In Response to Re: Announcement Groupies. : I think you have answered your own OP question Haysie, with the above quote, as to why there are not a load of folk ready to bash any details they may see wrong with a Sky announcement. I see plenty things I would like to be done differently. As an example... the OH8 BH's have done well (relatively speaking) since their introduction. I feel there is room to have quite a few more spread throughout the day and a weekly affair with a bigger buy in etc etc. It seems like a slight mistake to me not to pounce on the current momentum and have a load more. That said... I realise the majority of the forum and site are NLHE players. A load of people might play the odd one so don't care too much. I realise the Sky staff will have their own ideas and they have been employed in these positions because someone feels they are well positioned to make these calls. I realise some SNG players will have concerns about traffic/liquidity. And I realise that some people just wont give a [insert expletive here]. So maybe more will be introduced in line with my personal preferences, maybe they won't. I just have to realise that not everyone sees things the way I do. I will still politely give an odd nudge and hope it works out but there are bigger things to worry about and the things I really like about Sky drastically outweigh the things I do not. It is like this with many of the suggestions you make. Some would love your ideas to be implemented, some would not and the majority couldn't give a [expletive here]. I don't think you mean any harm whatsoever and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting you in Vegas last year and hopefully we can catch up on a future trip and share a couple of beers. That said I think it might just be the correct approach to realise that there are so many opinions to cater for (most of whom are somewhere in the middle and do not really care). Also Sky and the Sky staff will have their reasons (whether they are always correct or not). It is their baby so to speak, and while they should, and IMO definitely do listen to our feedback. The final decisions rest with them. It is not like they are sitting in the office getting smashed on Buckfast, don't give a [expletive here], and are coming up with this stuff by joting the first thing that comes into their heads on the back of a ciggy packet. I mean look at the start time issue you mentioned. It wasn't because they hadn't considered it. There were restrictions with the venue and despite these restrictions they have listened to the feedback and are still trying to see if anything can be done. I personally just feel it is a great move to have the SPT stuff back at all. Some of the stuff they come up with I will love, some I will hate and the vast majority will be somewhere in the middle. While I might voice my concerns on some points, I hope I do so in a way that demonstrates that I realise they are doing their best to do their job well, are receptive to feedback, and cannot possibly please us all. As mentioned I personally think the positives drastically outweigh the negatives on Sky. I am guessing that you feel exactly the same way and that is why you play here. It just doesn't always come across like that when you pull the Sky folks up over several issues. They are just folks trying their best to do their jobs, listening to our feedback and making the final calls on such issues with those and many other points bore in mind. It looks to me like you intend your suggestions to be 'constructive feedback' but the choice of words means it doesn't always come across like this (I am not trying to be a smartass, just glancing at the OP title should show the negative spin I am alluding to). I see this a positive post, why the moaning ? Hasie praises Sky for listening to feedback, and a bit of fun at the expense of a few "groupies ". The main thing is to have the SPT start times altered, this should also help the casino have players in early that may play the tables etc .

In Response to Re: Announcement Groupies. : Irony? The promo wasn't aimed towards you/volume players. You had had your chance via all the normal sat routes, of which by your own admission you played them all with no joy. So they geared it towards a different market, and if you wanted in on it then you really had to earn it. Purposely making the points target large for volume players was probably to deter them and try and ensure the freeroll had more of their target audience. Fair? I'd say it was totally fair. Posted by hhyftrftdr
I just wonder sometimes. How on earth do you know what market it was aimed at? The Chinese market perhaps, or maybe the South Korean market. The points targets suggest that the main aim was to recover the costs. Nothing wrong with that, they are a business after all. However if that was the aim then it was a complete failure from the number of runners point of view. Tikay posted that the intention was to give everyone a chance at qualifying. So I don't know where you get your false info from. Lambert 180 posted that he thought it would easily get over 1,000 runners. Just before it was due to start there were 136 registered. Therefore not an overwhelming success whichever market it was aimed at. Aussie may be able to give you details regarding the numbers of Chinese and South Koreans, I haven't a clue.

I have played on Sky since I started playing poker 9 or 10 years ago. I have played on other sites in addition, but have always preferred Sky. I have enjoyed both trips to Vegas that I have won, and many SPTs. I play a bit more now that I have retired, and have got a bit involved with the forum this year.
The majority of the stuff I have commented on in the forum has not been for personal gain, and the majority of criticism I have levelled at Sky has been regarding stuff that has affected many players.
I do know that nothing was ever changed by people keeping quiet. Equally nothing was ever changed by people agreeing with things that are patently wrong.
The most annoying thing they have done lately is the Last Vegas freeroll. I am not going back through that again but my latest comments are included in the reply to Phantom66 post straight after your post. I will say that even though the unfairness was so obvious, they wouldnt back down and rectify it. They would have gained much respect had they done so.
The SPT starting times are now being changed after the response on the forum. Sky are blaming the casino for this fiasco, which is probably not fair. Any casino will initially offer what is best for them. It is a negotiation.
Lets play a game, it is called, lets book a casino for an SPT. This is my post so I am in charge. You can be my right hand man. That means you do the donkey work.
So I say to you, right Marky we are doing an SPT on 4th August. We want it to be in Manchester. It will run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We want to start at 2pm and finish at midnight. Any casino will be happy to have 200 plus poker players as a captive audience for a weekend. Off you go.
Now if you come back and say Ive got one but they want us to play in the middle of the night. As your boss, I would be thinking how many casinos are there in Manchester? In fact does it even have to be Manchester? How many casinos do we have a relationship with, that will give us exactly what we want? We are Sky. We are the customer. Should I go and sort it out myself?
If I was prepared to accept what the casino offered the outcome would be my fault, as I am the boss and get paid the most.
I am sure the players will turn up whatever happens, but this sort of arrangement lets them down.
If I sent you out to buy me a Man Utd shirt, you go to one shop, and come back with a Celtic shirt because they had run out of Man Utd shirts, that would be wrong. I would expect you to try another few shops and get exactly what I had asked for. It wouldnt be very long before you were fired for too many Celtic shirts. So if you want to continue as my right hand man, best get your finger out.
Getting back to your post, it was long and alluded to things. After reading it a couple of times I am not really sure that I understand fully everything that you are alluding to. For instance there is mention of the title and negativity. The title is what the post is about, and exactly that.
I was pointing out that there are players on the site that greet every announcement made by Sky like it was a lottery win, and agree with absolutely everything that Sky do. Even down to ridiculous starting times.
All my posts are honest, impart my genuine feelings, and state my thoughts as clearly as possible.
I think your post could have much more clearly stated what you wanted to say. I like Ronseal posts, and I can stand a bit of crticism I have got broad shoulders.
Just to finish off, if I was going to crticise the powers that be I would say that they cherry pick the posts that they reply to.
Heres an example. We were recently told that around 20% less people play in the Summer rather than Winter, so the guarantees were being reduced accordingly. This was around a week after a UKOPS and a couple of weeks before a £30,000 game. I asked the question why there was going to be 20% less every night except Tuesday, and Friday as those guarantees stayed the same. This was ignored, as was Jac35 post in January asking why the guarantees are continually dropping. January is obviously Winter and guarantees were being dropped for other reasons.
I cant speak for Jac, but I wasnt asking the question out of a wish to get Sky to reinstate the guarantees, and bankrupt them through the overlay, but to explore the possibility that there were other reasons. Like the tournament schedule, the number of Bounty Hunters etc.
There is normally noone around for the difficult questions.
Despite the fact that Tikay thinks that we are butchers, bakers etc. and know nothing about anything very much. HaHa.
Good luck on the tables.
ps Did anyone know that Tikay was in school with John "Sonny" Franzese the Italian mob boss.
In Response to Re: MTT changes & discussion thread:
What do you think the reason is for Sky having to reduce the guarantees on a regular basis now? I get that in the Summer people play less but the winter months are generally acknowledged as the best times for UK based online poker. Not trolling. It's just that i'm surprised as we hear often enough that Sky is having year on year growth. Is Poker itself growing on Sky or is it that figure across all platforms? Posted by Jac35
Perhaps they will come up with some more attractive tournaments during this review, and maybe more satellites for the bigger buy ins.
I was talking generally as I thought the OP was. WRT to SPT start times I was prepared to take whatever I am given if I qualify, doesn't mean I wouldnt prefer an earlier finish and in my case I could also make an earlier start. As Sky have made clear though they can only request an earlier start time, it is up to the Casino hosting to set times. Sky seemed to have prioritised a good struture over finish time which I would agree with. If the start can be moved earler I am sure more people will be happy (although it may incovenience some on the Friday) Posted by Phantom66
Decent starting times would not need to alter the structure.

I agree with a lot you say Haysie and some parts I just see a little differently. I see where you are coming from but my personal take on it is just a little different. As you yourself said it would be boring if we were all the same.
Regarding the Rangers shirt... If I bought you a Rangers shirt I would expect to be immediately fired. I mean that would just be bang out of order. If I had been creative and bought you a Celtic shirt... Well that is a different matter and would deserve a promotion to a more elevated position within Haysie PLC!
In all seriousness I would hazard a guess that Sky did consider several venues and elected to go with Manchester 365 despite the start times for a reason. The reason maybe being for example that they thought getting that particular venue outweighed a bit of a change in starting times.
Anyways I was just chucking my tuppence in where it wasn't asked for as I tend to do

Right, that post is now suitably edited, and now includes the correct shirts.Doing well with an ex Swansea manager arent they. Tikay doesnt seem to have noticed yet that he was in school with an Italian gangster. I just made it up because he got let out of jail today, but more importantly he is 100 years old. He was in the class below Tikay.

I wouldn't be surprised if you could win the league with Celtic Stoke. However the manner Brendan won the league in (and both cups) was very impressive.
I agree the league could be much better but Celtic are doing pretty well under Brendan and he is bringing the players on brilliantly. Several big clubs are interested in bidding £25m-£30m for Dembele during the summer and Tierney would cost a packet too.
I would love to see Celtic in the English premier but I agree it won't happen. Hopefully they can show how much they have progressed under Brendan when the European campaign starts. The first game of which I think is on when I am in Vegas so it will be a very early rise to watch that
P.S. They would do fine in the premier. Man City played us twice last season and didn't win. If we were in the premier we would be getting a load more money too. Man City were powering along until those Celtic games!

I am in 100% agreement with you there Haysie.
When I made my point I presumed that the later start time was set by the Casino, Sky then had a choice re structure and end times and put a good structure ahead of an early finish which I would be in favour of given that choice.
If the start time can indeed be moved earlier then (nearly) everyone will be happy.

I think that the bottom line is that if more players were prepared to post their honest views on the forum then everyone benefits. I dont mean that all the players should be slagging Sky off at every opportunity, but if they feel something is patently wrong, they should say so.
As an example the SPT starting times will only be changed for the better, because of the players prepared to post their honest views. If we had to rely on the groupies and the players who were not prepared to say anything, then the starting times would have remained the same.
Sky obviously thought they they were acceptable because they booked them. Therefore if nobody had said anything, they might have ended up as standard starting times forever.
I have to agree with op and original post. There are many things that could be improved upon for spt and in time im sure they will be. Feedback was given direct to tikay as forum may not have been as kind.
