It's a Super (Bowl) Primo Party! ***OFFICIAL LIVE SHOW THREAD***

edited February 2011 in Poker Chat
One of the biggest sporting events on the planet takes place tonight...

But enough about Primo, it's Super Bowl Sunday!  Fancy a flutter on the game?  Check THIS out.

And, to mark the occasion, tonight's show will have a distinctly American theme - with Ed Giddins promising to speak in a Texan accent for the entire four hours. *

So, slice yourself a salt beef sandwich, pop open a Bud (other bottled beers are available) and get yourself registered in the main event: the £15k GTD Primo.  The tournament costs £55 to enter and kicks off at 8pm.  The live TV show begins at 9pm.

Ed and I will be following the action from the Primo (don't forget to e-mail those Hand IDs to skyopen@bskyb.com or post them in this forum thread), before we stop by the cash tables and bring you another enthralling and educational instalment of The Poker Clinic.  We'd also like you to answer the following question:

Which American poker player would you most like to have as a house guest - and why?

Plus, as we all know, Ed's cinematic knowledge is sadly lacking, so can you please nominate the best American film of the last 20 years?  Assuming the G-Man hasn't seen it (it's a fair assumption), we can hopefully persuade him to watch the DVD in the next seven days and give us his own review next Sunday :)

* This is blatantly not true

James, can you offer some advice, a statement, a rule, a tip, anything at all, to a willing, but un-educated American rugby viewer, to aid his enjoyment of the game tonight.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dunno if they were made in the last 20 years, but home alone 1 and 2 are the best American films ever.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the American poker player, I would say Matusow, as he would be really fun to get drunk with. However, he seems the kind of guy who would be an annoying drunk, who would be great company for a couple of hours, before getting angry and very aggressive, and probably start fighting and trashing the place by 11-30 when he starts getting angrily depressed before crying and wallowing in self pitty.

I would probably have to go for Antonio the magician, he's quite an entertaining guy, and wud be up for some weird prop bets Involving drink I reckon, so could make a few bob.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A question for you both in the studio regarding a famous poker player..........

    ANNIE DUKE.....

Why do people not like her??????????????? Is there something I'm missing?????

Film : Casino. Violence, gambling and Sharon Stone. Surely enough there to interest the Gidd. Excellent film too.
Poker Player : Hellmuth. Hours of fun winding him up.

Excuse the brevity, off out to a live game.

poker player as a house guest would have to Doyle, just imagine his stories he would tell that he couldnt tell on tv, be the best night of stories you'd ever had

Mr Hartigan. How did you manage to end up working on THE biggest Sunday of the year?

Surely you should've reserved this night off ages ago! And I thought you were a fan! pffft

    Disappointed......very disappointed!

Anyway, who's gonna win? I'm just favouring the cheeseheads but it's gonna be a close run thing I reckon!

Have a good show, no doubt I'll catch up with the second two hours of it later! ;)

My NFL predictions are notoriously poor, but...

I think the Packers have a slight edge and will probably win by 3 points.

    It'll probably be a low-scoring game (i.e. fewer than 45 points).

    Hi James and Ed

US player I'd love to have as a house guest is Tom Dwan, a genius that I can hopefully gain advice from, would love to have a Bud (other beers are available of course) with Phil Laak as well

Best US film is The Hangover, a Vegas classic!

I trust your judgement so Sky Bet gonna hate you!!

Good luck with the show guys im sure it will b awesome as always!

Ill b watching all night tonight for a change as ive managed to get rid of the wife..... definatly a Brucie bonus as she always destracts me while playing.... so i might actually have a chance of cashing in the Primo tonight as long as she dosnt stumble through the front door half cut to early.... But this will eventually happen!

Being a member of the armed forces my self my favourite american film has to be Full Metal Jacket without a shadow of a doubt!

American poker player as a house geust has to be Shannon Elizabeth.... Need i say more :)

Look forward to the show as always!

    Same - Jennifer Tilley

Superbowl - Yawn  - play for 2 minutes - stop for 5 -play for 2 stop again. And just throw in some timeouts in case the game actually starts flowing

American film -(one thing they are good at) - so many - All the good mobster films and spaghetti westerns but one which sticks out was "Sea of Love" with Al Pacino - Not normally my sort of thing, but gr8 film -

    Have a good show guys

    Hi guys,

Can you show this hand, it was my exit hand however with history.

The guy raised every hand pre flop, so i said ill 3-bet my next button and see what happens. I get the KT and flop broadway. Can i get away on the turn? Obviously my re-raise pre was maybe a bit small however i didnt want to get over commited as this was just a tester to see what my opponent would do while blinds where small.

Greatest American film of the last 20 years: The Big Lebowski

Rich Orford and Tikay reminds me of Donny and Walter.

Poker player would have to be Phil Laak. I'm curious to find out if he is the reverse of how most people behave when drunk and actually starts making sense.......Oh and he might bring Jennifer with him :)

There have been alot of great films from america over the last 20 years.
