What puzzles me is why, once Sky have completed their enquiries and decided a chat ban should be imposed,   the guilty party cannot be named. Using Tommy's analogy, once the 47 yr old male has been found guilty his   name can then be published. How are Sky different?   Also there are a number of players who have received life time bans on here and we all know who they are    i.e. Mick Jenn, Emily Egg and most recently Neildown. These 3 players are regularly mentioned in Forum posts   and no Mods pull those threads so why the double standards?

You mean people who have been arrested by the police, processed through the court system and found guilty in a court of law?

I agree with this and its not only Sky that is frightened of the Data protection act . I don't see it as relevant as the incident was in a public place and all you see is the player name unless they have volunteered their real name. As long as personal details are not transmitted justice "needs to be done and seen to be done ". If the data protection act applied noone would be allowed to follow a criminal trial. Then what would the papers do ?

The " victim " - if he can be called that has the right to see how Sky deal with it  and be given the right to protest if not happy AND get a ( public ?) apology.

in Response to Re: Abuse at the poker tables:
I have posted on this subject so many times before and i normally just get the usual answers from certain people on the forum " man up " ............ " turn chat box off"......... " get a life ".  From Sky Pokers point of view they make all the right noises and say you must report it to C.C. even the Mods say the same thing, but Sky then run and hide behind the Data Protection Act when it comes to saying what if anything is done about these so called players.  If the forum rules state that players cant be named and shamed then the rule should be changed, unless this is done  how do Sky expect members of this forum to have any faith in C.C. What is the point of making a complaint when you are never told the outcome of it, ok Sky any new answers or am i going to get the same old answers again ????                I know what my money is on .......................Regards Mick.

In Response to Re: Abuse at the poker tables :    Tommy,         Unless Sky Poker change there rules on this matter you will not find out what has happened, i have tried before with no luck.    I would like to think that my first post would get a reply but going on my previous dealings with Sky about matters like this i will not be holding my breath.   Please dont get me wrong i am not one of these people who just come on the forum to knock Sky but they have a terrible habit of  saying nothing and hope that the problem goes away or the people writing these posts get bored waiting for answers.  And by the way i would love to be proved wrong so over to you Sky  now is your chance.                                                      Regards   Mick.

I have a funny feeling that i am being ignored, either that or Sky Poker / Mods  are thinking about a cunning plan of shutting down this thread because that way its easier than answering.
Still i live in hope :)))                  Regards  Mick.

Chew, it's a subject which has been covered many times on the forum and also in the Community Guidelines. If there's any abusive language at the tables the players need to inform Customer Care so they can do whatever necessary. Sky Poker takes all instances of abuse at the tables seriously and they'll take action according to what's discovered in their investigations.

As for naming and shaming on the forum, it won't be done as it's a private matter between the customer and Sky I'm afraid and that's not something Sky will move on as a policy.

Sorry dave BUT i fail to see how this is a 'PRIVATE MATTER' as the abused is obviously a third party to this ??
Also as has been mentioned it is only a poker 'ALIAS' that has been disclosed , hardly personal details are they now ?? xxx

Sky is not the only poker site that does not let you know the outcome of a possible ban. At least 2 other sites have the same policy. They don't even notify the complainant about the outcome which I feel is wrong. When I have complained about abuse in the chatbox at other sites I would have liked to know the outcome but no chance.

If the allegations made against the player are found to be true, then the player should be named and the punishment should be made known. After all, justice must be done and most importantly must be seen to be done. Come on sky dont try to hide behind this data protection act, Lets be honest and transparent about this.In Response to Re: Abuse at the poker tables:

Thats a very valid point debs,,,, as its only the alias being released then i find it unlikely that there is iANY data protection violation.....   PS im on my last warning so if this is my last post you know why    LMAo

Regardless of whether it's just an alias the data protection act states:

personal data” means data which relate to a living individual who can be identified—

    (a)  from those data, or
    (b)  from those data and other information which is in the possession of, or is likely to come into the possession of, the data controller

and since pretty much anyone can be identified from their alias therein lies the DPA issue.

I'd just like to point out that I'm just stating facts above, not that I agree with any of them.  Personally I think the DPA is a complete abomination and has grown outside of it's initial remit by a thousand fold.

    Ring, Ring,

    "Hello British Gas?"

    "Yes, how can I help?"

"I'd like to change my direct debit account please."

"OK, let me do some security checks, are you the account holder?"

"Well, my wife is, but I pay the bill from my account and have done for the last 14 years"

"Oh, sorry can't help you change YOUR direct debit from YOUR account to another account in YOUR name"

    "Huh? Why?"

    "It's not allowed"

    "Why?"

    "The Data Protection Act."
