Hi guys, this is Alison, Barry's daughter. Um i don't know how to say this, but Barry needs to have an operation. He has suspected bowel cancer, op is going to be today. We're waiting for a taxi now to go up now and see him. Sorry to be the one to have to tell you guys. Posted by acebarry10
My mother had bowel cancer 20 years ago and bre*st cancer 10 years ago. She will be 85 next month.
Once the bowel cancer is out of the way make sure he checks his bre*sts regularly!!!!
Yup, this is acebarry, as barry , as you can guess, I am home, stent successfuly fitted, I have now to undergo the major 3-4 hour op to remove the infected part, they think they should be able to join the bowel back up, so fingers crossed, if not, hey, its only a bag to carry with me
A big thank you to you all for your well wishes, I promise you it has helped me recover
Good luck with the recovery and next op,best caught early with any cancer type results. My Mum has just had skin cancer treatment on her face, and looks like an early diagnosis has been crucial and they think they have cleared it all after doing surgery and skin graft, but has so far(touch wood !)so good!Cancer can be hopefully all forms be cured.Thats my wish for next year and to raise money for cancer charities whenever possible!Cheers Dave.
We heard from Barry this morning, his stent had slipped a little but he's seemingly ok. I'm sure a good football win from SWFC will cheer him up along with the passing along all the comments.
Hi Alison, I used to talk to Barry a lot, but dont get involved in the forum so much now and was dismayed to see his health had gone downhill. Please pass on my best wishes to Barry and tell him to take it easy and eveything will be ok. He is missed and to those who have known him on this site for years, is a bit of a legend amongst his many friends on this site.

+1 King of the railers! Hope you are back with us soon Barry x
Barry Horrible time for you right now but when you've had the Operation you will be back to normal. Are you on the waiting list. Hubby had similar Op and is OK now, been given the all clear since his PSA is low. Hang on in there. Hugs Annie xx
You just have to stay positive. I had Thyroid cancer a few years back, but surgeon was great, they let you take your laptops in hospital now so not all bad !

GL Baz.
Barry was feeling a little better when I spoke to him a little while ago. He's finally been able to 'go'. Won't go into the minor details there!
He thanks you all for the kind words and i'll keep you updated.

Thank you again all.
Got to make an app to see the specialist, should be near the end of this month.
They took Barry back into hospital again this morning. So he's likely not going to be around again for a couple of days.
Just wanted to echo what everyone is saying and best wishes Barry
