I've been lucky enough to qualify for the UKOPS main event (+ one other) already and want to try and qualify for the £530 High roller event but I've not seen any specific Sats for that. Will there be one or do I just keep giving the 9pm satellite a go? If I don't get 1st place (which isn't very likely) but manage to qualify for the main event do I get the cash instead? I'm really looking forward to UKOPS week and it's a great new initiative for Skypoker but can't help noticing that most of the players in the Sats are the regulars (and unfortunately the better ones of those).

Yeh, generally they are ''day specific qualifiers'' so if the highroller is on a Thursday then the satellites will be on Thursdays 9apart from the 9pm one every night)

Bumped for the SP twitter guy.

Just want to make it clear what I'm asking about.

    1) Qualifying for the same UKOPS event twice, in sat's that run simultaniously, will result in cash been awarded for 1, if you win both. - That's clear.

    2) If you play the 9pm nightly sat, which awards 1 high roller seat and other seats, and u win the same seat twice, you get the cash, because you are still trying to qualify for an event which you haven't yet qualified for. - That's clear.

    3) The third scenario and the 1 that is unclear.

I qualify for a UKOPS via a morning satellite for example UKOPS1.

I see a UKOPS1 satellite in the lobby 5 hours later, long after the first 1 has ended.

If I play this, and qualify again, what will happen?

Will I get anything for winning?

Will I get awarded the money? - I think sky ruled this out.

Will I get £100 worth of tourny entries?

Will I simply get my stake for the satellite entry back?

I see people entering these afternoon sats for UKOPS having already qualified............

    I must be missing something.

    Thanx.

Wow didnt think it would b this hard to get some clarification!

I think as more of the "regs" manage to get seats in the evants the overlay is going to get even bigger so Sky should address this.

I know on alot of other sites they are happy to give the cash alternative.

Pretty certain they did cover it, DOHHHHHHH - they will refund your sat entry price, nothing more - and rightly so.
As you say, if not, given the overlay, people will abuse the system which has 2 bad effects.
    1. It rewards greed
    2. It will reduce the final field.

Maybe I'm confused, but WHY would you want to enter a satellite for a competition that you have already qualified for?  Personally I think that if you did manage to qualify again then you should forfeit the prize to the person who "bubbled" the prize.
  • edited October 2011
    People have been doing it...

Which begs the question, why are they doing it?

There must be some alternative prize, in which case, that would be the incentive.

Just want clarification from someone official @ sky, because it's definitely +ev to play as many of these satellites as possible.

Why rightly so? if people for whatever reason cannot play on certain days, e.g wednesday,  they should surely be aloud to try and satelitte into the monday event again, to basically gain the entry fee into the wednesday event (as it is the same price buy-in).
    1.  reward greed?   I wouldn't say it was greedy, It's just common sense to play again for some people with the massive overlays.
    2.   Don't really see how the field size matters,  Sky make just as much money either way,  infact slightly more from the extra 'greedy' persons rake. If anything a slightly smaller field may give others an extra incentive to buy-in direct.  Also if a player does sat in twice, its likely that the players around the bubble will buy-in to more sats,  making sky more moneys.

yeh the greed comment did surprise me.

We're all poker players who like to make money and increase equity.

We're all looking for opportunities to do this, looking for the value and +ev spots.....

If I see a guy jamming all in every hand @ nl4 and I tale him for 10 buy ins, should I stand because playing on would be greedy?

Im not looking to cheat skys satellite policy, I'm looking for clarification of what it actually is, so that I can exploiit it fairly and optimally.

    No reply again tho :(

so sikas who is registered 4 the ukops super sat at 9 has already got  ticket to the high roller and the main event, is he playing this cause of his love of poker or the airtime on tv he may get all to win his original buyin in back.

things that make u go um..

  • edited October 2011
I think if you have already qualified and if they are not simultaneous you get entry for sat back

Hope im wrong as thats pretty poor, should be Tourney entries or cash, more ppl register less overlay for sky so should be encouraged and if ppl want to use sats as a way to win cash go for it :) thats just my opinion
