Rake Race, if he has the money then wp and gl to him
  • edited January 2012
Sum1 worked out that assuming he got xxx points playing cash, losing 2.1k in rake @ roulette (& assuming he breaks even in the RR's) would result in him binking the 3k worth of stuff.

So he's basically buying the stuff @ a discount.

He's an accountant int he? gonna hav sussed the numbers!

Going for the 60k points with help from RR would be redic, he would spend more in rake then the prize is worth

EDIT: Ok i'ma try and work the maths out then :/

    Damn you DOhhhhhhhhhhh!

I find it hard to believe that its worth it for the bonus.

There are things that are in the list that he may not even want/use so its seems a pretty silly way of doing it IMO but w/e its his money and he can do whatever he wants with it :)

Ok, I get i didn't think about the massive difference in C4Ps for being in priority club for 3months+

    I'm so stupid.

On a similar thing though earlier in the month I had an idea of how to get the package for a mere £100

If only i was in priority for 3 montghs and had £4k to use as a "deposit"...
  • edited January 2012
I think the reason for it is this:

I don't know the numbers, but let's assume he gets 28k C4P in a month from Poker and 2k C4P from russian roulette, for a total of 30k C4P. We'll also assume he's been in Priority Club for 3 months, as well.

2k C4P playing RR = £200 rake - We'll assume that he wins exactly 50% over time and therefore, the game he wins offset the games he loses, and he only loses the rake.

    28k C4P gives £0.052 x 28,000 = £1456
    30k C4P gives £0.056 x 30,000 = £1680 (- £200 rake = £1480)

In this example, he's actually +£24 from this. Whether this works in any other scenarios or not, idk, have a play with the numbers yourselves :p

Also, for any member of TSP playing RR and earning over 28k points AND been in Priority Club for more than 3 months, it would be profitable if you play live to use RR to pay your tournament buy-ins, because with the C4P doubled (half towards live), for every 10p rake, you're getting more than 10p/point back.

Let's assume reg earns 40k C4P a month normally, for example. They see a £500 buy-in tournament that they want to enter live, so rather than paying £500, they decide to earn £500 from RR rakeback.

To earn £500 tournament rakeback with 40k C4P (this is before RR), if you were in TSP and Priority club for 3+ months, you would need to get an additional 500/0.06 = 8333 C4P.

8333 C4P = £833.30 in rake. As you're getting £500 back from C4P anyway, you'd be spending £333.30 for a £500 buy-in tourney, effectively - Assuming that you win and lose an equal number of games, of course.

As this would also take you to 48k points, it might be worth getting the extra 2k points for the last C4P level and a bigger C4P payout, thus making it even more profitable. Whether "Russian Roulette grinding" would actually be allowed by Sky or not is a different matter, I'm sure there'll be something in the T&C's that prevents people from "abusing" promotions in this way, and whether Sky would be willing to renew somebody's TSP place, even if this wasn't against the T&C's, if they were doing this is also questionable.

TSP members aren't allowed to be in the 3+ club.  We just stay in good old priority :(

Peg uses tracking software when playing these, to game select / gain an edge in game.

I've used these at the end of a month to get the last couple of hundred points needed for the next level, on the old C4P system.

    Hi all

It is a good debate this

Jakally is correct regarding using this game to boost c4p at end of month, but this month is completely different and most prob a one off

i keep track off my winning and losses as most people prob do, and so far this month I have 48,915 points - up on cash, but down on russian roulette - by £85 - I have 2 weeks to hit my target of 60k points - even going for more points as i usually generate approx 8k a week on cash points as I play HU alot and these points to not count in the league points. - so at present I am going to earn £3.75k in c4p and prob a 3k package - yes im an accountant so i do the maths

This is something that i thought I would try - sky are happy becaues they they get the rakes and from other players too

is it right or wrong I do not know - but remember i generate alot of points in cash

Evilpingu, when I stopped being stupid earlier I realised that to get 60k C4Ps using ONLY Russian roulette would be £6k rake, which if you've been in priority for 3+months would give £3.9k rakeback and the £3k package. essentially buying the package for £2.1k

So it gets even "Cheaper" the more points you've earned through real poker. Although there is a way this could be done for £100

    I think i've sussed it...

The £2.20 RR actually give you 3 poker points per game. (It really should only be 2 points, not sure why it gives you 3)

    If you play 20,000 £2.20 RR's, this will give you 60k c4p.

If you win 10,000 RR and lose 10,000 RR, This will cost you £4000 in rake.

Priority 3+ club gives you £3900 in RB for 60k c4p.

So you lose £4000 in rake but get £3900 back...

Therefore, the £3k package only costs you £100.

Bingo, and to pocket9s 20k could be done in about 80 hours if you have a  very good comp and played all 20k against a friend, this wouldn't be cheating as you are allowed to play HU against anyone you like, just 20 table or so and rematch as fast as possible each time, both players would get the package for £100 each. If you didn't win 50% each you could agree to even it out with each other.

AND as with Peg's method if you already have some C4P points this month it'd be EVEN CHEAPER

INFACT with my method if you have 3k points or more you would be making a PROFIT AND THE PACKAGE.

    Morning Gooner,

I don't think you should publish those Sharkscope Stats of another player, it is really not right & proper, can you please remove them?

PS - Do a win today, away to Swansea, please.

    Gents,

It's really not right to openly discuss, or even question, why an individual, in this case peg1, spends his money.

By all means discuss the logic of Russian Roulette, but starting a thread about a particular individual is very wrong. It's his money, he can spend it as he wishes, & he should not be subject to the scrutiny of other players discussing it on a public Forum.

Recently, a guy who had THE worst Sharkscope stats & graph ever was "exposed" on this forum. That is not in anyone's interest. Think about it.......

    Thanks.

Ok understood tikay, was never the intention to rubbish someones stats just doing some calcs out loud although rr is not a true indicator of someones poker ability. I'll delete my thread.

Away win at swansea would be good, especially after spurs drew yest.
