In Response to Buying a new desktop for poker - advice plz? : That PC is pretty bad, don't buy it.  Basic dual core processor, 3Gb of Memory, 500GB hard drive and a shocking monitor... it doesn't have much going for it. Taking a quick look if you don't mind waiting for delivery them THIS is a pretty nice machine for £499.  If you end up buying a PC that comes without monitor then THIS is a nice monitor for £168.  With a 1920 x 1080 monitor you can arrange windows like I posted HERE. If you just want to walk into PC World then I'd say look for this: Triple or Quad Core 4Gb of memory 1TB hard drive although 500GB is fine. Monitor should be 22" or bigger and MUST be 1920 x 1080

N1 DOHHHHHHH, the problem with PC buying is there are so many options, you could look for weeks and weeks to find the right one only for a new option to be offered!  I don't think you'll be disappointed with your choice.

It's a perfectly decent machine but you're just getting a dual core when you could get a quad core for slightly cheaper as I posted above HERE.

EDIT: I would also suggest you pay the extra £20 to get a basic 512MB NVIDIA graphics card and don't forget to add mouse and keyboard as I don't think they are included as standard!

    Thanks,

ie of course.....but i dont want to be waitin a year for my desktop lol slight exaggeration but MESH are poor with their deliveries but it is a good desktop tho......

a quad core is only compatible with AMD based systems but i think intel is better quite debatable..
  • edited January 2011

They told me 10-14 working days - said theres a post christmas rush on, and that's their most popular model at the moment?

They probably say that to everyone about every computer, but yeh....

    Not too bad? 2-3 weeks.

Well there are always the intel core 2 quad processors but you seem to know your stuff when it comes to PCs.

I know MESH haven't got the best track record for customer services but I've had a few ordered over the past couple of years and they've always delivered on time.

None of the PC's mentioned in this whole thread came with speakers or wireless adaptors.  I hadn't really considered those since they weren't in your original PC you linked to.

An easy option to solve both of these is a quick trip to Argos.

Nice Speakers or Nice Speakers with Subwoofer

    Wireless USB Adaptor

  • edited February 2011

    It's here!!!!!!!!!!

    FINALLY :)

An hour and half to get it all connected (lol)......30 minutes to find the windows product key (lol)....

    But..............

I can't get on the internet!!!!! It's not identifying any wireless networks, even tho my floppin laptop is half a yard away from it and connected fine !!!!

    Any advice?

Trying pressing the 'on' button.....a long shot I know, but it might just work. Or you could just wait for Aaron to turn up!

No I can't see one nutter.

Tiscali is appearing on the list of available networks, it only has 2/5 signal bars, but it's there now at least, but it wont flippin connect.

    So tilting.

Ive been onto them, and look......I like asian people, they're lovely people, cook amazing food, and even deliver it to my door. I'm sure they're excellent with technology, well trained, intelligent, and good at cricket....

But I just canny understand what they're trying to tell me!!

Factor in, that even if they spoke better english than Geoffery Boycott, I still wouldn't have a clue what they meant.....

And the result is I don't stand a chance.

If you've got any security setup on your wireless router (which you should have) then you will need the WAP or WEP security password to connect to the router.
