Basically, they have sailed in a 'Brigantine', The SV IRENE, from the Gironde Estuary, a shed-load of 2009 Bordeaux, which will land on the Thames on 19th May, where at Vinopolis they are havin a Party for 'press & Guests' & Charity Auction, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, so i will buy a bottle or Two !!
Prob shold have put this in tha 'Blatant Brag' section, but FFS they would not understand!! LOL

While i was in ma garage loft lookin for paint, I found some old bottles i'd forgot about, mostly old port, but one interesting one maybe....A very old & dusty bottle, paint steciled on, and nearley comin off, a....
............Hucheson Vintage Port 1964....Remember somone bought it,[bruv, think] for mi 30th along time ago, [born '64], when i used to drink Port!!
Cork bit rotted, but have got it standing upright for de-canting later, will let you know if its rabbish or not !!

Today was mi parents turn, Me & Hitwife drove down to Birchington Kent, & took them to 'The Minus' restaurant in Minus Bay, Worth a look if you are down that way, good value, nice food & staff!! The £20 bowl of mixed seafood chowder was Ledge!!
Not far from Margate, where I heard there is a good casino/poker room, so might try it next time if i stay over !!

Been watching on Skypoker TV the series of great interviews, Ian Frazer etc, by James Hartigan titled 'Poker Legends' or the like.
They were filmed in a spectacular candlelit wine cellar, maybe in a restaurant, club or casino!! If its someones Home I am very jealous!!
Simple question, Where is it? Would love to see it !! As it is obviously laid out by a Big Wine Buff

Such a good day, worthwhile me telling, and a visit by you defo!!
It Was a beautiful day, so I decided to take afternoon off, [rare for me], and take the HitWife up town, [London bridge stn] early, so as not to be rushed & enjoy some sights!!
2 pm We left from West Ruislp, Central line straight to St Paul.s, where we had decided to walk down to the River from.
3pm It was a lovely City walk around the side of the Cathedral, which we went into, to watch part of a service. It is spectacular in there, and very moving, after about 30 mins. We moved on, after lighting a Candle for Her Mum, & Rudi & Heidi, who we miss lots
4pm South side of St. Pauls, is a wonderful walk down to The Millenium Bridge, with tremendous city views, Then Bridge itself landing south side of river, rite in front of The new Tate or Bankside gallery I beleive, Had never done this walk before, but a defo unknown must do if in London!!
Quick Drink in a nice Riverside Pub, then cobbled walk to Vinopolis under the Canon Steet stn Rail Bridge, which when goin underneath we found 'The Clink Museum', which looked fun, like a smaller version of London Dungeons, anyway it was just closin, girl on desk said we could have a quick look for free LOLOL, but we will defo go back for an hour sometime!!
Now!! Vinopolis !! Looks a Drinkers Dream, Wine Museum, Speciality Rum & Scotch sections, and a varity of tours available, another time maybe, because we had invite to the Laithwaites shop where we were immeidiately smothered in copius amounts of free Champagne and Wonderful Canapes!!
6pm, We were early bit, but the hospitality was excellent!! We got introduced straight away to Tony Laithwaite, then to an eccentric but wonderful older couple, who was one of his first partners in Bordeaux Direct i believe!! A gentleman joined us, well, pulled himself up a chair, [I am such a Nutter magnet], turns out he was Hugh Johnson !!! FFS !!! Had a great chat with him too, He later bought loads of lots at the Charity Auction!
Anyway More Canapes, More Champagne, ....... Film & Tony speech about the SV Irene sailin from the Gironde Estuary to London, [landed day before], with this seasons Laithwaites Bordeaux on board, [20,000 bottles, gave me & HitWife one each for home]!! THEY HAD A MUTINY ON BOARD LOLOL, just by the Isle of wight, had to land a new captain by helicopter LOL, See, These Wine People, like Poker players, ALL DRAMA QUEENS !!
Anyway More Canapes, More Champagne, .......we were now joine by the beautiful and fragrant Nicola Greening and another lady friend, Kate, who recognised us from the 'Benares Wine Dinner' a few weeks before. Nicola's father owns the Famous Felton Road Wine Company, of Central Otago NZ, who then spent the rest of nite gossiping with The Hitwife, & moanin a bit bout Poker Too, as her husband has a few homegames LOL !
Anyway More Canapes, More Champagne, ........Auction, came & went, all lots out of my league!! Was hoping to pick up summat for say £200, as sovenoir, but all went well over reserve, minimum of a Monkey, with a 1928 Bordeaux goin for 2k!! ONE BOTTLE !! LOL!!
Nicola had a lot i was hoping to bid for, but went for 4xtimes reserve, but she said if i donate £200 to the MacMillan Charity online, she would send me summat similar, so have just done that!!
Anyway More Canapes, More Champagne, .......now towards 10pm, people leaving generally, Nicola & friend did invite Me & Mrs to a restaurant in soho they had booked for 11pm !! [WHAT, love not to have to work 4 livin!!], But I up for work at 6am so gutted had to say no!!

It is a chain of restaurants, Only One in UK at Westfields, Sheperds Bush!! The best steak I have ever had, in fact whole meal experiance was very impressive!!

yesterday sat 10th 11 11, Me Hitwife, her Son Craig, & his Wife Emma, went to Olympia for the Masterchef live & live show.....IT WAS GREAT!!
Think tickets where bout £26, but we were there from 12 midday to bout 5/6pm, had sooo much food mostly samples and loads wine!!
highlites being..
A Truffle Rissotto from Restaurant Gauthier stand, this did cost a fiver but was worth it for bout a half portion i guess!!
A Lancashire Black Bomb Cheese, half gone already when we got home with some more wine[5 bottles!! that Emma can drink!!] LOL!!
Took a wine Quiz with Emma on The Wine Comp stand was grear fun, again for a fiver get nice compli glass, & six half glasses of wine to guess grape, country, origin, strength & medall?? we were beside two real experts, we are NOT, but had great laff with them!!! WE DID THIS EARLY SO THIS SET DAY UP NICLEY, must have had a least 6/7 glasses here & some beer samples LOL!!
Got a crate of something new landing for us to share, reasonable price, £7/bottle Argentinian, mendoza cab sav, called "Latitud 34' ", not seen before but samples very nice, they had a white too, nice cant remember grape!
Then to Top off before we got train home had a Hogg roast burger with apple & cracklin, ledge!!! and I only dropped a little bit, so well happy!!
CONCLUSION....Death to Diets FTW!!!!!!!!

........Auction, came & went, all lots out of my league!! Was hoping to pick up summat for say £200, as sovenoir, but all went well over reserve, minimum of a Monkey, with a 1928 Bordeaux goin for 2k!! ONE BOTTLE !! LOL!!
Nicola had a lot i was hoping to bid for, but went for 4xtimes reserve, but she said if i donate £200 to the MacMillan Charity online, she would send me summat similar, so have just done that!!

.......now towards 10pm, people leaving generally, Nicola & friend did invite Me & Mrs to a restaurant in soho they had booked for 11pm !! [WHAT, love not to have to work 4 livin!!], But I up for work at 6am so gutted had to say no!!

A bottle of Yalumba Bush Vine Grenache 2008 from Majestic. It's a really nice wine for the price.

It is a chain of restaurants, Only One in UK at Westfields, Sheperds Bush!! The best steak I have ever had, in fact whole meal experiance was very impressive!!
Started by Two South Africans, in fact our waitress was a bubbly South African, I nearley pi55ed myself when aksed about the chain she reeled off...
..........." and we have prestige Restaurants in Dubai, Kuwait, Cape Town, Israel, Honk Kong....."
This was where I interrupted her with.......

I bought my Valdivieso Caballo Loco from the Tesco wine club but just had a look around and nobody is selling it now.
Maybe they're waiting for the new batch (i'm sure there's a technical term for this in wine).

yesterday sat 10th 11 11, Me Hitwife, her Son Craig, & his Wife Emma, went to Olympia for the Masterchef live & live show.....IT WAS GREAT!!
Think tickets where bout £26, but we were there from 12 midday to bout 5/6pm, had sooo much food mostly samples and loads wine!!
highlites being..
A Truffle Rissotto from Restaurant Gauthier stand, this did cost a fiver but was worth it for bout a half portion i guess!!
A Lancashire Black Bomb Cheese, half gone already when we got home with some more wine[5 bottles!! that Emma can drink!!] LOL!!
Took a wine Quiz with Emma on The Wine Comp stand was grear fun, again for a fiver get nice compli glass, & six half glasses of wine to guess grape, country, origin, strength & medall?? we were beside two real experts, we are NOT, but had great laff with them!!! WE DID THIS EARLY SO THIS SET DAY UP NICLEY, must have had a least 6/7 glasses here & some beer samples LOL!!
Got a crate of something new landing for us to share, reasonable price, £7/bottle Argentinian, mendoza cab sav, called "Latitud 34' ", not seen before but samples very nice, they had a white too, nice cant remember grape!
Then to Top off before we got train home had a Hogg roast burger with apple & cracklin, ledge!!! and I only dropped a little bit, so well happy!!
CONCLUSION....Death to Diets FTW!!!!!!!!

ps. One more thing, how good is that New London Overground thingy, links brill with tube, Willesden Junction to Shep. Bush in 6 minutes !! FFS!! That walk used to take me 50/60mins, At best 15/20mins on 220 bus, done it hundreds & hundreds of times, as a youngster!!
Please do bring you're own favourites tol so i can try....might be difficult having a cyber wine tasting but am sure we shall get by....
