lol cmon sporny how can they answer that !!!!

I had a game of scrabble the other week, and all my letters were flippin vowels !!! How am I supposed to make a word out of them???? - I wrote to the makers of the game, asking them for an explanation, and haven't heard anything back yet.

I know there were other letters in the bag coz I looked after the game, so how come I kept on getting vowels???

btw I am offline tomorrow afternoon, would you like to take over the Lucy stalking for me? I will pm you how to do it.

    :)

    You said.....

".....or are you too chicken to say why...."

What exactly are Sky scared to admit?

Why are you blaming Sky because a player who you describe as a "muppet" & "a donk idiotic stupid play" binked?

Personally, I rather enjoy playing players who have less skills than me. Because I don't see hands in isolation, but I measure the longer term.  And if we can't beat bad players in the medium to long-term........

Had you of won the hand, as you usually (& mathematically) would you be complaing at his dreadful call?

  • edited December 2010
Well i also cannot explain what is going on lately, maybe someone can? i defo cant and as sporny and others say it is MIRACLE rivers non stop.Lets not forget that these are ALL pre determoned hands and i just feel that LOADS of em contain a BAD BEAT if the players are willing to call, now the pre-determined hands are a fact as this has been widely told before its just unfortunate so many of them always nearly contain a FLUSH on them,i mean how often should you realistically see 3 of the same suit on a flop? i very very much doubt it is as often as you see on here, xxx
  • edited December 2010
Three cards same suit on flop = about 5% or 1 in 20. So about four times an hour in online poker per table played.

So, what exactly are you suggesting, Debs?

"loads of bad beats". If there were NOT loads of bad beats, something WOULD be amiss. Because "bad beats" are perfectly standard in poker, no matter where & how you play it. It was always so, & will always be so.

PS - If I suggested you were a cheat - IF (I am not) would you take exception to that?
  • edited December 2010

    How is it done?

Is every single possible outcome assigned a number, then 1 number picked at random?

If so, whoever designed it must have a figure for how many potential different outcomes there could be?

A gazillion???? Surely it's impossible to design something that random? it wud take several lifetimes for someone to do i manually? (fuel the fire ;)

    edited December 2010
I believe there are about 7.8E27 combinations on a 6max table in a hand going to the river lol (merenovice will correct me if thats not right), so def not possible to be done manually. I'm sure a computer could be designed to deal out some of the more 'action' hand combinations on a regular basis though :p
  • edited December 2010

You don't "design" random, it occurs. See "entropy" (Order & disorder). Entropy is achieved by shuffling - disordering - a deck of cards. What happens then is determined by that shuffle.

When the cards are shuffled - BEFORE the hand is dealt - nobody can possibly know what actions each player will then make. To suggest otherwise is......

    Probably.

But it could not predict what actions the players would subsequently make!

People just don't like taking responsibility for the luck in poker. They need to get used to it though, cos it ain't ever gonna change.

So your saying sky don't have a donk list that they purposely deal gut shot hole cards to pre flop, knowing it will hit. Hmm learn something new every day :)

    Lol.

The sad thing is, some people actually think that's true! They have yet to rationalise why though......

The funny thing is so many people say the software is not very good. And yet they think it is able to "pick out" certain players, before they have even acted, & punish them. Go figure that one!

It's my first peek into Area 51 in ages. In think it had better be my last. I mean, really, you could not make this stuff up!

True, but that wouldn't really matter, because there are a very large number of hands (I would say the majority), where most people would play it a similar way (in that they would still get to the flop etc), so if you did deliberately select certain combinations of hands it would virtually guarantee action - certainly over a decent size sample.

I don't believe for a second that poker sites are fixed btw, just saying that it could be done if a company wanted to do it.

...and the motive would be what, exactly?!

What many fail to realise, is that poker is NOT a house game. Roulette & Blackjack are House Games - the players play the House.

Poker is not a House game. The House takes a flat fee come what may, & the players play each other. As such, the House does not care a jot or tickle who wins or loses, as they have gotten their fee already.

Anyone who cannot grasp that should not really be playing poker, to be honest.

I know, which is one of the reasons why I am 100% confident that poker sites are random.

All I was saying was that it was technically possible :)

I'm not sure I buy that.

I played in a £20 Tourney tonight. Most of the players in it were "handy", & "The Villain" is a very good player indeed - in fact, good enough to win a VLV Package on Sky, & play superbly in the WSOP, such that he cashed in the WSOP Main Event.

Blinds are (approx) 100-200, & he makes it 700 UTG. Both of us are playing the same - about 6,000. Neither of us had got out of line.

I shove all-in with A-K. He snap called. With A-J.

You telling me a computer could predict a play as bad as that?

His A-J won, of course, by 4-flushing it. I typed "?". He said "sorry tikay, I am in another Final Table, & misclicked".

    Computers can predict that?

And in that spot, imagine what some people - the Area 51 Gang - might think & say. Shudder!

One way or another all hands are predetermined.
Ultimately TH'E poker is i have 2 cards i wonder what the next 5 are because it's random Cool :/
I read a good article in PP this month that said a professional ( which i am not but doesn't matter anyway ) can expect 50k's hands worth of running bad. Then i was cheered up because i realised i can play that in 3 days. I guess that's why brm is so important.
The longer i play this game the more i realise that it's just a SMALL edge that counts. Rake aside, almost all people lose.
Nowt against you but sometimes i realised i was tilting when i was playing in an incredulous way i.e i got a set and you just happened to flop a flush yeah right what's the odds ?  etc or yeah right like you got that hand who tf would call off that pf raise with that ? etc.... they bet it,  they got it , lot of the time , esp. at smaller stakes or buy-ins ( higher too ).
Trick is to keep pots small until you KNOW that the odds favour you considerably.
Pretty hard at 6 max i know. I gave it up in favour of full ring even tho i dealt with the 'people'  i played with well. Didn't like it too much tho.  Head message. Hassle factor. Wanted more tables..
I read a few of your old posts when researching the site ( amongst others , don't worry not stalking ) and it struck me that you have gone 180 south.
Confidence low ? The only thing that genuinely separates sites ( profitwise ) is the volume of competition.
You seem a nice person and only trying to help. No patronization. Been in that space and only got out of it by believing  in SMALL edges and NOT giving up. Played MORE.
The real question is does the time involved equal the reward ?
It is just a game. The fun seems to disappear when we are losing. But poker is a grind. Super discipline. Then when you win the fun goes as well . Just machine behaviour. Not too many places in life to get adrenaline without taking stupid risks.
    Happy Christmas to ye X
The more i read here i have to concede TK knows the score. Sick gambler :)
P.S- Tried hard here to share my stuff honestly. Hope it's not a waste of time.

I don't think the point of Forums is to suggest the people who run this site are corrupt, which was what you implied, just because you lost a few hands of poker.

You really should not say such things.

If I were to suggest you were dishonest, all hell would be let loose, & rightly so. But every day, someone comes on here & suggests this site is run by dishonest people. That is a slur on our, & my, good character, I I don't see why you should be able to say such things without expecting some resistance.

    LMAO.

Bolly. how do you pick them?

I'm staying away from the argument this thread has taken but you are bad beat city Sporn! If this was a newbie I'd hardly believe it but, despite your somewhat dyslexic postings, almost every one you've posted says you're a fairly intelligent poker player who just gets suck out upon suck out against you. I've had my share but you can't half get them mate. I was even at a table with you once and you got one of the most ridiculous suck outs I've ever seen against you. I even had to laugh in the chat box.

Mere Novice could probably argue, very intelligently, that there's no such thing as luck. Mathematically I'd agree. But life tells me different.

If variance exists your hair will grow back and Sunday's Primo's yours. lol.
