Weekend plans?

edited April 2012 in Poker Chat

What are you up to this weekend?

I'm off to play some live Dealers Choice at Luton tonight, I've been running very well in that recently, though I had a slight setback on Wednesday. ("Slight" = £1,055 loss).

Tomorrow, just chilling, after a challenging week, & need to rest up before Sunday's 5 hour Live Show. Not because its hard work, but because Orford is the Presenter, & he is very tiring.

Sunday - working. With Orford. I run so bad.

What are YOU up to this weekend?

Whatever it is, enjoy it.

Peace.

Got my football commentary gig for West Ham v Brighton on Saturday.  Should be a good one to do as Brighton play lovely football and West Ham are always Jekyll and Hyde at home.

Apart from that, grind and pack, grind and pack.

My good lady is heading off to Austria on Sat for a week long business trip.

So I will be taking the wee lass out to the cinema with some friends on Saturday.  Sunday we will be taking our bikes to a lovely spot where we can be off road and the dog can run along beside us.  Just got a new bike so really looking forward to that

Sunday Night I will be playing the first session after my training with Chris.  Trying to put into practise some of the things we discussed. I'll be limiting it to 2 hours.  Trying to install some discipline into my game ;o)  GL with that one lol

    You do footie commentary?

    For whom, where, what, when?

Incred! Glad I began the thread now, love those sort of facts.

Did you know that Tighty - SPT Rich - does Cricket writing, he submits articles from County Cricket Matches & the like? He also does a bunch of football work, reports & articles, sits on the Board of Befdford Town FC I think, or is their Chief Scout or somesuch. His eldest lad (about 13 years old I think) is a fine goalkeeper, & was with the Arsenal Academy until Wenger found a young French goalie (fancy that, French), so Tighty's lad moved on & is now with Forest, MK Dons, or Peterborough, I think.  Good job really, as Tighty does very little else, the lazy so & so.

Been doing it for over a decade.  Got into it through doing Hospital Radio for Whipps Cross in Leytonstone, still doing it for them.  That's all voluntary but I love it so much, been doing an evening request show there as well as a Saturday Sports Show (either in Studio or commentating live at a ground) for twelve years now, oh my how it flies.  In between then and now i have had the odd bit of paid work for Club Call or a random website, mostly as cover for people when the main commentator has over booked themselves (which used to happen a lot, the rule was always say yes and then sort out any overlaps).  Sadly the internet has killed clubcall and websites/local stations have become much more of a closed shop with people saving money and syndicating one person cross network  That's truly the dream job for me but the moment has probably passed now.

So I still do it for free because love it and from the feedback i get I'm not bad either, then again it'd hope so after tens years or so.  We cover every home match for West Ham and Leyton Orient, from our team I probably cover 20-25 matches or so a year.

Great factoid for Tighty, I can imagine he'd be an amazing sports writer, he's brilliant with the pen.  I must look out for his work.

I am in for a totally rock and roll weekend. Got an evening tonight playing board games with friends (I know!), chilling out and some online poker on Saturday, then karaoke on Sunday. Hopefully the poker on Saturday pays for refreshments on Sunday.

I also think I've been roped into going shopping with the missus as penance for cracking her Kings with Q-5 sooooted in a game with friends last night. That'll serves me right for getting it in pre and then telling her she was a post-flop underdog.... :P

Whatever you all do, I hope you have a lovely weekend! :)

Is this going to be clothes shopping where you, like I was made to do last week, are led around a shopping mall full of screaming kids and have to wait outside many a changing room where a man always has to take the 'I'm not a weirdo pose' as that's exactly where Ladies Clothes Shops have their underwear displays?  I swear they do that just to make men feel uncomfortable.

If this is the case, do what I do, hide in Game.

    This needs clarification.

I am assuming Exeter St Davids station, to Bristol Temple Meads, on the GWR  - there is also a Bristol Parkway, of course.

Incredibly, I believe Exeter has SEVEN different stations.

Exeter St Davids, of course, is said to be the ONLY railway station in the UK at which trains depart for London in opposite ditections. (First Great Western - GWR as was - to the north, & up to Paddington, & South West via the south, & up to Waterloo).

Dave Clarke, meanwhile, is the boss.

Just listen to the variations in the first 60 seconds of THIS

You might have to listen carefully though.....

Gotta pop to Stockport to buy loads of new guitar strings, so may combine it with a trip to the Manchester Aviation Viewing Park to get a look at the A380. If it's not p'ing down.

Oh man I miss Exeter.  That was my University town and had so many good times there.  Of course now home to the only football ground called St James' Park.

I remember many a weekend chilled at The Mill on the Ex, a beautiful pub right on the river.  Then an evening in The Artful Dodger, a sawdust on the floor place where I spent far too many nights.

I'm going to be having a quiet one now, literally because i've lost my voice due to getting a cold.

I was going to pop into DTD today to have a look at this little tournament they've got but I think i'll give it a wide birth. I don't want to be spreading my germs around.

Small world; the Mill on the Exe is on my round, I delivered to the cottages next door this morning.

I've travelled to London both ways from St. Davids. Did you know the short incline from Exeter St.Davids up to Exeter Central (if you're going to Waterloo) is one of the steepest stretches of main line in the country at 1 in 39?

Nearby on the Exmouth branch line is Lympstone Commando. Do you know what's unusual about that particular station Tikay?

Q1 - I'd die of shame if I never knew an essential fact like that! The Box Tunnel exit (easttern end) is pretty steep, too, at 1 in 100, which is why back in the day, trains needed a "banker".

Q2. The only station in the UK not open to the general public - it is reserved, as the name suggests, for visitors to the nearby Commando Training Centre.

    Tonight - 5 a side footabll followed by a few SnG's.
Tomorrow - My birthday! Through to Hampden Park, Glasgow to watch my beloved Hibernian FC take on Aberdeen. Followed by quite a few beverages either in celebration or sorrow (multi-purpose alcohol).
Sun - Working *sigh* with an unGodly hangover no doubt, and then if I can stay awake I will take down the Primo.
