Abuse at the poker tables

edited July 2011 in Poker Chat
Last night i was playing on a 200nl table, and from the moment i sat down i was having abuse shouted at me by players not even sat at the table who i have never seen or played against before, i thought this was disgraceful, but i carried on playing, when i lost with QQ vs AA after being 3bet on the button by the player repeatadly, two players who werent even sat down starting saying "Go die" , "Go to hell" at me and other foul language to bypass the filters from a player. I found this particually so low as i have had a couple of family members die recently and it really hit a nerve with me as someone can say that who is just watching the game to have so much hate for me when i have never played him before.

Every pot i lost, he said "scumbag is losing" or "im watching you get pwned hahaha" and every pot i won he would say "fish got lucky" . Yes i can take a bit of banter on the tables, but this was not banter in any kind of way.

I really dont know whether i want to continue playing on this site after this, i feel there needs to be some sort of report feature or only allowed to talk if playing at the table etc. I only came back to this site 3days ago after a year away, i thought skypoker was more of a community feel to it, but obviously not..

You should report the abuse, and get this sorted out.  I have seen the same sort of things typed into the chatbox, and it is not nice.  I tend to ignore it myself, or turn the chatbox off altogether.  There is a report abuse tab at the bottom of your post.  I can only say that this is not typical behaviour from the majority of players on Sky.  There is friendly banter on the forum and in the chatbox which makes the site more sociable than some i have been on.

that player is one that playss high high stakes, and whenever i talk to them they seem ok, im guessing he had too many to drink but its still discrasefull.  it needs to be reported.

  • edited July 2011
Yea why the fccuk is the highest stakes player on sky giving out abuse to some random 200nl player, you guys must have history from another site lol.. what a clown, would never expect it from someone who plays so high

i am unsure whether you are referring to tv? OP not very clear but regardless it is not what you would usually expect especially at the higher stake tables. there are a select few who go of in one after 1 bad beat or losing hand but generally thats at the micros.

Please continue to play and if you still have chat log? or time you was playing and who the offender was do report to customer care.

Good luck at the tables and hope you stay for a bit

Ye he is on about TV, im with crazyben on this one, i dont know why he would come down to 200nl to attack a player

yeah ive sent details off to customer care who are now looking into it, i dont know if he was playing before i sat down and was tilted from that but i just think its disgusting to talk to anyone like that.

Surely if you think someone is bad you will sit down be nice to them and keep them there as long as possible for the best chance to win their money, but he sat down about 20mins after i sat down in which he shoved the first hand and lost then sat out and continued to lay into me

    thanks for the advice

Just for your info.. the Report Abuse (on each post) button is for reporting a particular post as abusive. It informs the site admins (Sky employees who look after this site) to look at the post and take action if needed.

Don't let one or two bad eggs drive you away. Just hope they deal with it after it's been reported.
I've only been abused in the chat box once, in my very early days playing here. My 'crime' was I had the nerve to call a PF reraise with a suited-connector and then flop the nut straight-flush.. versus his precious QQ. That was a couple of years ago now.

Hi IBluff,  Sorry to hear that you suffered abuse at the tables last night, as others have said any abuse like this should be reported to customer care.

FYI I have deleted the offending players name from your opening post and also deleted a couple of other posts in this thread which also mentioned their name, as naming and shaming is not allowed under the forum rules.

    Thank you for your understanding.

Hope they got banned from SkyPoker for good as that is completely unacceptable behaviour anywhere and especially when your playing a lot of money, you don't need that hassle.

opps wrong bluff, you on the sauce again

we all know ibluff loves loves abuse, that why he switched teams lol

on a serious note all abuse should be reported, not only by player themself but anyone else that witness it, this is a community and 99% are friendly, some almost funny bunch, why should we let the 1% ruin it for the rest off us.

I tell him what a plonker his is (harsher word wont get through) then mute it.

This kind of abuse will affect your play.

Its worth reporting though, just no need whatsoever.

Bluff1991 - Can you confirm on this thread that you have made a complaint to customer care about this player please?

Mod_Kiwini - If Bluff1991 confirms the above please could you post on this thread what action was taken against the player.  Obviously he/she will not be named but we would like to see a result for Bluff1991 if his allegations are shown to be true through customer services.

I have posted on this subject so many times before and i normally just get the usual answers from certain people on the forum " man up " ............ " turn chat box off"......... " get a life ".
From Sky Pokers point of view they make all the right noises and say you must report it to C.C. even the Mods say the same thing, but Sky then run and hide behind the Data Protection Act when it comes to saying what if anything is done about these so called players.
If the forum rules state that players cant be named and shamed then the rule should be changed, unless this is done  how do Sky expect members of this forum to have any faith in C.C. What is the point of making a complaint when you are never told the outcome of it, ok Sky any new answers or am i going to get the same old answers again ????
I know what my money is on .......................Regards Mick.

    +1 well said mate xxx

Fwiw as many of us are now fully aware who the culprit was then we should check out their tables in future to see for ourselves if they have had their chat removed xxx

    Chew

This is the reason for the second part of my post on this subject.  I agree totally no names should be used.  However much like the police make a statement 'A 47 year old man was charged with XYZ' if we just get a post saying the player involved in the complaint made by Bluff was given XYZ' that is enough for our confidence in the system.  However I cannot stress enough that we should play ball our end, no naming and shaming.

    Hi Tommy

Even under my Mod name I won't know what action has been taken regarding bans, but I have forwarded a copy of your other post onto Sky Towers for their consideration.

       Tommy,
Unless Sky Poker change there rules on this matter you will not find out what has happened, i have tried before with no luck.
I would like to think that my first post would get a reply but going on my previous dealings with Sky about matters like this i will not be holding my breath.
Please dont get me wrong i am not one of these people who just come on the forum to knock Sky but they have a terrible habit of  saying nothing and hope that the problem goes away or the people writing these posts get bored waiting for answers.

And by the way i would love to be proved wrong so over to you Sky  now is your chance.
                                                         Regards   Mick.

    Hey Kiwi

Thank you for forwarding that on for me.  Just so we're cool I only asked you directly as you were the Mod to post in the thread.  This is a question open to any and all Mods asked with resepect.

Am I to understand from Kiwini's last post in this thread that there is no 'banned list' which the Mods have access to with regards to write access to the forum and/or chat in the chat box?

    Thanks

TBF no corprate entity is in the habit of sharing diciplinary action with 2nd or 3rd party interests,

Whatever happens is quite righty handled privately, am sure there are consequences that we never hear of.

What puzzles me is why, once Sky have completed their enquiries and decided a chat ban should be imposed,

the guilty party cannot be named. Using Tommy's analogy, once the 47 yr old male has been found guilty his

name can then be published. How are Sky different?

Also there are a number of players who have received life time bans on here and we all know who they are

i.e. Mick Jenn, Emily Egg and most recently Neildown. These 3 players are regularly mentioned in Forum posts

and no Mods pull those threads so why the double standards?
