    Hi Tikay

I hope your good lady recovers quickly and that you have a wonderful time in Vegas.

Giving up the ciggies is a very wise decision and congratulations on doing it 'cold turkey'.

I'm looking forward to meeting you and the other Sky players in July.

    Keep well and profitable.

    Cheers

    Paul

Gl Tikay, thanks for the advice, I will try and remember it for next year if I can improve my game and make it there then.

    Hi all, Ladies & gents,

Thanks for the kind comments, I will try & reply to them in the next day or two.

So busy here right now, but nice busy, not bad busy.

Went up country on Tuesday & Wednesday, to Portland, Oregon, then caught the Amtrak Coast Starlight sleeper train down the Pacific Coast to San Francisco, where we went on a whale spotting boat trip, & saw a dozen or more whales.

Oregon is the USA's best kept secret, achingly pretty, almost as pretty as the Highlands of Scotland. Utterly gorgeous, & more pine trees than you have seen in your life.

I played an MTT today Downtown @ Binions. Had double average & then, for reasons I can't really explain, I bluffed most of them off in one supremely badly played hand.

    Ugh.

    Hi Mr Tikay

Just wanted to wish you tons of run good out there.  Is it only Omaha you play when in Vegas or do you also dabble in the 2 card variety?

Look forward to hearing of lots of cashes from you x

    Hi Rose,

    Thank you.

I plan to play mainly PLO, PLO8, Big O (best game in the world), Stud, & Hi Lo Stud. I may even play 1 or 2 WSOP NLH events, but I'm undecided on that at present.

I actually played my first Vegas 2017 MTT yesterday, a $365 PLO8 @ Binions, Downtown. I was going along very nicely, close to double average, until a hand went badly wrong, & that was that. I flopped both nut draws & bet them hard, but missed all my outs on both the turn & river. Undaunted, I bet the river, hoping to get my man off, but he had the world & trapped me all ends up. I think it was the right move at the wrong time, & if I had hit my outs, I'd have been close to chip leader, but them's the breaks. No regrets really.

    I play MTT # 2 tomorrow (Sunday) @ 5pm at Venetian, a $600 PLO8 affair. Can't wait.

I have also played 1 Big O cash session, where I dribbled away a few bob, just a flesh wound really.

Been mainly on Tourist duty this week, as Gill is with me. We flew up to Portland, Oregon, on Tuesday, then caught the Amtrak Coast Starlight Sleeper Train which runs through Oregon along the banks of the River Willamette & then all the way down to San Francisco where we arrived on Wednesday morning. Then we went on a Whale Spotting trip out into San Francisco Bay, under the Golden Gate Bridge & past Alcatraz. We saw 10 or 12 whales, sea lions, seals, pelicans, cormorants, it was awesome. We then caught the 9pm SouthWest.com flight back to Vegas - for which the tickets cost just $20. Awesome value.

    I know, I'm a lucky fella.

In Response to A bumpy landing in Vegas:
Evening all. I'm in Vegas now until mid July. I know, I know, tough gig this. Anyway, I'll be sending a few blogs across. Probably 1 or 2 a week until the Sky Poker players arrive, & then 1 each day, all being well.   In addition, I'll be sending Kirsty some photos from Vegas of various folks or places, some of whom you might be interested in. Finally, I'll do a few threads on the Forum with various bits & bobs. Just little odds & ends of Vegas news & goss. It'll be a fascinating as a day at work with MattPrawn, or an Essexphil Diary entry.

    Hi Tikay,

Sounds like you're having a great time.  The sleeper train sounds like a great trip.  I used to take the first class sleeper train from Chiang Mai to Bangkok while living in Thailand which sounds quite glamorous, but believe me it wasn't.  The beds were definetly made for short Asians and if I chopped my legs off at the kness I might just have been able to get laid out.  Bates would have got a great nights sleep.  At each stop armies of Thai's selling all sorts of legal and not so legal treats would board the train and do their business.  It was roughly a 15 hour trip and cost under 1000B (£20) so how can anyone complain at that,  Could always travel the same journey 3rd class for £2, good luck getting any shut eye though.

Please don't play any NLH events.  You tried to play NL dym's and it almost killed you.  Please stick to what you know best and the format that keeps the stress levels down.  Thank you :)

Have a great time. Don't tell you know who, but I am going to try and join you, starting by increasing my volume from 25 points last month to a whole 100 points in a week to qualify for the Last Vegas FREEROLL.

Any shiny new updates from your adventures Mr Tikay please?   Hopefully you've been too busy cashing to have time to post on here....... :)

    Hi Rose,

Yes, I've been a bit "busy" what with one thing and another, so I'll start a new thread shortly with some more waffle and ramblings.

Cashes? 4 from about 12 so far. I've not had a tot up yet, but I'm probably breaking even, or making a small loss. I've still got 1 or 2 to play yet, before I start work when the Sky Poker qualifiers arrive.

Been a bit frustrating really, made 3 Day Two's but only converted one of them into a cash. Love making Day Two, "bagging up" chips at the end of a long day is one of the great thrills in poker for me.

    My cashes have been:

    $465 PLO8 @ Aria - 17th for $957

    $1,100 PLO8 8 Max @ Venetian - 15th for $2,742.

    $250 PLO8 @ Golden Nugget - 7th for $1,177

    $365 PLO @ Binions - 3rd for $3,965 (did "Business" 3 way, ICM).

So 4 cashes at 4 different casinos. Not terrible, but not exactly crushing, either. I'd have bitten your hand off for those results pre-trip though, as I was ring rusty, as I had not played a single hand of poker since my heart attack.

The main thing is I had so much fun. Playing poker in Vegas is the absolute nuts.

I've played quite a lot of Big O Cash, (Big O is 5 card PLO8) too, at The Rio.
