UKOPS 7 Update Thread

edited November 2012 in Poker Chat

Today, Day 7 of this UKOPS renewal, is Bounty Hunter Bonanza day - all three events are Bounty Hunters.

Guarantees tonight total £22,500.

That may not sound too ambitious, but Saturday nights can be challenging, as folks like to go out, & also, tonight is likely to be the "main" Bonfire Night, though I assume there will be 4 this year (Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon).

Details to follow.

    Quoted for truth Sir!

Good luck, I hope you do.

Here's an iconic RTL - not quite an RLT, but any excuse, eh?

    What? WHAT?

Regret asking it? No way. Your life will be forever enriched henceforth, fortified by what you are about to learn.

An RTL is a derivative of the RT, the most successful bus chassis ever, primarily used in London, but later, all over the UK, & the world, & even now they are still being made in India, under Licence.

Here, have a butchers at this.....

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RTL_(bus)

Impressed yet? You will be if you now have a look at this - it shows where many of the old RTL's now reside, & for what they are used. Note how many - fascinatingly - are in Sri Lanka. There is also one in South Africa, used for "Topless Tours". Hmm.

    http://www.self-preservation-society.co.uk/jotter/history/rtlrtw.shtml

You will be aware - of course - that the RT & RTL were the forerunner of the RM, aka "Routemaster".

I much preferred the RTL over the RM, & in fact I used to go to school on an RTL. Happy days.

Quite recently, I hapened to visit Brooklands Motor Museum, & they now also house the London Bus Museum (as well as a Concorde!), which includes the most awesome collection of RT & RTL's I have ever seen under one roof.

    There you go.....

Want to know more? I could go on, you know.

Ooh - now THERE is an idea.

And yes, I am doing tomorrow's Show.

If ONLY Orford were on, I could send him right over the edge.

it may be worth saving for a show when you and orford are on together we both know how much he likes listen to you and your interests :D

Tikay, in the great ancestry of buses of London, which place would you give in history to the 'Bendy Bus?'

Practicing for bonfire night Tommy?  Light blue touchpaper and stand well back :)
  • edited November 2012
I honestly don't know if Tikay has expressed either love or hate for the vehicle before, just interested.  Personally I think they are a fabulous engineering feat to solve a problem which wasn't there and no one asked to fix.

I think numbers will be down due to folk off out for bonfire night, but I think also that Sky have maybe realised this, so have put on 3 B/H's which are always popular on here, and therefore all the guarantees will be met.

They would not qualify on any credible list Tommy.

They are not a proper bus, not in the classical sense of the word.

They mean nothing to me, nada, zilch, nil points.

I would not cross the road to see one, watch one, get on one, or get under one.

Compared to an RTL, they are like a Trabant up against a Rolls Royce.

Those odious bendy bus monstrosities don't break down very often. RTL's NEVER break down.

The matter is closed, & if you continue to troll in this manner, the thread will be closed, too.

    Please, show some respect.

    You disappoint me Tommy.
