cappa bleu very lightly raced for his age also , i backed him last year and came from nowhere like a rocket
if can be ridden more prominently this year hed have a big shout from the connections who had a few consecutive placings in this with state of play
after having a good look i really like the package and if it were to come up softish (doubtful) and enough came out then gordon elliots TARQUINNIUS could be worth another look at 66/1, neck second in the thystes which ON HIS OWN won last year and is seen as a decent trial of sorts

i would post something here if I could stop laughing.
In Response to Re: 2013 National Winner 'On His Own' running total now £1000 ew (mission accomplished over Xmas) : Yep just plod along in the rear, and stay on steadily into 3rd/4th. Think he intends running it again early March over fences.. Posted by joesman1
I was saying surely not!! all the way through that race lol..That was a good of a comeback run you could of hoped for..Now as short ast 7/1 in places for the national :O If Ruby rides this and not Prince De Beauchene who knows how short this will be on the day...Good luck with this beasty!! ante post bet
I must say I am really surprised you decided to with what's known as the 'lottery race' and not go with maybe a Cheltenham festival pick. I hope he comes through for you though mate! You clearly know more about it than I do.
Must be good to back a horse that plods along and finishes first at 10/1 What odds for the national now? I hope we are toasting the success of your coup in April!! good luck Joesman
Thanks for all your good wishes guys. I managed to watch the race in the Bookies. Gonna sit down and watch it again after I've done some paper work etc. I thought initially he was struggling a bit on the inside, but then Townsend pulled him out with a circuit to go, and he started jumping twice the height of the hurdles and just cantered along side the leader. Frightingly good to watch, and u would think plenty of improvement to come. Just hope he avoids injury between now and the race.

See hes still in the bobby jo chase at fairyhouse on saturday, do you think he will run?
Joesman your comments yesterday put me off backing him, wish I had disregarded your comments,as I know trainers do school horses sometimes, what a price!
He will now definitely be one of my selections in the national!

Nah, I don't think there is the remotest chance now. I think he was put in just in case today's meeting was called off again. And as back up to Prince De Beauchane, in case it picked up an injury. I've read since the race that Mullins will run him once more before the big day, and it might be over hurdles again.

Whoops soz Mr Wynne. A bit ironic that it won at a bigger price than it is now for a 40 runner hcp, jumping over obstacles 4 times the size it jumped today, and not running for 6 weeks lol.
I'll make sure I buy you a drink the next time I see you.

Have followed this post with great interest from the start, and it looks like Derren Brown like forecasting of the future!Have had a skybet free win £5 at 20/1 from around xmas and a £2.50ew at the same price.I do like the look of Cappa Bleu for the National and have spent a fair few £ money on that to win... but i wouldn't mind if mine got 1st or 2nd now to be fair!Great bet mate, will be shouting it home if mine isn't in contention and will do a rev forecast on the day(just in case!),but i think while writing this i think i would enjoy On his own winning more now and a long term bet coming good!(Maybe the wine talking, but i don't think so).Good Luck,Dave.

Thanks for your kind words Dave. Tbh if it makes the race in 1 piece, fit, and 10/1 or there abouts, I've half accomplished my mission. As said previously, I could cut and run now and guarantee a profit, but that would spoil the story/blog. I'll be very happy with just a place return of approx £7.5k ish. Not bothered to work it out accurately as that would be tempting fate. But I have some @ 33/1, some @ 25/1 and finally some @ 20/1, and averages out @ 26/1 ish. Bet Victor got most of it, followed by Paddy Power and Boylesports. Skybet got none as they have always been on the low side price wise.
31 days since your last thread up date! What's the latest? Have you laid any off? Have you got any doubles, trebles accumulators from Cheltenham going on to it? Very good luck Joesman!! Only 12 days to go!!! I'm surprised you're not in Dubai with Father V lol Posted by cleansweep
Been nothing to report about really Cleansweep. I'm a bit surprised he hasn't had a 2nd run. Though the w/e he was entered both Walsh and Townsend were injured/having w/e off before Cheltenham.
Nope not laid a penny off, not going to either. I'm confident it will take a fall etc not to be in the 1st four, so I'm happy to take my chance. Nothing from Cheltenham riding on it either, just the £1k ew. As for Dubai, some of us have to work for a living lol. Anyway my g/f still hasn't forgiven me for going to St Kitts last year to play poker. A trip to Dubai for horse racing would = back to single life I think.
Thanks for your support, I'll buy you a drink at the next SPT I see you and anyone else at. Mind u I think many on here don't even attend them. Got me thinking, we should have a race day out or something similar, where we can all attend and have a bit of a laugh.
WOW..... Nearly crapped myself just then. Popped on to the Racing Post website to be greeted by.........
" Prince ruled out of National with fracture "
GRAND NATIONAL second-favourite Prince De Beauchene was on Tuesday night dramatically ruled out of the Aintree showpiece.
Writing on his website, trainer Willie Mullins revealed: "We have had some bad news about Prince De Beauchene. He had not been striding out for the last few days and following a bone scan in Troytown Veterinary Hospital, it has been confirmed that he has a minor stress fracture in his illium.
"He will require at least six weeks' box rest, so unfortunately he will miss the Aintree Grand National."
That explains why mine has hardened across the board the past 2 days. Thought something strange was going on.
