WHY ARE BOUNTY HUNTERS SO POPULAR ON SKY?

edited March 2011 in Poker Chat
Apparently, bounty hunter tournaments are very popular here, why do you think this is?

    they are great.

They are good fun and I play them sometimes to release the inner donk!

I once was rather angry so i played a 1.5K bounty hunter and took it down for about 400 quid! Just by playing really loose and by sucking out on everyone!

Oynutter, there is a much better choice of tournaments on here than there used to be and better structures. I think its unfair to say there are just BH and nothing else, in fact that is utter nonsense imo!

Yeah I quite enjoy playing the odd on here and there.

I think most people play them as they see it as an easier way to try and win a bit more cash.

They're a fun format, the bounty element makes for some interesting play, they attract quite a lot of players with 'questionable' poker skills who make very loose calls chasing bountys. Once you've worked out a good strategy they're easy to beat despite the 15% rake on the lower buy-ins.

    This is the main reason why I like them;

I never said that that Greg, I suggested that one reason people play them is because they are often the only tournie availiable for them to play-- this is true, as the poll results currently appear to indicate, they are in fact the only tournies running all night.

You defo have a point about the nightowl schedule! But im not sure if many people want to play mtts at those times anyway?? As the site grows more and more they might obv.

With regard to other peak times. there are loads of non bounty hunter tourneys, ok maybe there could be a couple more standard nlhe, but the BH's wont be removed/reduced as they are far too popular!!!
  • edited March 2011
Because most of the players who play these tourneys are chancers and fish, of course these are just my thoughts on the matter .

must admit i play most bounty hunters

there good as you can win without winning

i dont play the low buy in ones

i play the larger buy ins and there good tournys with good players in them

i agree bounty hunters should not dominate any site

nor should deepstacks rebuys our speed

an equal spread of buyins and differant tournys makes a great site to play on

    just my opion

    I agree.

I learnt how to play live in fast freezeout structures so when comming to sky bounty hunters meant very similar structure and pretty similar standard of play.

I partly blame them for me being as loose now, but thats for me too look at myself. People obviously chase heads and i was learning still so i done the same. Id say i made money but in honesty i think i broke about even.

Back then it was bounty hunters or well bounty hunters. As i often prefer to play at night if i want a diff kinda game i have to play on stars, although infairness i think ive only ever got one of these bounty hunters to run at night.

    I wounder why?

Sky i dont mean to sound harsh ive came up with ideas in the past that seemed 50/50 for wanting and not. But we need something between 00.15 and 2.20 for non-bounty hunter players.

Having said that i do love a good bounty hunter if its 5.50 or above.

Be nice to have a choice tho Don, eh?--- 12 hours in the morning with only one freezeout?
  • edited March 2011

I see what you mean now about the off peak times oynutter. Im sure sky will have a look at the schedule and hopefully add a few more freezeouts/deepstacks....

When i was making my comments, i was concentrating on the times i play (5pm-1am) and there is plenty of choice at those times.

    Good luck

    Oy nutter.

Was it u who used to ask for your total balance to be shown in "my account" after every individual transaction????

If so how far did you get with this? Did u get an answer as to if it was gonna happen, and when.... ??
  • edited March 2011
Rik I agree with you 100% but it seems many do enjoy the BH concept. IMO the rake is not right on them why can you have 2 tours at £3. + 30p rake =10% in the afternoon then all others at £5 and below 15% rake makes no sense to me totally inconsistent they should all be 10% IMO. But I suppose if folks keep playin them nothing will change.

    Just my thoughts mate Ray

Hi Dohhhhhh, aye, twas I, Sky Rich acknowledged that it was wrong not to show the balance before and after each transaction, and said that it would be rectified soon---- well over six months ago?

Hi Ray, we have been pestering Sky Bernie about the 15% rake issue for over a year, people have even been threatened with a forum ban because of it, all we get is "this rake fits in with the current business model"

I realise a lot of people seem to like bounty hunters ( there's some funny people about ), but the point I am making is that a lot of people only play them because they are the only choice at the time they want to play, the poll shows this is the case, sky seem to think that player stats prove conclusively that they are 'incredibly popular", but I am saying that the lobby is swamped with this kind of game, and this is the reason they appear "incredibly popular"

Thanks Greggers, I just think they are going a bit ott with these, I can see why sky like them. they are fast and very profitable with the extra rake, and with rebuys, this rake will make it a great game from the business models point of view. All I am saying is that swamping the lobby with bounty hunters and then saying that it has been proved conclusively that they are incredibly popular is misleading, and that a lot of people only play them because of the lack of choice, the poll results indicate this to be the case.
  • edited March 2011
They're popular because the prize money is distributed across more players.

    Nutter,

Just to set the record straight the tourneys between 00.00 until 2.20pm are below. At the end of the day a lot of our customers like Bounty Hunters, as proved by the number of people who regularly play them, with all other types of games being catered for as well. We have regularly tried different variations to the schedule,  some which work and some that do not, as you will be aware, and if you do have any constructive suggestions please post them under community suggestions where they will be reviewed.

    Regards,
    Bernie

    Hi Bernie,

So that people have the choice, why not put a standard NLH Classic tournie in there on the hour every hour.  Like a 2.20/3.30.  I won't play them, but there are people that might and surely it doesn't cost anything to have a tournie sat there in the lobby????
