UKOPS - the Leaderboard.

Getting this right, &, most importantly, fair to ALL, is not easy.

Sky Poker have some views on how best to structure it, such that it is fair to all, but we are interested in your feedback.

A simple system will be best, too complex & it gets people cross-eyed.

Most money won? Well that sort of tilts it in favour of the High Roller or Main Event winner(s). Which may or may not be fair.....

Most cashes?

Graded points awarded for level of buy-in, or how many runners, or prize pool?

Double Points for the winner?

All these are possible, but it MUST be.....

1) Easy to understand

2) As fair to all as it is reasonably possible to be.

I should add that Chris (aka "Scouser") has volunteered to manage the Leaderboard Spreadsheet for us, & as everyone is so busy right now, it's likely we will accept his kind offer.

So, suggestions please. Speak now, or forever hold your.....

Go on the league points that Sky will award when you cash?  That way its simple, clear and is the same regardless of the buy in...

The best average scores in the events but you must play min of 3,Then top 50 have a freeroll to determine outright winner and blagger?

To keep it UBER simplez, just use the same points system as the poker league. Can't see how that doesn't work TBH...

EDIT: Not sure if the leaderboard prizes on offer are worth enough, I think the top 10 should all get the famouse light blue Skypoker hoody as well, that will make everyone grind the hell out of them!

I was thinking more along the lines of......

Leaderboard points = 10 * [sqrt(n)/sqrt(k] * [1+log(b+0.25)] Where…

n = number of entrants

k = place of finish

b - amount of buy-in

Then add salt as necessary.

At least my version credited the source ;-)

And, for the record, that formula creates a very good assessment of overall performance!

Ive spent ages in excel trying to come up with an equation, trying to find a fair balance between buyin size and winnings, and relative points payouts compared to mincashs in £100 vs winning the £500 and its insane! Not got anything even close to fair. I don't envy anyone doing this, but if anyone wants to plug around I suggest the following,

Calculate a fair score that eliminates the size of the buyin by unifying it across all the tournaments. Then use the field size to reflect 'skill' level by applying a mathematcal operator. Finally, add an arbitary number that is a function of the buyin in order to reflect the buyin size.

Then.... How many tournaments do you count? All that are played? 3 best scores? Must play 5?

It's a minefiled.

I'd go with combined totals of best 3 scores. Maybe half points for the Thursday and Final (to give those events double the weight).

I also think just counting UKOPS1 and UKOPS3 is fair, cos i am in them.

As some of you correctly suggest, it ain't quite as easy as it may look at first sight to make something which is essentially fair to as many players as possible.

"cash won" is simple, but it might mean that when it gets to the Main Event, the winner auto wins the Leaderboard, but it'd be nice to have a bit of a sweat, really.

We have our own views already, but are keen to take more feedback, to try & get good balance to the equation.

All players on the final table get points for each finishing place

Just an example, could not be any fairer!

max 100 pts... over 100 counts as non runner!

etc etc

lowest ave score wins.. maybe min 3 events to find average???

Where B Winnings, A Buyin and C players. Gives a good spread of values, and rewards ROI, while taking into account buyin size and player field as well as winnings.

I think it gives some pretty good results

I don't think it should be averaged out though personally it should be a total points over every event. This is how the big big leagues do it i think ? and also it encourages people to play more events thus increasing skys rake gain also + a few more players towards the prize fund !
