Sky Poker forums will be temporarily unavailable from 11pm Wednesday July 25th.
Sky Poker Forums is upgrading its look! Stay tuned for the big reveal!
How many times can the 2 outer hit
Once again tonight I'm blown out by the miracle 2 outer. On the river as usual. Enough is quite enough. I've enjoyed myself on here but the crazy calls and the ''oh look they hit the 2 outer again'' is just too much. So I'm bowing out and I'll call in from time to time but won't be playing here for at least...........ooohh let's see now...........a couple of years.
Take care everyone.

Take care benny see you around the forum but not on the tables m8.
very good, my bet is you wont be missed
You started your forum life on such a positive note, don't blow it now!
Elsa, you posted last week you were taking a break. Please take you time away and come back more positive. You definately have the ability to make this game work for you and you know how it hits us in the face sometimes.
I said last week, after a monsterously bad run, I too took time out. I came back refreshed and had put the beats behind me.
Enjoy your rest and look forward to keep seeing you on this forum and eventually when you are ready, hit em back where it hurt's.
Oh DON90 remind me cos I forgot, was it the open university you learned how to play this game ...?
Keep playing the freerolls !!! you 'll be alright ...!
That's nice .................. bye
that is a bet you will lose
it's called variance - you'll ride it out. The site isn't rigged and in the long run you'll win if your money is in ahead
I hope Elsadog reconsiders, but either way, I wish him well.
Nothing I can say will change his mind, he's a bright guy, & knows his own mind, so I'll just cross my fingers & hope he stays.
He's been playing Online for many, many, years - he was a long-term stalwart in the Tribeca days, & Tribeca has been dead 3 or 4 years now.
I won't try & persuade him to stay, but I hope he does.
He'll be much missed if he leaves, he really will. But life will go on.
sorry Elsa i hope you take time out and recover
That's why this Community is so good.
PS - I do understand why yo get frustrated by all the moany Threads - they serve no point, & everybody loathes them. But, as you now acknowledge, this was not a Bad-beat Thread, it was just a good guy who'd had a shocking run & been smacked in the gob by the wicked God of variance..
At the end of the day Don, I was quite upset at your original post at Elsa is a very respected member of the community.
Your community life so far has been very short and although you are quite new to the game, I feel you can bring much to our community, even though some of your strategies appear a little rough round the edges, but over time the forums will gain you advantages in your play and certain insights into this game we all love.
Without doubt, they certainly have improved my game.
I am glad that you have re posted here admitting your slight error of judgement and look forward to reading more of your posts.
(Deleted profile too!)
It's only a game..
PS - (Tikay) I thought Elsadog is female (?) (Assumed from "Elsa")
His name is Alan and he had strong views on the pedestrianisation of Norwich city centre, loved Toblerone and had great squirrel storys....will be sadly missed
Definite shame....respected member of Sky Poker community lost..although it seems every day a different person is leaving due to bad beats or perceived bad luck. I often encounter it in games, with comments like "typical sky poker" when they get rivered..what people dont understand is that bad beats can occur in any environment, from a home game with ur mates, to the world's best casinos.
A very insightful Post by Hale there.
A tip for Don, well-intended.
I've been involved in Poker Forum's for about 10 years now, in fact I help run one, & part own it, elsewhere.
I often get peeved, or tilted hard, by a Post, or Thread, & I used to reply quickly, & then regret it the next day. We don't articulate well when we are angry. So what I do now in those circumstances is to discipline myself not to reply until the next day - I've usually calmed down by then, & it gives me time to mentally compose a better reply.
You are a good guy, I know that, & you'll be just fine here, once you've got used to the weird & wonderful ways that Forums work. The written word is not the easiest way to communicate, which is why threads so often get uppity.
Have a good weekend bud.
Every site has the same problem, from folks who can't quite grasp how poker works. Evrn the mighty 'Stars are not immune - there is a thing called "The 'Stars River". And the Laddies River, the Party River, the Tilt River, the Ultimate River. Every Online Room get the same accusations.
It'd be a neat but wholly pointless bit of software, though, which favoured one random player over another random player, & risked the Room's reputation, while bestowing no benefit on the Site. That'd be about as stupid as it gets, & yet so many people can't see that!
There's none so blind......
Yeah, I was sure Elsa was female!
Certainly fooled me, I was sure he was?
Must have imagined it!
I have as you know never played live, but have heard enough stories to know that it occurs regularly live, so because of the number of hands played online getting outrivered imo will happen more, I have in the last 3 weeks have been rivered what seems a lot of times, I just sigh and leave the pc for a while, then go back, so every time I sigh, my other half has got to saying you have been rivered again (we never remember the times we do it though), its a fact of poker and it happens, its how you deel with it that matters.
Its a bit weird Barry, buy psychologically we seem to hate it when we get Rivered - but the River is 20% of the Board, & you are never safe until it's down.
If I take a flip, I prefer to get binked by the Door Card (first card on the Flop) - as it gives me a little hope, as I can still get out of it somehow. And with my luck, I usually do.
Don't forget, too, that every time WE get Rivered, the other Player is grateful for the River. And sometimes we ARE the other player.
