Just had a look at the tournament lobby for this freeroll, it has a maximum field of 500 runners, and 100th place gets a guaranteed £10, even 5th place gets £100, rising to £250 for the winner, very generous and not top heavy IMO.

Been playing cash for a couple of weeks now and I've come across 3 or 4 players who immediately run from the table when they stack me. They don't even hang around for one more hand. Is this usual and acceptable behaviour or are they the sc*m of the earth?

Table balancing
It is quite common on SKY to see 3 - 4 of the top stacks on the smae table in a MTT whilst yhere are still multiple tables. The balancing algorithm may need some work.
