A Nightmare on Elm Street. Or the next door neighbour at 4am.....eeyuck!! Posted by lozgo
I was gonna say that. Watched it recently and it's aged horribly, but it's still a good 'un but was fantastic in it's day.
Is horror/comedy allowed? One of my favourites is Re-Animator! Cheap, some classic 'acting' (eg "West! .... STOP!") but some genuinely fantastic scenes / script lol .... "Who's going to believe a talking head? Get a job in a sideshow." (to Hill's body holding his own seperated head)
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (Tobe Hooper 1974) "Saalleeee!" & Dawn of the Dead (George A Romero 1978) "When there's no more room in hell, the dead will walk the earth". Musta seen these over 20 times each.
An American Werewolf in London (John Landis 1981) "You made me miss! I've never missed that board before in my life.", "A naked American man stole my ballons.", "I will not be threatened by a walking meatloaf!", "You have very beautiful sheep.", "Have you ever tried talking to a corpse? It's boring", etc. etc. That rare beast, a horror/comedy that is actually scary and funny.
Gotta give a big shout out to crazy old Dario Argento for the bonkers but beautiful Suspiria (1977) (check out the blu-ray of this and avoid the awful transfer that film4 show) and Infeno (1980) (blu-ray out next month, mmmmmmm).
Best horrors of recent years been coming out of France, HauteTension aka Switchblade Romance (Alexandre Aja 2003) (get thee down to the picture house now and check out Aja's Piranha 3-D (2010) the most fun i've had at the cinema in donkeys), A L'interieur aka Inside (Alexandre Bustillo/Julien Maury 2007) and Martyrs (Pascal Laugier 2008) three of the most twisted, hyper gory flicks i've had the pleasure of watching.
The 7pm freeroll that has ran every night in August. It is definitely an X-Rated job, even though you do get a five minute break for an ice-cream or a poo. Or both. Truly Frightening.
In Response to Re: Best Horror Movie : how can they be the best horror movies, I watched them when I was 5 years old with the lights off and everything. Posted by Mr_Miyagi
Show off!
Here's a question for fans of The Shining...
In the movie, it's implied that the power to "shine" is hereditary (Hallorann talks about being able to have conversations with his grandmother without speaking). So, from which parent did Danny inherit his "talent"?
You're thinking Jack, right? If so, how is Wendy able to see the ghosts, blood in the corridor, etc. during the final act...?

whats the best horror movie?
The Friday 13th
Years ago i saw Freddie 3D at the cinema and loads of souls and fire and stuff came out of the screen and in my face. It was fantastic.
But nowadays i love the Saw films.

"That wasn't in Bambi, Vyvian."
"It was in the sequel, Bambi Goes Crazy Ape Bonkers With His Drill and Sex!"
"Is that true Bambi? Did you do a Disney Nasty?"
