that fish got me in a bit of tilt because i know i'm nothing like the person chris moorman himself was, it's when i'm seeing these fish limping in at a stage of an MTT where you should never be limping then clearly the are bigger recs and the thing that got me most saddened was he made it sound like roguecell was a pro Posted by craigcu12
don't be upset about the "rec" tag. compared to moorman we're all recs. and it's great marketing for sky that regular skypoker players can mix it with the poker elite, and after getting in very cheaply. and as for the comparison with roguecell, she has been on sky for years, and came 2nd in the SPT Birmingham event, so is well known in the community and by orford. meanwhile you're a relative newbie. their comments were not meant to imply anything about your actual poker standard.
as for the hands above - no calling someone a fish please. he may have had a valid plan. with you pokey & wacko on the table he may have been wanting/expecting a raise that never happened. or maybe he wanted to see a cheap flop with a low pp. who knows. the hand itself is a double paired board with an unopened pot. once wacko b/c the turn you know he is calling any river. on the turn it's an easy fold. but okay you put his bet to the test by raising it, but his call proved it was not a bluff. defo give up on the river, as you cannot even beat a bluff!

it's the way he described me in comparison to rogue cell that was really the disappointing thing.
a better term to use would have been beginner or just lower stakes reg.
one of the reasons i actually decided to play poker was to see if i could put my great maths skill to good use.
i think myelf their is 3 types of player their is the rec who plays for fun- if i was playing purely for fun i would go onto age of empires myself as that is a great game i like
their is a pro who has got all the skills-i'm certainly miles away from being one of these
the 3rd one i think could be described as a learner, someone who keeps wanting to improve his game and that's what i'm attempting to do.
Don't let it get to you Craig, you played fantastically well and had a great cash. Clare is a well known player around here and she does play a lot of live events aswell incl some ukipt/epts
We are for the most part on Sky, recreational players.
People think "recreational" player = losing player. This isn't true.
85-90% of players are recreational. 10/15% are "professional" out of these maybe only 2/3% make significant amounts of money.
Amongst the top 10/15% of recreational players they are winning players, whether that is £100 a month or £1000.
A "pro" imo would be someone who makes their living entirely from playing poker and from no other sources.
I never seen the Show, if they were saying a "rec" player won big £££ versus world no1 Morman, this wasn't to insult you - it was meant to be a positive.
Bear in mind that the TV show's main goal is to get new people to sign up to the site and spend money on the site to make more money for Sky.
What they would have been saying was to try and make it out like a fairy story, a normal player can take on the best in the world and do very well.
Both you and Clare (roguecell) did amazing in getting through such a tough field of opponents to finish 2nd and 3rd.

Cooler?......Cooler........?
On your merry way young man
Definition of a cooler..............
coolerA situation in which a player holds a second best hand so powerful considering the circumstances that they are destined to lose the maximum with it no matter how they play it. Examples of this would be K-K running into A-A pre-flop, a king-high flush losing to an ace-high flush on an unpaired board with only three of the suit present, or a nut full house losing to quads when both players have pocket pairs.
AA into A3.......not even even tepid, never mind cooler lol.
Nice cash on your first day back Monday btw - Keep it goin.
feel your pain trev. i have had the worst run of bad beats I can remember for a very long time, consequently my play has become timid, tilty and terrible.......awesome mix!
11bb and an Ace 5 handed is more than enough to go with in an unopened pot! Posted by Matt237
Correct - now we're talking
I would have made the same play myself with 11BB and the BB coming round, so i'm never complaing when the guy gets a bit lucky. it's poker and we just have to take it on the chin and move on. In fact I even remember saying "Nice hand" in the chat box, although my brain probably imploded at the same time
arrrrrrrggggghhhhhh Beem me up Scotty "I canny take it no more Jim"

NoNoNO!!!!!
That is just a "bad Beat" sir
If he shoves with KK there and your holding AA and you win, then that is a cooler, cause there's only one hand beating him and you have it. The fact that he only has a small PP here and shoves the lot over the line pre-flop and outdraws your AA makes it a bad beat.
There are 8 other PP's out there that could be beating him pre-flop....it's not even close.
any more of this behaviour out of you young man and i'm gonna tell me mum...she'll put you right

wp rose in the main - sorry about the bubble info but there is a problem with my lobby. it shows an extra 2 players with no chips (connman & lauluk) but with no position. normally that means they've just gone out, but no, each time someone else is out they go below them. at this rate those two will win with no chips!
