UKOPS Satellite question.....

edited October 2011 in Poker Chat

Has anyone qualified for the same one twice?

If so, what happens?

If I qualify for the Saturday £110 UKOPS twice, would I be able to switch 1 of them to the Monday UKOPS instead?

It's not "playing for the value of the seat in cash" or anything......

I'm sure most people only get to play poker on certain days, I'm the same. But I'd like to play the UKOPS 1, the BH.....

Won't be able to play this monday though.....

Hope someone can get back to me before the next juicy UKOPS sat starts today :)

Sigh too slow, I hope the answer would have been I could play, and transfer, so you missed out on my 12 quid!

Shudda been made 100% clear when sats were announced imo, too many probz already, and more to come.

    Hi JJ

I doubt you will get a reply that quickly as I don't think the Sky peeps monitor the forum that regularly.  Probably be best to give customer care a call and see what they say.

From a personal point of view I can't see a problem with the satellites. As with all the Sky satellites they are for a specific game, and if you can't play in the Main event then don't play in the satellite.

Having said that I do think it would be an idea to run a few satellites on different days for players like yourself who can't always play on one particular day.

They answered this question the other day.

I think it was something like..........if you are playing in two sats that could overlap and you qualify in both you would get your money back from the 2nd one.

I may have remembered that wrong though.

It will be in the sats thread somewhere.

Yeh they said if u play simultanious sats for the same event u will be awarded the value of the seat in cash if u qualify twice....

    But....

They never said/or commented on qualifying for the same tourny twice on purpose.....

They just ruled out the player getting a money equivalent, they said that WOULD NOT happen.....

But said measures are in place....

I wanna win 100 quid seat again, but basically use it on a Monday night, as I already have 1 for a Saturday night.

As we get closer to the UKOP kick off, this will become relevant to alot of players, I'm surprised they didn't address it str8 away.

This is slightly incorrect, the 9pm satellite gives 1st place entry to the £25000 high roller event, and 2nd - 5th a place in the £40000 main event, so it could be conceivable that a player wins the same prize twice!!
  • edited October 2011
Yeh loony I'm pretty sure it's alot different with the 9pm sat.

But if they wanna beat satty overlay, I think winning a £110 tourny ticket, rather than a ticket to a specific £110 tourny would be a great idea?????

    No money, just tickets.......

I believe that all the relevant sats are for events held on that specific day during the series, so if you wish to qualify for the monday event, you'll have to wait for the sats taking place this monday, for tuesdays event the sats are on a tues etc etc - i think!

Agree 100% for once lol with DOHHH cmon sky we need a definative answer on this if you win two seats to the same tourney what happens no one seems to have the answer will you get a credit to your account which you can use to buy into another UKOPS (mainly relevant to £110 buy in events)or will you get a cash credit or a future eg roller seat

JJ I've c&p a reply on another thread by Machka....

In Response to Re: UKOPS - Today we will mainly be having OMAHA Sats. & HighRoller-ME Suuuuupers : I'm pretty sure Sky_Poker answered this type of question on another thread. If you have already won entry and win another satellite into the same tournament the cash equivalent of the entry will be credited to you account. Posted by Machka

Don't know if this helps your situation tho?

This was posted on another thread by skypoker in response to sats, but im sure it only applies if you are playing the sats concurrently

Ok. But what happens if we qualify twice?  For example 1 has just started @ 2-30 and wont end or be close to ending before the next 1 starts @ 3.30.... Some people would like to play both......... (the first 1 is 1 in 50, 2nd 1 more realistic 1 in 10 shot) (Apologies if you've gone on to explain this in another post whilst I've been typing)

If this were to happen and you were playing two satellites at once (and qualified in both), the second one would trigger a cash credit for the value of the seat.
  • edited October 2011
Yeh thats my point loony, they covered that outcome.....

And they have also 100% ruled out a cash payment for qualifying for the same tourny twice...

What they haven't commented on (as far as I'm aware) is if you qualify for the same tournament twice, in sats that run at different times (for example 1 this afternoon, 1 tonight), is that just a waste of my time, or is there alternative prizes they can award me (non cash prizes)

@ Gixx - It's about time u started agreeing with me, u know it makes sense ;)

@ splashies - Ur missus wud break ur knees. Just ask Dels ex.

Don't think they will give you an answer on here, would think cc take each case as it comes.

I remember another tournamnet of the same value will be offered.
But I am sure I also heard you would get the cash in your account

Dependant on circunstance, if you play two sats at the same time and quilify thorough both then you get the money.

If you ring them up and say "I have pulled two birds so therefore ie I am diving tonight"
Then you get another MTT offered at the same value

See you could try telling them to keep the rake and you keep the balance ) Could work - that way they don't give the rake back - there up - your up - where's the harm

I agree it wud be better if they did tourny tickets...i only want to play ukops 1 as im a fan of bh..sky have missed out on all my money trying to sattelite for it during the week as i'll only be trying on a monday.
  • edited October 2011
I suppose to be able to use it for other tournaments without going through customer care it would require a big software update to enable tournament tokens.

So I can't see this changing anytime soon.

  • edited October 2011
There was a thread the other day ,where a person had qualified for 1 of the tourneys from a satelite for a £110 seat.He said due to sudden family issues(i think?) he couldn't now play the day he qualified for, and customer care were only willing to "HELP HIM OUT!" by entering him into a £10 tourney of his choice on another day!!As the sat he entered was the £12 super sat .

i know this issue is a definatey no.

From what i have gathered, and this may not be correct guys, if you qualify for a tourney by satellite and the next satellite for the same event has not started, de-register as you will not get entry and no cash alternative will be issued, though you may get your £12 buy in back. If the 2nd sat starts before the completion of the 1st sat and a player qualifies for both then you do get the full cash alternative. With the exception of the 9pm super satellite, all sats will be played on the same night as the main event, ie if you sat on monday, your qualifying main event will be on a monday and so on. Its not rocket science (i think lol) and why would anyone wish to qualify twice on each night for the same event?

fair play to sky for starting to attract the bigger tournies

in doing this a ticket system needs to be introduced

it isnt hard is customer friendly makes no difference to skys pockets and is employed on most major sites

I'm probably in a minority of one on this one, but I think all the pros/semipros/high rollers, who could easily buy in directly, playing the sats defeats the stated purpose of giving the 'everyone' a chance to play in the UKOPS events. If there is even the slightest incentive for those players to qualify more than once then that makes things even worse, as so many of the sats have overlay. If I was Sky I would exclude everyone who is already registered from the sats, and if that is not possible then just make it clear upfront that double-qualifiers will get nothing.

I sort of agree,Last night i was in qualifier to UKOPS main event and i did get in top 6 but there was a player in top 6 that got paid the 220.00 for finishing 2nd as he had already qualified,But there were only 99 runners out of 150 so he didnt stop anybody else from getting in the sat because there was still 51 places to be bought,Maybe if the sat is full sky need to de register players who have already got UKOPS tickets.

Of course he did! Those sats have a guaranteed number of qualifiers like 6 in the 9pm one, so if he got £220, the player in 7th place has dipped out!

Like i said i sort of agree and yes 7th gets zero but my point is if sky let already qualified players play they must  not let them if the sat is full,Tbh you have a valid point and yes sky need to address this imo.

Yeh i agree, but i think some players are just playing to get the £220 with the big overlays. Take the 15.30pm £24 five place guaranteed. There are only 26 runners so thats a big overlay, £1100 in prize money, in fact thats nearly double the return than if it was an stt or mtt. There are 2 players that i can see that are already in the main event, so they will get £220 cash if they get top 5.

If you search Scotty he's reg'd for all the main event sats today (loads), which start a couple of hours apart.

Unless he plans to unreg if he qualifies early, there MUST be an alternative prize for making it.

Hope sum1 from sky answers this b4 I play again tomorrow :)

I've been lucky enough to qualify for the UKOPS main event (+ one other) already and want to try and qualify for the £530 High roller event but I've not seen any specific Sats for that.

Will there be one or do I just keep giving the 9pm satellite a go? If I don't get 1st place (which isn't very likely) but manage to qualify for the main event do I get the cash instead?

I'm really looking forward to UKOPS week and it's a great new initiative for Skypoker but can't help noticing that most of the players in the Sats are the regulars (and unfortunately the better ones of those).
