Martin O Neil doesn't deserve a mention.....Villa have had an average/poor season...... You need to put in perspective the managers achievements.... Was it harder for Chelsea to win the league, than it was Spurs to come 4th? Or Birmingham 9th? Or Fulham to make the Euro final? Deffo the latter...... and ERIC??? Posted by DOHHHHHHH
Highest points tally since runner up in 93 Carling cup final FA cup semi last won silverware in 96( league cup) average/poor season ????? imo his achievements dont measure up to Hodgson or Ancellotti but he defo deserves a mention ERIC?
3 failures Taras - not good enough id not be too excited about it if I as a Villa fan - same old story Posted by DOHHHHHHH
Fair point but considering they last won the 1st div back in 80/81 and the FA cup in 57, a realistic target was 4th. So 6 pts behind Spurs and 3 pts behind City is pretty descent taking into account the money those clubs had at their disposal. Btw I coach my boys under 17 side and one of the lads is Villa and he reckons supporters are more then happy with Oneil.
Isnt it "Premiership" manager of the year? ...Does that mean you judge on performance in the premiership? or only premiership managers can be nominated? If all competitions are taking into consideration, then Roy Hodgson wins....obviously.... BUT Fulham have had a very average season, even by their standards... Premiership wise, 3 horse race, Ancelotti, Harry and Mcleish...... 3 way tie for me. Posted by DOHHHHHHH
EEEERRRR....... with respect to your opinions, and those of others, can I throw in some Facts,[lol Rafa], to maybe help people in this discusion:-
Fulham started their season in July by beating the Lithuianian champions. In a 19-game MIDWEEK european campaign we have beaten The German, Ukraine,[uefa champs, & fifa 3rd ranked team!} & Belgium champions, not forgetting Hamberg & Roma!! The team travelled more miles than anyone, ever, before in a european season
In the last 16 having lost in the first leg at Juventus 3-1, we went 1 down in TWO minutes at home, meaning we had to score 4 to progress against 'The' Italian defensive masters! When ALL the crowd began singing 'Stand Up For Roy Hodgson'.......The Team responded, now we are equal favorites in the final against the team that beat Liverpool!!
In the FA cup ,after reaching 1/4 final, we got knocked out in a replay, at White Hart Lane, after being unlucky at home.
In the premiership, we beat Man utd 3-0, Beat Liverpool 3-1, followed by a 0-0 at Anfield,we were is a safe 8-11th, all season, with concensus the weight of mid-week games prob cost us between 12-6 points, putting us 7-9th!!
I think Redknapp has done brilliant this year and last, Ancelloti if he does the double has done brilliant too, in his first season, and I respect totally what Mcleish has achieved at Birmingham!
I am obviosly biased, but think it would be difficult to split the 4 in their differing achievments
In conclusion, Taking a neutral lead from all the premiership managers.... they voted for.....ROY!!
