help.

Just spotted this article on SL. Seems Chester May festival day 3 is not traditionally a great day for favourites...

Hi guys, just looking at the card now, will get back to you shortly.
  • edited May 2017
I am looking at a two or three perm strategy, I will post a potential idea here (give me an hour) and you guys can decide if you think we should attempt it.
  • edited May 2017
    Hi guys.

Getting a bit short of time, but if you could please give the three perm option on the opening post your approval or not by 12.30pm.

I will then use NAP's selections and removal data to work out the A,B,C,D,E's if it is a GO.

    Cheers,

    G
