    Hi rumsey

I am afraid tikay, like us cannot see other players Hand Histories, I would suggest you copy, and paste the hand to The Poker Clinic", just to see if you played the hand the best you could, you usually get very good answers, I would say, it is their money, they may play as they wish :)

    Hi

I have copied and pasted a comment from tikay earlier in this thread:I'm sorry to see you have had a few outdraws, but nobody is exempt from them, they are part of poker, & we just need to learn to accept that the MORE bad calls people make against us, the more we will win. Simple!

We must not, however, allow ourselves to be seduced by selective or short-term memory - of course bad calls hit from time to time, but in most cases (mathematical fact) if we go in with the best hand, & WE PLAY IT PROPERLY, we will win over the longer term.

An oddity of poker, which I've never even begun to understand, is why some poker players berate bad plays, or bad players. Surely they'd do the opposite, loigically?

I have enboldened two sections of your question, where you seem to suggest it is Sky Poker's fault. Well the cards just come as they are dealt, or virtually shuffled by the RNG. If we start blaming Online Sites, or, in Live Poker, the Dealer, for outdraws, well I think there is a disconnect in our thinking.

i understand the bad beat ratio but i also understand that the rake payes your wages so the more money put in the pot the more rake you take that is simple maths to and you encourage bad play and reward it so the bad players keep playing bad thinking they can win and in most casses on here they do so so i raise 4x 5x the blind and still get called but the bad player still calls and is rewarded so the outcome is a max rake hand for sky surely you should discourage bad play

    Yo Roy,

Sorry, but I have only just seen this, & it is too late for me to action it in time for tonight, & Producer Dan is on holiday this weekend I'm afraid.

In these cases, it's best to contact Customer Care a few days in advance.

There is no "time-limit" to these things, so you can look forward to your prize when you return from your jollies. Hope the holiday goes well! Also, the note below is NOT connected to this instance, it's just a coincidence, but it seemed a good time to mention it.

GENERAL NOTE TO COMPETITION ENTRANTS & WINNERS

In future, ALL Tournament Entries offered via the Show on Ch 865, & this Community, will be DATE SPECIFIC. In other words, Prize Entries will be for a specific Tourney on a specific evening, & will NOT be transferable to alternative dates, so please read details BEFORE Entering. Thank youuuuuuuuuuuu

(Feel free to reply "oh yes I do".......)

Sir, I suggest you are exaggarating just a tinsy winsy bit. We ALL suffer so-called "bad-beats". Accepting & understanding that is key to enjoying poker.

If you really think you DO suffer bad beats "every time", feel free to post the Hand Histories of the last 10 hands you have lost. If all 10 are bad beats, & you played them correctrly, or even reasonably well, I will give you a FREE Entry to Tuesday's "Thews @ Ten".

regarding recent posts that have made quite an impression on many on the forums. Whats your views on players with learning/mental difficulties in poker. And what sort of advice would you give to these players.

Are people still moaning about bad beats. I have noticed the players that seem to always be moaning about it are the supper tight agressive players that sit there dont play a hand for an hour then shove allin with jacks , queens ect. simple maths the more all your chips are in the middle the more bad beats you will take
    Posted by Luke_Jones
I'm afraid so, Luke, but we need to be patient & tolerant with them, because those who complain about bad beats are usually relative newcomers to poker.

Bad beats are part & parcel of poker. If they were not, the highly skilled players would win all the money. Fortunately, luck evens up the skill imbalance.

There are some players who moan every day about bad beats, but only because they don't understand how poker works.

I have very strong feelings on the matter, Don.

As a child, I was classed as "backward" or "retarded", & sent to a Special School, along with the children who had Downs Syndrome or other problems.  These days, my condition would be described as having "learning difficulties", hence why I, & many others, take deep offence when we see "bad players" described as "retards", & I nearly throw up when I see some of the expressions used by players who are just sore at losing a hand of poker.

Some of the players who frequent this Community - some of them very prominent players, including one who is in TSP - have children with special needs, too, & I ache for them when I see such insensitive comments.

Poker is a fine medium for those who have various learning difficulties, until they see the comments by insensitive, intolerant & rude individuals who have no regard for others.

Elsadog summed most of it up perfectly, in that no two cases are alike, so I cannot really give general advice.

When I was working (in my "proper" job) I devoted half a day a week for many years voluntarily helping people who lacked literacy & numeracy skills, too, but it is VERY important to differentiate between "laziness" & specific mental conditions, (lack of literacy or numeracy, & conditions such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, etc) as they are easily confused.

I know very many people who suffer from Aspergers, including several close friends, but it affects every sufferer in a different way. But in most cases, Aspergers Syndrome does not affect the ability of someone to play competent & winning poker.

So my view is that every one of us in poker should be respectful towards our opponents. Calling them "idiots" or worse because they call with eccentric hole cards does not cut much ice with me, & I try not to engage with such intolerant individuals.

thanks for a very good responce Tikay, i didnt actually realise this issue was something as close to your heart, and i apprechiate your valid honesty. I wasnt refering to just myself but to all players in general. As you said Elsadog has some great comments and ive asked him if i could speak to him about my own personal circumstances, to which he kindly agreed - top man imo just for that.

There players are "terrible", but you cannot beat them?

There was a huge Live Tourney this week, called "Goliath", & on my Twitter feed, I saw hundreds of comments about how "lol bad", "weak", & "awful" many of the players were.

The world has gone mad when we complain about "weak", or "bad" opponents!

To beat players who do not play what you or I may deem to be "technically" good poker, it's simple - just adjust your game, & remember to take the long view. If you think you can win every hand, though, you need to adjust your thinking, because you cannot.

There are lots & lots of players who do not play poker very well. Just as well, too, for without them, we would not be able to afford to play the game, would we?

    Hi Covvy,

A-A v 7-5 is only about 78% to win, so the 7-5 will win one time in 5, roughly, which is a 4/1 shot. Play the hand 5 times, & you WILL, on average, lose once. Fact. That assumes, of course, that the Aces were played optimally........

A-A v J-10 is a slightly bigger dog, but still only about 4/1.

I'm not sure how a 4/1 shot winning equates to "rigging the deal", can you make the connection for me, please? 4/1 shots win every day. Roughly one time in 5, in fact. If they did not, then there would be reason to complain!

It's just like real life, Covvy. We take a beat or two along the way, unfairly sometimes, but if we have character & backbone, we just take them in our stride.

How do you put up with so much whining & moaning, you have the patience of a saint lol. We all hate being beaten with our pocket aces etc and people moan sayin it ALWAYS happens to them, it doesnt, its just that we tend to remember the bad beats....we dont remember when we suck out!

I think you missed the bove questiojn Tikay, lthough i,m not suprised at this seems to be turning into a bad beat thread or something that belongs in Area 51

Since I posted the above question I have phoned up Sky poker, emailed them and sent PM,s to other Sky Poker Staff. I did get a reply to an email saying they were looking into it and would get back to me when they could but that was nearly a month ago.

I am going to phone up again. Who would you recommend to ask to speak to as its been almost 9 months now since it finished and not long of a year since it started

    Cheers
    Paul

When people moan about so called bad beats they become abusive, asking the winner  about his/her parentage or why did you call my raise, or your not supposed to call out of position. These and many more abusive terms i cannot print.

        WELL  THINK OF THIS

IF EVERY FAV IN A HORSE RACE WON, THERE WOULDNT BE ANY BOOKIES.
AND THATS WHY WE CATCH THE BUS  AND THE BOOKIE DRIVES A ROLLS ROYCE

so next time you get a (bad beat) dont be abusive, he maybe the bookie driving home

    Hi Tikay.

You have been receiving an awful lot of stick recently on the live shows. I am ashamed to say that i have participated recently. But something you said on last nights show gave me an idea which i think is good on a number of levels. I could post it on the forum but then it will be in public view and spoil the surprise if you wish to act on my proposal.
So how do i contact you privately ? I'll need an e-mail address but i need to share this with you fairly soon as time is of the essence. Honestly man it'll be worth it.
