    nice one diablo pez , ruddy brilliant,  just got back from live event in stoke 50% welsh( dont ask me why) alot of welsh being spoken on table and dealer warned both players. if its not allowed live, shouldnt be allowed on line. ps nothing against welsh, great people and they donked me a load of chips so happy days

    Just seen this thread & totally agree that all chat on the tables should be in English. As far as I'm aware this is a rule of all the major online cardrooms & nothing to do with being racist.

    Full credit to diablo pez for his original and humourous contributiuon to the thread.
    The bottom line is that the site regulators require the chat to be in english in order for them to be able to monitior any possible collusion, inappropriate chat etc.  This has nothing to do with racism or anything else, and all players on the site should accept the rules as they are.

    To be honest not sure why it has to be English on all these sites. If you heard someone talking a foreign language in a bar, they wouldnt be thrown out would they? So whats different on here, all seems a bit odd to me.

    How do you know that people in a nightclub arent colluding to kill someone? It works both ways mate, just think its a bit ridiculous to ban "foreign" chat. Sky Poker should be looking to branch out and attract new members. Therefore a more welcoming attitude to foreign players would be more sensible and ultimately lucrative in the long term.

    I'm not disagreeing with the general context of the post, but it's not very common to see people talking in a foreign language in the chatbox and doesn't bother me too much personally. It is courtesy to speak english of course but is it worth making a post which could be rather misconstrued across the interwebs as being rather race-hateful?

    Coincidentally I played a live tournament in Salzburg, Austria a few weeks ago (beautiful city and awesome "Concord Card Casino" btw) and even then the actions and numbers were mostly declared in english.

    English is the accepted language on all the major sites. The insistence on using English or more to do with courtesy to ALL players, as English is the common language of commerce. The risk of collusion is probably no greater if 2 or more players are talking in another language. The reason for this is that most sites will have a translation section and any collusion would be found out. There is of course a very simple way of colluding with other players and that is via MSN. Players can conduct live chat to each other without anyone being any the wiser, unless of course they are so blatant about it that it becomes obvious from the plays they make.

    I personally wouldn't get all worked up about it.

    I agree I think it should be English only in the chatbox.  Mind you I sometimes have trouble translating the comments that people type in English lol

    As far as i know the rule is now and always has been English only at the tables (as with 99.9% of all online card rooms). You need to contact CS when this is occuring and report it. You can't physically get the program to filter non-english so this one is down to Sky Players report those that don't obey the rules

    The problem with it is it makes collusion easy as people who converse in another language can openly cheat by instructing each other on hole card holdings or actions without the rest of the tabke being aware of what is going on

    In other words, colluding with each other.

    Collusion is cheating and cheating is not legal on any poker site or card room.

    Or you can get a 'instant translater' for the chat box which will convert any language (including text talk and swear words which are removed) as soon as they are typed INTO ENGLISH. The same company also provides a 'code breaking' device to let you know what cards are coming on the turn and river before they are dealt which should improve your poker play. The cost of the translater is £499.99 and the code breaker retails at a very reasonable £1999.99 inc VAT.

    If you read the thread, page 2 I think, there is a post from one of the Mods saying they ARE looking at this incident and the rules are that English should be used in the games.

    I try to bring humour into everything as things can get a little too serious sometimes on these threads which i can understand but laughter is always the best medicine me thinks (readers digest...circa 1980 onwards)
