Monday's loss of -£21.65 shouldn’t have been a loss at all, I should have came out with profit of £45.47. These losses usually get caused from MTT overplay alone, on this occasion it was cash that had as much to blame as MTTs. The loss from MTT over play was simply going into the main, I want to play DTDs so just forget about the main even if I did miss Saturday’s main event.

The avoidable cash loss wasn’t from chasing, (the reason it happen in the past), this loss was because I simply wasn't in the mood to multi table, deep down I knew I’d be stopping once I exited the final DTD, as that could have been anytime, I didn’t focus on the cash as well as I normally do, The best thing would have been for me to just continue playing DTD 2 and rail some of my team on other tables.

My day should have been a one of cheap MTTs, 1 cash table and a number of SnGo.

Until recently I wasn't really interested in SnG but what I’m starting to find is that SnG are a good way to practice improvements on the mid stages of an MTT. Overall I came out with profit of £14.20 in SnG surviving 2/3 DYM (£5.50), 1/1 DYM (£3.30), 2nd in 6max (£3.30) won £6.30 and 2nd in 6max (£5.50) won £10.50.

The cheap MTTs I should have been in were the DTDs early semi and mega stack rather than mini, I still would have had a loss of -£5.85 but the SnG would make up for that themselves.

The cash table which I did play in the correct timing got me a win of £37.12.

So the day which should have been great was disappointing.

    cash  £3
    Sng £14.20
    MTT -£38.85
    overall -21.65

Regular SnGs are definitely a good way to improve various skills used in different stages of MTTs.... DYMs are not.

although i do occasionally enter main events via a direct nuy in, i've set myself a challenge of reaching these UKOPs main events via sats.

i'll allow myself the chance of 1 direct buy in if all else fails as long as i have a great cash run between now and then.

If i'm going to allow myself entry into 1 of those UkOPs main events i will certainly need to avoid the cash tables come out like they did today. some of the hands had me in awful spots questioning weather or not i should bet.
the losses just didn't stop and eventually i came to a total loss of £99.31.

Sng again seemed to be where i did best, i only really played the SnG because i was hoping to be on TV, my big focus at the time was on the UKOPs semi and quarter as i did get into them both via a sat.
so having played a £5.50 6 max, £11 6 max, £11 DYM and £5.50 DYM i won the £5.50 6max, was 2nd in the £11 6max and got past the bubble of the £11 DYM which give me a total overall of £22 profit.

That KQ hand, was the tiny bet on the river an attempt at a thin value bet or were you attempting to induce oppo to bluff?  I think I'd be tended to fold here, given you've gotten to the river so cheaply - the small bet river bet suggests you don't have a FH yourself so even a 4x may try for max value from an over pair (9s up) or Kx hand?

I get your line for the 2nd hand but think it may be best to give up here... as well as FH options the oppo could easily have made the hand you're repping as well?  If they've called all the way then I'd figure them to still call 88-QQ also... yeah, I don't know how well that will work without specific notes / image.

it's quite late so i'll go in better detail tomorrow.

Now that i've added up the overall totals for friday, I think their were a bit a too many sats getting entry, £5.30 doesn't look much but when it all adds up it comes out as a larger amount than expected. The positive thing is i did get into the semi for the big UKOPS, now my challenge is to get into the actual event itsel.

my total friday overall was -43.09
    £27.21 cash
    -£79.30 MTT

sunday of course is the day i'll be in the UKOPS 25K semi, as that is far too dear for me to direct, i'll certainly love it if i could get in via that sat, tonight i choose to make entry in the main and mini through a direct buy, i also loaded up 2 cash tables to play at the time, after an hour i turned my attention away from the MTTs towards cash because of how well i was doing on them cash tables, so the trouble was it soon caused me to make mistakes including a 3bet being made with 73o!.
overall i lost a total of -£42.35 in MTTs and was not quite concentrating well enough, so the semi on sunday is going to only be played alone with music in back ground.

My cash tables today went in two totally different manners. The first session i had was a one where the bets would consistantly be small vlue bets to keep the heros in the pot, the pots might not be getting big but the thing that mattered most was keeping the weak hands in. Although most tables were about small value, i did have 1 table which was acting in a way that was sure to provide easy money and that had an outcome of £27 whilst the other  outcomes were +/-£6.

The evening cash session well that's a one i'll call big buy in big exits, it might sound like i'm going up the stakes but actually i wasn't, the aggression on these tables had been much larger that earlier, infact you even had gutshots doing 3betting post flop! The main thing i can be thankful of is the number of times i had hit sets, the good thing about hitting sets now was they were sure to get the full stack most times as these heros were too brave and just couldn't make them folds.

"how are things going"? "they going quite well, i'm getting some good pot wins, i've won a great pot"
"how are things going"? "well not as good as i hoped just had an awful cooler flush loosing to full house, oh well reload".
"how are you doing"? "fine had some great pot wins my stack is looking good"
how are you doing"? "grr just lost a large stack now i'll have to hope for a double up, oh man it didn't win so i'm out"

In cash games i managed to put up with it easily because i don't have an issue over the stack size, instead it''s just a case of how my hands are, in MTTs chips mean so much more because i don't have the benifit of reloading, so the last thing i want is to be asked questions on how i'm going every 15 minutes.
What eventually happened was i bcame positive tilt started getting very confidient then in the mid stages things went pearshaped and i went from positive tilt to a more negative tilt. the person asking me all this doesn't really know poker that much, in MTTs it might seem great having an early chip lead but that is unlikely to effect the chances of final tabling.

still my day turned out great and i won a large sum.

today has fealt like a really long day, normally at this time in the evening i would be getting ready for some master cash but tonight will most certainly not be getting me on them, at times i'm not even confident going all in pre with KK concerned i'll loose.

what i think went wrong was my first entry was into a sat for tonights HR quarter, also when i started playing it was an attempt to get out of bordom more than anything, what then happene is i get some coolers and begin feeling annoyed. although i tried to tell him that i didn't want to be constantly asked "how you doing" the person who was in the house with me still continued to ask me it, it now made be feel a bit impatient getting desperate for the time to come when he leaves giving me peace.

As we all know these are not the most relaxing things, unfortunately when playing poker you need to be very relaxed. So overall i've come to a loss of -£103.94

    cash -£66.94
    MTT -£30.50
    SnG -£6.50

Tomorrow i will have to house to myself therefore it's a simple case of planning the day well and playing MTTs, cash and SnGs at the right times.

Ya I don't think the KQ hand vs me was played very well.  Don't like your 3bet with that hand or sizings on turn and river.  My jam is lol though.
  • edited October 2014
although it doesn't look like poker it does have a poker theme to it, i call it football sats.
    1. Tottenham v Brighton |Tottenham| @ 1.44
    2. Chelsea v QPR |Chelsea| @ 1.17
    3. Arsenal v Burnley |Arsenal| @ 1.25
    4. Newcastle v Liverpool |Newcastle| @ 3.75
    5. Manchester City v Newcastle |Newcastle| @ 13.00
all these sats i enter cost £5 and really they going to be played like a normal MTT as it's only 1st place that will get into the semi and quarter finals of UKOPs big events.
so i've came up with a different way of doing it, betting on who will win football matches as their is some good odds this week and also some easy games to give the boost needed.

already i'm just 1 match away from the HR thanks to this £5 bet i made. chelsea and arsenal are both 99% certain leaving just my great NUFC team to do another great result, i did forget to add a few others that i was certain like barca and madrid because they would have given even more but still i will get £530 for just a price of £5 and HR hear i come.

    Bloody Newcastle ;)

Would you really lump all the winnings on the High Roller? Not prefer to spread the winnings and play 5 UKOPS mains?

Hate the bin dippers so I hope you beat them this weekend!

actually i've make quite alot of these.

when you look at sky bet  they giving great odds for the inform teams like newcastle and southampton, then ofcourse you can add the boosted odds because chelsea and arsenal both are sure to get the win.

another one i have high hopes for is this
newcastle, arsenal, chelsea, southampton, everton, celtic, dundee and city plus already got chelsea southampton and spurs league cup games correct.
their is even one which could win me back two grand.

Tonight i had a positive story with MTTs, i managed to get into the main event via semi, having got into the main i then get a great time in the main and came 48th.
    REDARROW61047£34.50 + £42.19 Head Prizes2
    craigcu12048£34.50 + £55.54 Head Prizes4
    STOYLES049£34.50 + £84.24 Head Prizes
whilst the start of a freeroll will offer no practice at all, i think the mid to late stages can be useful practice for MTTs because it's these that have the loosest callers, therefore i certainly need to think about my actions.

cash today was a different story altogether, i started off in a fairly bad way with coolers, then my evening session had a couple of tables where i might have went in too quickly and lost more than i should have done really.

    MTT £79.18
    cash -£100.22
    overall -£47.81

poker seems to have been reversed, at the beginning of the monthit had been cash table winnings and MTT losses, now it's the cash tables that are losses and the MTTs that are winning.

The problem with cash is the fish are getting the hands and will then run off, the thing is there are very few fish about at the minute and the regs on my table at the minute seem to be boring ones.

MTT on the other hand are going great, i decided to direct myself into the main event and having did a direct buy in i manage to get past the bubble for the second night running as well as the main event i also had a prize in the orford as well, so with the UKOPS just around the corner this is a great time for my winning run in MTTs.

    MTT £15.46
    cash -£16.89
    overall -£1.43

    my summery of this month.

    cash
16 winning days and 11 loosing days.
my best day came with a win of £156.34, my worst day was a one with a loss of £105.61

Total overall £311 (£891.30-£513.89) and the average over the whole month (doesn't include off days) is £13.98.

MTT has been an awful one, number of days with a loss 24, number of days with a gain 4.
MTT had a overall loss of £432.14 the average per day is -£15.32.

The best thing this month has to be my improvement in sit and gos, my total prize won this month in sit and gos is £65.60, i had 13 days play overall and so that averaged out at £5.05 per day.

overall my month has finished at a small loss of -£7.59, average of -£0.27

My mistakes now seem to be getting clear so my challenge this november is get myself back on track with MTTs and continue to build the BR on cash.

    good fold,

at 4 nl from what I've seen u do get calls quite a lot of calls no matter what the raise, with high hands high pairs I raise a bit more, but as u say still get some weird and wonderful calls.

always say though your money and you can call and do what u want... key is knowing when too fold which you did, in the long run you will be smashing this level I would say.

I found lambert180's 4nl vid quite useful and that where I got the bigger raise from that, high hands big raise and get the money building up. just know when too get away

saturday was another great day in MTTs with a deep run happening in the mini. My longest running treak on a cash table last month was 6 days in a row and those were all great cash runs, I then got 5 days of bad form (4 losses and 1 £3 win).  They might have lots of skill involved but the MTTs do need more luck than cash does, now i've had a great run in MTTs recently and hope it continues, all i'm thinking now is the gods might be stopping now and looking for someone else.

Another story about the MTs might be that i want to avoid the good hands in the first hour becaus they give me a greatstack but it then gets the bad luck, 6000 was mine in the main when blinds were 30/60, i raised 2.5BB with AK OTB, BB with 2K calls the bet, flop came Ah Qd 7d BB went Ch/R 180/525, i decide to call turn comes Kc, BB goes Ch so i decide to shove and he calls with Jd10d and won, a board like this i'm thinking any set would bet again, so Jd 10d was the only hand i see making the Ch but even that i'm thinking will bet knowing how many two pairs and premium sets their are. things just kept getting worse, the mini now hand my good luck and i went on to finish 6th in that one winning a total prize of £107.47.

1 hand i had in the mini that might be questionable is this one,

As their were a number of short stacks i'm thinking UTG was either trapping with a monster or just wants to see a cheap flop, UTG+1's limp i rule out alll but the smallest pocket pairs straight away and believed it my hand is the sort with 30% chance of winning, SB just has the odds to complete his blind, when the BB then does a raise but leaves himself with 610 chips it looked like someone who is hoping to take down the pot now and has a weakish hand and can still therefore escape on boards that bring say an A or K, so the 5 might need trips but the 8 can still hit or it could be a 50 50 with him and the other shorty i'm sure now has either a very small pair, Ax or two broadway cards and that's what i expect to be story if the SB had called.

considering the pot now has 16BB, 20BB if the SB calls and knowing these short stacks are most likely holding Ax, weak pairs or broadway cards did i get the right odds to call?

Might be questionable? Limping along is the questionable bit, calling off effectively 2 shoves is just bad imo. They are very short and we are getting a half decent price but we'll be in such dreadful shape V their 2 ranges and it's still calling off like 25% of our stack with 8high pre.

    WP on FT'ing
  • edited November 2014

meh it's more like 1/5 of our stack. Not a fan of the over limp, but think the others are so short that 85s won't play too badly vs their GII ranges at this stage. As played I think you should go for it.

The money won from my bet will be getting used in 5 UKOPS main events, the first being tonight’s, UKOPS 20KBH, for a chance of jackpot, on days of main event I’ll enter the mini as well.

Things such as side, micro and challenge events will all come down to how well i did through the day on cash.

My session this afternoon was a story about coolers, so things are not looking well for me yet. I did manage to get on the winning side of some coolers, the thing about my winning coolers was 2 were won against a short stacks of 40BB and 50BB, not every cooler was  down to pure luck, AQ vs 98 on a board 962 9 9 i attempt to bluff a high pair on river and see a raise, I then choose to still call the last £11.58, weather or not it’s me thinking i should have over bet jammed to stat with i don’t know but what was known is he now would be ahead of me as too much was in the pot.

I am an optimist Craig and will use any excuse possible to justify my poor play, but this is definitely not a cooler! :(

    Good luck in UKOPs :D
