Hi guys, i know there is quite a few film threads on here, so apologies!. I love my films and having just seen James Hartigans top 10 films its made me start this thread! I would like people to put down there greatest top 10 films of all time, so then by looking at peoples lists you can see if you have similar tastes or not and perhaps come across a few hidden gems that u have never seen before...
so here is my top 10 in no particular order...

The Shawshank Redemption
Pulp Fiction
True Romance
Goodfellas
Lord Of The Rings Trilogy
Avatar
American History X
Fight Club

Perhaps it's included because it contains that piece of cinematic greatness? You know, during the attack... "let's get those suckers"

Have to say that your rating of these films is almost exactly what I would give them myself.

Use of the half mark is a bit of a cheat imo so I would round down Shawshank / A.H.X / Die Hard and round up Pulp Fiction.

The only one I would  really differ with is True Romance 9/10

Great list and i love Dead Mans Shoes also

I can't do a top ten, never could as there are hundreds of stand out films IMO that would all be interchangeable in the top 10. But below are some notable mentions that i've either revisited recently or just think are ace

    12 Angry Men
    Chasing Amy
    Dogma
    Dark Knight
    Toy Story
    LA Confidential
The Matrix (only the original, not keen on the others but this one was a specticale when released)
    Trainspotting

What's that lot worth on the Hartiganometer then James ??? lol

P.S sorry to upset any fans of the Trilogy of Jackson but LOTR 1 bored me so much i never even watched the other 2. It sucked big time and although i've heard the others are better i  still can't bring myself to watch them. I'm going to stick to my wonderful memories of the literary masterpiece and Bypass the endeavours of Mr Jackson and his (Phrase Stolen form Kevin Smith Alert) Movies about Walking :)

  • edited June 2010
ive noticed a film been listed on here quite a bit '12 angry men' never seen it, but just looked it up on imdb and its voted the 7th best film of all time!! so this is gonna be a future purchase i think! cheers for the lists guys keep em coming i love seein what people consider good films!...
as for mr Hartigans scores of my list, its pretty good although i think Avatar deserves more than a 4 ok its probably not the greatest film of all time but to watch it at the cinema in 3d was amazing id never seen anything like it and likewise with the blu ray -definatly the best picture/sound quality blu ray out there! ...

also good to see TRUE ROMANCE on so many peoples lists (probably my fav film to be honest) such an underrated little gem! the scene between Christopher Walken/Dennis Hopper in the trailor has to be the greatest scene from any movie of all time!!
