Help me! :)

edited September 2010 in Poker Chat
hi guys and girlies,

Brief introducting about myself, im 24 yr's young (although not looking forward to my 25 next month) ive been playing poker now about 4 years...

now you may ask why am i asking for help, well the reason is i have NO bankroll management skills at all, im very confident and i play with my entire roll everytime i depoist, now this is either VERY profitable for me or i lose it all with 10-15 mins. you could call it greedyness but im generally trying to become a pro player because i love this game to much. Now id like to think ive got the skills to play pro as ive won 4,5k, 2,8, and a couple of 1k's on WILLIAM HILL, but ive since came to sky poker to improve my cash game as we all know the way to be a profitable player is to grind.

So how can you help a player like me you may ask...?

just some simple advice would be gd, ive got a £300 roll atm, what blind levels should i be playing and any other advice you could give me would be great.

thx guys, love this site and special <3 to Tikay who's made me realise alot fo things these past 2/3 months :)

Why have you only got a £300 roll if you've had wins of 4k, 3k, 1k and 1k?
  • edited September 2010

300 roll and ur playing cash, play NL20 no higher and pick the players u play against. Good level of poker there however and obv 6 table here so diff game as most sites! Wouldnt recommend any higher with ur roll and if u fancy the odd torny but ur not confident with ur MTT play dont enter the primo its a waste of 1 half buy ins. Play the GTDs 60 quid ones are half decent and obv the higher GTDS are worth playing in

    GL at tables

holidays, cleared credit cards etc, i can top my roll up quite easy just id rather not get into the red to do it :)

hi rinsed i would grind it ai 10and20 plus 15and30 build a nice bankroll up then move up
  • edited September 2010

Lol if you wanna be a pro, (or at least take the game abit more seriously) you have to build your poker bankroll, not win abit and use it for other things, you'll never get anywhere......

10p/20p tables wll give you 15 buy ins, if you can beat the games this should be fine.....

But if you're good, and can re-load, I'd go with 30nl......you have 10 buy ins, but shouldn't need them. As you move up I'd advise using nearer to 20+ buy ins.

    And stop going on holiday!

    gl, cu at the tables.

EDIT - Ive just noticed you're sat at the 100nl table Ive been watching this afternoon with £175 !!!!

So much for 20nl eh?? haha gl.

thx for the help guys, and yh dohhhh im a douche, i just find my game suits the higher levels, just because i feel once ive been at the table i can get a gd read on most people. Its deffo a losing play and i know that, kinda get bored at anything lower than 25/50.

when i do get bored at lower levels i end up playing the casino feature here which CLEARLY is a losing play lol.

    :)

this sounds familiar too. When i got bored i ended up betting and watching horses all day, 1st class way to bust a BR.

Although i would recommended going down the levels,

Also hw did you do on that NL100 table?
  • edited September 2010
well, today i started on £140 and now im on £316, ive lost about £20 on bingo and ive lost a primo sat, my AA got busted lol.

and i think ill move down, the other thing i find when i move down is that when im trying to build the pot i often raise way to much and get busted on the river way to much.

i might play some 25/50 and see how i get on. when i started this topic i knew the only person that could help me is MYSELF, just thought it would be interesting and helpfull hearing from people that have been here and done that sort of thing :)

Right my friend if you say you have a bit of a casino problem then please for your own sake go to your account and SELF EXCLUDE yourself from all of the options EXCEPT sky poker and gl at the tables

    Grinding????

you sit on a table, double up within 15 minutes then leave!!! Call that grinding??? haha

Seriously tho, thats great going, do that everyday u'll be able to resign in no-time ;)

Yeh Greg Im guilty of it myself, I manage my account, take out money and bank it, rather than spending it. Problem is when its banked, it feels like my money rather than my poker money, which explains why Im still at 30nl !! But I can't leave it all in coz it only takes 1 crazy night and I'm pot-less :(

now its bed time so no more poker today, i finish with a roll of £903, i came 17th in the primo and got 120 which helped, i then went to a 1/2 cash table with 200 and almost tripled up. then i joined another 1/2 but this time HU.... i lost my first 200, so i reload (dont ask me why) and then i grind my way upto 426 before leaving.

all in all a great day started with 140ish and to finish on 903 was great.

    nite all cya soon :)

thx tia, ill try my best some people arnt going to like my playing style but thats just me... i just wish everyone gl and gd fortune at the tables :)
  • edited September 2010
    Hi M8

You can clearly play the game, but no1 is invinsible, if you want to play fulltime you HAVE to learn BRM, you will have days where you get AA 3 or 4 times, lose everytime and have almost no roll left.

Its not such a biggie atm as you have a fulltime job for when poker dries up, but please please please put some BRM in place or you will soon fall by the way side with thousands of other talented players

flash m8 i TOTALLY understand what your saying and your 100% right..... i do need to be more disaplend but i really cant see myself playing in games less than 25/50

im not trying to me c0cky either, and im deffo old enough to understand the importance of having a bankroll, its just my game suits people that know what there doing around the table. Ofcourse i have my bad days, but id rather lose to someone that has generally out played me than some1 who will call with any 2 and spike me on the river.

i am taking in all the advice people are telling me and i thankyou all because its been so helpful and i apsire to keep improving in the future

So you're becoming a 1/2 reg with £900? Good luck.
  • edited September 2010
browndog im not a 1/2 reg, and yes its the way to bust myself i know, but if i drop below around 600 then i wont play such games, i want to build i roll fast and so far so gd, the people on 1/2 are calling my raises and im getting pay'd alot more than i would on a 25/50 where people just fold. i find the higher up you go the more people want to bluff. im a solid player, got alot of flaws but so has everyone.

on a side note if i do bust, its not the be all and end all, obviously ill be mega disapointed but i only started with 150 and i still have a job, house etc, i just really want to make it in the poker world. I know 90% of you will disagree with me but i wish you ALL luck and i can only hope you wish me the same. :)
