It's been a whirlwind week but a very good one. Struggled to find time to post in here so apologies if the lone reader has been disappointed.
Played plenty of cash this week and pleased to say we are looking at about a +$700 week so far. This includes losing $450 in an afternoon in Flamingo where I was playing terribly and being punished for it. It's obviously small fry sums compared to the swings most poker players might endure out here, nevertheless it's looking like I'll be going home with more than I came with which is always a great feeling, and I've not scrimped on the food and drink this week
Only entered 2 MTTs, one of which was a freeroll, but I had to play 12 hours to get entry to said freeroll so when is a freeroll actually a freeroll? Over to Haysie.
The paid tournament was a weekend special at Golden Nugget. It had a pretty good structure for a $150 jobby, so good in fact that I sighed when I sat down as I knew my patience was gonna be tested after playing only cash in the days before it. You know like when the mega stack loads on a Friday night and a little part of you inside dies? Yeah, that feeling. Suffice to say I only lasted a few hours and ended up running an absurd bluff vs a set of kings. Wp me.
Final evening here and we've had a lazy day so far. Didn't get in until 4 this morning so slept in, bought some presents, bit of pool time too. Possibly might play a last cash session tonight but part of me is happy to lock up the profit and relax. I believe we are doing Top Golf tomorrow before the journey home begins at 4pm.
Posting from my phone is tilting so I'll leave it at that and reply to any posts when I'm back on home soil.

Nice to read you had a good time and also turned a little profit Harry

Please take some video, need entertaining until something good appears on netflix.
Apols if I missed it but who is on this Vegas jaunt? What will be the beverage of choice? Will you be dressed more like DTM (worzel) or Tikay? Posted by MattBates
It was with a mate, also happened to overlap slightly with his brother being out there too which was good.
In Response to Re: Vegas (aftermath pending) : Sorry to learn this-I always found the (admittedly small) poker room at Monte Carlo the friendliest on the strip. Posted by Essexphil
I have to admit, Luxor might have been fake news. The other 2 rooms are certainly closed, couple of people at tables said Luxor was either closed or due to close but we didn't pop in there so can neither confirm nor deny,
Agree about Monte Carlo, had some good games in there.
Not surprised about Monte Carlo poker room closing. They rarely got more than one table plus a few alternates for their tournaments in my experience. Luxor though were getting 35+ runners in the 10.30am and 8.30pm tournaments back in March (less for the 1.00pm and 11.00pm). That was despite the near 50% rake they were charging. Someone ought to amend the hotel page as they are still showing on there. Also still showing on Poker Atlas. Begs the question, what are they going to do with this new addition delivered to them in April? Posted by edrich
Photo still hasn't been approved! Bloody hell Sky ffs.
As above, it might have been fake news regarding its closure, we didn't see it first hand and only going off table comments. People tell the truth at poker tables though, no?
Pleased you have had a great time mate. Best places to eat, drink, party? Where did you find the best games? Tikay is over there now. You could always go and annoy him on your last night. Safe trip home. Posted by Donttelmum
Party?! You know how old I am right? The only drinking we did was either during poker games, 5cent beers (have I mentioned them yet?) or at Blondies. Similar for food; no fine dining or anything like that, just ate whatever we fancied... so mostly fried chicken, pizza, healthy grub like that. The chicken place in Monte Carlo always hits the spot, ditto Blondies for breakfast and a couple of pints.
Walked past a bar/club about 2am, located either just outside NYNY or next to it (theme emerging but I can't remember its name), anyway....big queue to get in, pumping music blaring out, really not very appealing. You know you're knocking on a bit when you're delighted to not have any urge to head into places like that.
Best games.....Flamingo is always a favourite, also played at Ballys and Mirage for the first time and was pretty happy sat in both those casinos. I think as long as you avoid the hoodie and shades type that frequent places like Aria and Venetian you're laughing. So many good games going on that its silly to sit in a bad game.
I didn't see Tikay himself, but I did see many 'senior' men that could've passed for Tikay. Who knew old men liked folding?
Good to see you in profit is there any truth in the rumour you put three all you can eat buffets out of business :-) Posted by weecheez1
Thank you, and I couldn't possibly comment on such a wild, unrealistic, frankly absurd rumour, not whilst I have a full stomach anyway. Ask me in a couple of days.
A couple of hands of note from Vegas, to give you a flavour of how funky the tables can be. I'm a balanced guy so its one winning and one losing.
Hand 1.
Location; Ballys
Limits; $1/$2
Time; late
Drinks consumed; enough
So I'd just lost a pot on a 2 3 4 5 6 (no flush) board, where plenty of money had gone in the middle by this point and the guy sticks his last $30 or so in on the river, I obv had to call it and his A7 was good to scoop (I had AQ fwiw). I'm pretty aware the table might think I'm steaming, so it was a great time to be dealt AKcc in the sb....
There is a raise to $7 in early position, a flat from next along, button calls, and I pump it up to about $36 from the sb with the sexy AKs. Original raiser and button both fold, only call coming from the flatter next along.
We get a rather desirable flop of 2x 3c 5c, and inside I am fist pumping. There is already $100 or close in the middle and I am itching to get the rest in, however I elected to check instead of Cbetting this. I was pretty sure he was gonna do my betting for me and I only needed one stab from him to give me the leverage to get my stack in. He duly obliges by betting $70 or something. Now, I'm convinced he has a hand like 77 or 88, and I'm also convinced he isn't folding an overpair on that board (steaming table image and all that), nor do I want him to fold a middle pair when I have a million outs. So I check jam his bet and he calls me pretty quick.
There is no obligation to show your hand in cash, so at this point its a guessing game as to what is good enough for me to hit. All this goes out the window on the Qc turn to give me the nuts and at this point I turn my hand over, before the inconsequential river was dealt (think was an 8, not that it matters). I was wrong about his hand, he'd actually peeled the old A4 and flopped the wheel. Suffice to say he didn't take the hand very well, immediately scooped up what was left of his stack, called the dealer 'stupid' and stormed off. My neighbour succinctly pointed out that the only 'stupid' thing in the hand was calling and then calling again pre with a raggy ace.
All told the pot was around $500, I flicked the nice dealer a red $5 tip for her troubles, apologised for his 'stupid' comment and on we went with the game
Time; mid afternoon....I think. Time doesn't really exist in Vegas.
Drinks consumed; enough.
Hero (thats me, in case it's a grey area) overlimps 66 in mid position after a few limps already, couple more come along and the bb checks so I think we're 7 way to the flop.
We get the desirable J T 6 flop with a couple of hearts. Inside I'm fist pumping, ongoing theme. The bb, an older woman, decides to stick $20 in. Happy days. It's folded to me, I call, couple others behind fold so we go heads up, in position, with bottom set in a limped but building pot. That fist is pumping nicely inside.
Turn is a 4, no heart. She leads again, this time $35. I give it a little dwell and call again. I'm not worried about a flush draw but appreciate I look like I'm chasing which is gonna give me some great leverage on so many rivers to raise my set and get paid off by someone thinking I've missed.
Board completes with a 5, again no heart so the flopped flush draw has missed and the board is J T 6 4 5. She leads for a third time, but this time it was for $30 which was pretty small considering the pot was north of $100 by now. I give it a little Hollywood, play with my chips, announce 'raise' and move a stack of reds totalling $95 into the middle. I have never been so convinced I have the best hand, and obv I'm delighted when she quickly calls. I flip 66 and fully expect to scoop....until she flips over Jacks for top set and the dealer pushes the chips her way. Incred scenes!
I sit there smiling away despite losing. She 100% let me off the hook on the river. The only hand beating her is specifically 78hh. Whilst I could have it, there are so many other hands I can have. I like to think that if she re-popped me on the river (which probably would've been all in given stacks) I'd have given serious thought to folding, but I know that in game there is very little chance I fold, esp after numerous beers! I also reflect that had I raised flop or turn then she gets a full double up, so playing a flopped set slow thinking you're reeling them in, whilst actually being reeled in yourself, saved me a few $$$

Give them a break, it's only been 11 days.
Sorry about that. I've sent a note up asking them to approve it.
