cracking thread...... with some great ideas as always, I personally would support any decision as to how to go about this Posted by scouse_red
Thanks Chris, I have stated before in this thread that I quite like JJ's idea, but it involved the DTD, which I hadn't contemplated. This would obviously have to be discussed with yourself and Michael.
I still don't know if this is going to feasible on Skys side of things, but I live in hope.

hi Craig
just a quick post to remind you what tikay told you in nottingham.
sky are legally bound to pay the entry money for a tourney out to the winner, so to get the money for the charity would be down to trust, i am sure that 99.99999999% of people there would be no problem with but it becomes a problem when someone says no because legally the money is there`s, so it may be an idea for a closed tourney or the donation route suggested by jj might just be the way.

Hi mate, it becomes more apparent that the suggestion JJ has come up with might be the only way round the legalities. If players want to contribute, they register through the charity medium, and if they don't, they enter through the normal poker lobby.
personally i think trying to combine a charity donation with the dtd would just complicate matters.
a seperate closed tourney on another night is surely the easiest and best route? like rab says though it would all be down to trust i can't see many, if any, people winning then refusing to donate it to charity but it only takes one person to win and then decide they are keeping the money for the whole thing to become a bit of a farce.....if this did happened then i would certainly not play again just so i can line somebody elses pocket (there are plenty of normal mtt's in which i already do that!! lol)

I think this is why it would be a seperate ammount. So say it's a £2.20 buyin, £1 of that goes to charity and the rest goes to the prize pool or something.
Why not donate to a different charity each month .Draw up a list detailing the charity for each month ie: Oct Children in Need , Nov Mcmillan Cancer and so on . That way everyone would know what the charity would be in advance . I like both Bhoys67 and Dohhs ideas but format would be better sorted out by SKY In Response to Re: Sky Community Charity Tournament:
Or even a survivor on the same principle . n Response to Re: Sky Community Charity Tournament : Posted by tiercel
Personally i have no probs playing for charity, but sky would have to take the monies out pre tourney, or in the winnings. It's not that i'm dishonest, but i have my account on here, and no other poker account on any other site, so sending the donation would be difficult, especially as i am not prepared to send my bank or credit card details etc to fellow players. If skypoker don't remove the monies for the charities, are there any other ways of sorting the payments out?

I think that this is the major stumbling block here. Originally I envisioned Sky collecting and distributing the funds. I think everyone would agree that this would be preferable. Wether it is feasible for them to do this I don't know.
I personally dont see the point in all this, from the companies point of view, seems like a lot of work for them to do which they get nothing out of.i would not think it would attract any new players to the site ( is paying an extra 50p to play the same tournaments really a selling point) , we all like sky poker thats why we are here but it is at the end of the day a business and businesses dont often put lots of effort into something that they get nothing out of.
IF the money went to one of their affiliated charities (jaguars) then they might do it..but still seems unlikely
also why would this be linked to the DTD ??? surely it should be something that the whole poker community could access, mainly for the charities sake. also the DTD is a low stakes set up,why except your 2.20 tourney people to put in nearly 25% of the tourney entry to charity while the 1/2 cash players give diddly sqaut??

Or if it's simply not possible to do via Sky we could setup a justgiving page each month for a different charity.
The winner of the monthly DTD league for the previous months gets to choose the charity.
